‘Twilight’ Poster Photographer To Continue Working On Franchise

Like Edward Cullen eyeballing a deer in the middle of the woods, you can be forgiven if you drool a bit while looking at the first official “Twilight” poster. It’s an MTV exclusive, it’s a thing of beauty, and it was photographed by 18-year-old wunderkind Joey Lawrence.

You can read our interview with Joey over on the MTV Movies page, but here’s an extra-juicy bit of news: Lawrence has signed on to shoot all the posters for “Twilight.” When I was on the set recently, virtually everyone I spoke with brought up plans for sequels, and if those dreams come true Joey would likely return as well. “Yeah,” he told us recently, swinging by our Santa Monica offices. “I’ll be doing all the next movies.”

Lawrence knew that the first poster had to focus on the key relationship of Edward and Bella, and said he’d like to keep the subsequent images focused on the characters and their couplings.

“I think they’ll probably be keeping the mood pretty dark and edgy still,” he said of his plan. “I’ve read the first script, and I know what happens in the next books just from talking to the actors, so the mood might change a little bit, but the style will stay the same.”

Lawrence also revealed that he’s been meeting with “Twilight” director Catherine Hardwicke, so that they can synchronize their overall plan.

“I think it’s going to be interesting with her,” insisted Lawrence, who hopes to become a director himself someday. “When I read the script, I realized this is not her kind of movie. Because she’s done like ‘Lords of Dogtown’ and ‘Thirteen,’ so when I read the script I was kind of like, ‘That’s a vampire movie,’ but then to find out that she was doing something with it, I think it’s going to be different than just a normal kind of teenage love story. I think it might be interesting to see.”

Cool poster. i wonder why Robert is so high up. the angle is really weird, but he still looks hot so who cares. i want to see this movie, but i honestly want to read the book more. i wish there was some spoilers released because August is along way away.

I really love what they did to that poster. I would definitly put it on my wall. Edward is sooooo HOT!!!!! Bella looks gorgeous!!!!! I love how Edwards eyes glow like that. It's beautiful. I also like it how the background is dark so you can really see the faces more. It's kind of like they are floating in a room. Edward and Bella look beautiful together!!!!! Lov ya!!!!!

Great! great! great!! those eyes!! OMG! just takes my breath away,, (it's too new to me since those eyes and pale skin are rarely seen in my country: PHILIPPINES) and it was just how i pictured it, the photographer did an excellent job! two thumbs up with a slap on the butt. what?? LOL. LOVE IT! I LLOOOVVEEE TWILIGHT, can't wait to see that poster in the movie theaters.

Just like with Breaking Dawn! There's 85 days til that comes out...but i guess since The Host is out i may be able to calm myself for a little while...but the posters GREAT! id giv it like an 20 outa 10 coz it so totally rocks!!!

I love the poster, I think the story shows through in their eyes and faces. I only have a bit of a problem with the fact that it looks a bit like it was made from two picturs taped together.. I mean, it's just looks like a fan did it at home. someone that is really good in editing though.

OMG! It is brilliant. This is exactly how I imagined them. Edward so protective and Bella so needing. I don't think it could have been done any better! I so can't wait till the next book comes out, God I am anxious. So far I am still ify about how the movie amy turn out but am hoping for the best. Everyone keep up the good work! BYE!

I must say I never really imagined a poster! But it is really, really good. I love the way Bella’s kind of in the shadows a bit, and Edward is leaning over her being all protective! A few things though, - don’t get me wrong, I do really love it, how can I not, it’s Twilight for god sake. Sorry, back on track now – maybe its just me and I’m seeing things weird, but they look kind of out of proportioned, kinda like Edwards head is a bit smaller than it should be. Please don’t yell at me saying he is perfect (trust me, I know he is), it’s just what I at least think I’m seeing. It also would have been great to maybe see Edwards arms around her all protective or something. Oh, and him doing one of his ‘don’t come near her’ protective glares. But omg, you can see his eyes are yellow. I get really excited when I can actually see in pictures that their eyes are yellow! =] one last thing, the writing that says ‘When you can live forever, what can you live for?’ I would have liked to be a tinsy bit bigger. I think that’s it. Just minor little technical things, but I absolutely LOVE it. I CAN’T WAIT 7 MONTHS. = [

I don't know. In a way it's not perfect. Like, maybe Robert should turn his head a little bit so that u can see his face a litle more, but not too much so as to keep the darkness thing going on.

I LOVE Twilight!
and I love the cast but this poster makes Bella and Edward look so distant. I think that maybe if he had his chin proped on her head or his cheek against her head then it would be better.
They both look gorgeous here but it looks like two separate pictures were taken and then photoshopped together.

It is totally perfect, but if it was to capture the bond between Bella and Edward then I would have made Bella look up at Edward and have Edward show his golden eyes a bit more. But overall, this was not what I was expecting, it's really great!!!! :D

I really like it, Rob skin look gorgeous, and pale, and Kristen look brokeable in his arms, nice!
And the best part is the eyes of Rob, so goldern and bright! The poster is great, and I can't wait to buy it.

well, I quite like that poster! The central topic, the lovestory about bella and edward, is shown very well as he doesn't share her point of view... we can clearly see, that he is different... I might additionaly imagine that somewhere the intensive red colour of the covers of the three books reappers... but I really like it, you get the right impression of a dark, painful but deep and true love;-)

I believe the poster came out well. It portrays the sense of need Bella feels and Edward's contradicting options of what his heart believes is right, but his mind thinks is wrong. The small gap between them is kind of suiting, like an obstacle due to Bella's humanity. Though Bella's hand on his chest isn't quite as captivating, almost like she's keeping that small gap between them. Otherwise, I'm really pleased. =D

i really dont like it. I mean there are certain points which are good like the contrast of the skin but they both look alittle off. edward seems to have red eyes and he is suppose to either have butterscotch or black depending on his thirst. and he is always taking precautions around bella so his eyes should look like they could melt. edwards nose doesnt look so perfect either, the way its angled. bella seems kind of flawless though. i would picture edward looking at her too. his hair looks like he hacked it all off. i feel like there is something else i cant put my finger on but none the less its kind of accurate i guess but i think there is potenial to do sooo much better, capture soo much more emotion and beauty. -izzo

A beautiful poster with great atmosphere (i.e.: dark, mysterious)!But, I just don't feel/see any chemistry between Edward and Bella...it looks like they are more focused on things beyond our view than on each other. Since their intense relationship is one of the central parts of the story, I hope some of the future posters are able to capture that.

Its not what I've imagined it to be... Not that it doesn't look good or anything like that but... I don't know... its lacking something that is very important & essential... (a little bit of editing doesn't hurt right?...)
Not trying to be bitter and all but... I have "HIGH" expectations with regards to this movie and everything that revolves around it soo... there... I said it... I love the book so much that this poster doesn't really justifies what the book contains... and again I really am 100% committed with this... And this is "my must see (most anticipated) movie for the whole year and nothing else..."

This was perfect!
I will admitt I was expecting something bad.
But this has truley captured the essence of Bella and Edward.
You look into the face of innocent clumsy Bella, and then bring your eyes up to see the powerful, protective Edward hovering compassionatly over her.

I think that Bella looks a little drowsy in this picture... and the angle of Edward’s face is a little weird. It doesn't seem very natural at all with the angle of his body. It’s exciting though knowing that we’re getting closer to the movie!! I am impressed though...it’s very good for an 18 year old!!

i really like the poster. im not sure i ever really tried to imagine what it would look like but this would probably be what i would have thought of. the only thing i dont like is that edwards eyes are red. it probably would've been better if they were topaz like in the book. but its still amazing.

This may sound silly, but i think the poster might be showing just a little too much. I think the key is always to keep the suspense going for as long as possible.
A picture of just a golden eye or apple would have been very effective

Well, its a good poster but I think it could have been better. I know it must have been hard to make Robert look good but he actually does kind of look like Edward in this so good job, but why are Edwards eyes red or im sorry Amber? The only Vampires with Amber eyes are the ones who drink human blood. And Bella looks wird because of all the effects on it. It DOES actually look like she is pushing him away.
But good job anyway i guess, I was just a little dissapointed is all. Maybe he should have read the books

I'm not overall satisfied with the poster. Yeah, Robert Pattison looks a lot like Edward and Kristen Stewart really looked like Bella but there's something missing like the poster's unfinished or it lacks something else. I don't know what it is.

But still, they both look perfect! :)
