Like Edward Cullen eyeballing a deer in the middle of the woods, you can be forgiven if you drool a bit while looking at the first official “Twilight” poster. It’s an MTV exclusive, it’s a thing of beauty, and it was photographed by 18-year-old wunderkind Joey Lawrence.
You can read our interview with Joey over on the MTV Movies page, but here’s an extra-juicy bit of news: Lawrence has signed on to shoot all the posters for “Twilight.” When I was on the set recently, virtually everyone I spoke with brought up plans for sequels, and if those dreams come true Joey would likely return as well. (Click the poster for the high-rez version!)
“Yeah,” he told us recently, swinging by our Santa Monica offices. “I’ll be doing all the next movies.”
Lawrence knew that the first poster had to focus on the key relationship of Edward and Bella, and said he’d like to keep the subsequent images focused on the characters and their couplings.
“I think they’ll probably be keeping the mood pretty dark and edgy still,” he said of his plan. “I’ve read the first script, and I know what happens in the next books just from talking to the actors, so the mood might change a little bit, but the style will stay the same.”
Lawrence also revealed that he’s been meeting with “Twilight” director Catherine Hardwicke, so that they can synchronize their overall plan.
“I think it’s going to be interesting with her,” insisted Lawrence, who hopes to become a director himself someday. “When I read the script, I realized this is not her kind of movie. Because she’s done like ‘Lords of Dogtown’ and ‘Thirteen,’ so when I read the script I was kind of like, ‘That’s a vampire movie,’ but then to find out that she was doing something with it, I think it’s going to be different than just a normal kind of teenage love story. I think it might be interesting to see.”
We’d expect nothing less, right Twilighters? I want to read the thoughts of each and every one of you (and believe me, we all do!), so here’s your TT question of the week: Is the poster, better, worse, or exactly as you imagined? What, if anything, would you have done differently than Joey?

it really shows the closeness of their relationship.....and it is chilling....
i thnk it really gives off the whole vampire vibe thing
and my last question is....WHERE CAN I GET ONE!!!
: D
I didn't really have an image for the poster, I was just anxious to see what they would do for it. I have to say that it is better than I would have imagined it.
Although I do have to agree with one comment that I saw about the fact that they're always looking away from each other. There should, in my opinion, be at least one photo or poster where they're looking at each other and you can see the depth and intensity of their love. It should be that, as soon as you see the poster, you know that they're meant to be together. The intensity of their gaze, their body language, everything. They are star crossed lovers and it needs to be shown.
That's the only thing that I would suggest, other than that everything is utterly perfect!
Joey, keep up the good work my friend! ;)
PS if Rob aka Edward's eyes aren't red someone please tell me but even if u do i am not colored blind!!!
I look forward to mor!:)
Joey is a genius. Rob and Kristen look unbelievably cute togther.
I love how they did his eyes.
And the trailer makes me scream because it looks soo incredible.
Can't wait for 12-12-08!
I look forward to more.
x_x
I love it!
yes yes yes!
its perfect!
Its Edward and Bella
good work!
is there anywhere i can get it? :D
About a love that is intertwined by vampires, blood, lust, and dispair. It is absolutely going to be great! I just hope the movie will be very similar to the book and for a 2nd movie! To capture the very essense that Stephenie Meyer put into her books!
The way Edward bows down and Ella hides in his arms - like they both have found home.
The only thing that I'm wondering about and maybe would have done different is why their heads aren't on the same height. I mean, sure, he is protecting her, but I actually think that the special thing, the magic, of their relationship is, that Edward doesn't regard himself as something better than Bella. He is this gorgeous, immortal vampire (with brilliant teeth) and she is just a "normal" girl, who has a tendency towards putting herself into danger. But in his eyes she is the most important thing in the world, the love of his "life". In his eyes they are on the same level, even though he is better at kind of everything.
But, it's like the lion protecting the lamb, which is very lovely, indeed. Great job.
P.S. Am I the only one, who thinks that, or does Kristen Steward look like Alexis Bledel in that picture?
edward is EXACTLY what i imagined him to be.
*and i did have a very clear picture in my mind.! i fell in love with a fictional character, as i assume the rest of you did. !
but i was rather dissapointed when i found out taylor lautner was playing jacob. i REEEAAAALLLLYYY wanted stephen strait to play it.!
[ for those of who dont know, it the guy that played warren peace in disneys movie, "Sky High." ]
but i am counting down the days until breaking dawn, and i am officially jumping out of my bones for this movie. thank you stephanie meyer for bestowing this gift upon me, and the billions of other people who fell in love with the character that you created.
Thank you guys, I'd kiss you if I could!!!
Okay job Joey!
I don't like Rob a lot, but i hope that the mmm...strenght in his stare stay impregned in all the movie. I also like the color of his eyes, and Bella looks a little scared, but she looks fine, at least her hand shows how much she depends on him.
Really, the poster it's fine, better than I expected, I must admit.
I just think that Bella should stick out more. She is the main character and in the poster, she is covered in shadow, whereas Edward's lighted face and pale skin stick out too much.
It looks good, but doesn't portray the movie quite like it should.
p.s. im waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more excited than any other fan b/c the movie comes out two days after my birthday!! Thankyou summit, for the most awesomest b-day present ever! Or should i say the best 16th b-day present ever!

I also love how Edward's eyes are golden...no one overlooked that considering it is major. Also Bella looks Breathless and as if her heart stopped for a bit... which is how she often looks concerning Edward... And my Final statement... I love how Edward glows
