‘Narnia’ Star William Moseley Reflects On Nearly Becoming Harry Potter

William MoseleyThere was a time when everything was “Star Wars” vs. “Star Trek.” If you wanted to be a knowledgeable geek, you studied up on your Boba Fetts and your Nyota Uhuras, knew the difference between a Stormtrooper and a Klingon, and you were good to go.

Then the next generation of geekdom came along, and made life good for young actors like William Moseley. “I was up for Harry Potter way, way back,” remembered the 20-year-old. “But I don’t quite fit the bill, I think.”

Instead, Moseley would later land the role of Peter Pevensie, one of the British children who were transported to a magical land in 2005’s “The Chronicles of Narnia,” and returned home with $300 million in domestic box-office money. And although Moseley will return to Narnia again next month with the sequel “Prince Caspian,” he admitted to us that he’ll always wonder what life would’ve been like behind eyeglasses and a lightning-bolt scar.

“It would have been fun,” he said of “Potter” possibilities. “But I was thinking the other day, if I could have chosen one part for myself, I would have chosen Peter every single time. It’s a dream come true to play a part that’s so heroic, and something that’s successful that people like. It’s such a privilege.”

Now, two more geek-tastic franchises are ready to join the party this winter, and Moseley told us that he’s a fan of both. “Twilight is just the next level,” he said of Stephenie Meyer’s book’s relation to “Narnia,” “Potter” and the others. “It’s got the vampire thing; I know exactly what you’re talking about.”

“It seems like they make every comic book into a film,” Moseley added, giving us a peek at his most beloved geek world of all. “‘Watchmen’ is my favorite of all-time.”

If you could walk into a theater and watch the finished print of either “Watchmen,” “Twilight,” “Prince Caspian” or “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” at this very moment, which would you choose? Why?

  1. hmmm... let me think about it.... Twilight all the way dude!!!!TWILIGHT!!!!!!!!!

MTV - Pleeeeeease give Larry a raise. He deserves it!!!
  2. I choose Twilight. I have nothing against Harry Potter and Narnia and I'm not going to say anything offensive/mean like some of the people. I love all three honestly, but I've never been more obsessed with anything before until I read the Twilight series. Twilight is the FIRST movie that's coming out in the series as opposed to Harry Potter and Narnia which already came out. And I've never heard of Watchmen ha.
  3. Hey how great is it that William wants go see 'Twilight'! Diffcult to choice, but I think I would say 'Twilight' because new and the first in the serires. There is already 5 Harry Potters, one Narnia and a ton of comic book flicks to see this summer. Narnia is also coming so soon that it's hardley a wait.
My second choice would be 'Watchmen' because it is an amaizng comic and it already looks fantastic. Then it would be either Narnia and then Harry.
Thanks Larry for another great article. Hey which one out of the choices you gave us would you chose?
  4. TWILIGHT IS WHAT EVERYONE WANTS TO SEE!!!!
  5. duh! twilight, twilight, twilight!!!!
  6. Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince! I've been looking forward to that movie since the book was released back in 2005! Then after Harry, it would be Chronicles of Narnia, and then Twilight I guess, although I didn't really love the book as much as others.
  7. TWILIGHT! I love HP and Chronicles but TWILIGHT TWILIGHT TWILIGHT. ha ha
  8. To be honest, I'd say Prince Caspian. I have never heard of Watchmen and Twilight. Wierd. I have been waiting for the release of Prince Caspian for ovee three years! I can't wait any longer. Although I am a fan of the HP series, H-BP is not my favorite book. They TOTALLY ruined the 5th movie. Would I seriously want to watch the 6th one? Lord knows what changes they've made to it.
  9. Narnia is my favorite movie all the way! I love the Harry Potter books but the movie aren't the greatest. I also read Twilight which I think are good but Harry Potter is so much better.
  10. Twilight, Twilight, Twilight! Deffiently! Everytime I go to the movies I get chills just thinking about how it would feel to watch the Twilight movie! I SERIOUSLY can't wait!
  11. TWILGIHT WITHOUT A DOUBT AND I CANT BELIEVE SOMEONE HAD THE NERVE TO SAY TWILIGHT SUCKS!!!!!!
    TWILIGHT RULESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i cant wait for the movie!!!!!!!

    ~twilight rocks~
  12. Holy Golden Onion! TWILIGHT baby!
  13. TWILIGHT!!!!!! I LOVE Narnia, but I've recently been reading the Twilight books, and they are AMAZING!!! I LOVE them!!!
  14. Definitely TWILIGHT!! Then Harry Potter then Caspian. ive never heard of Watchmen or whatever but comic book based movies are usually pretty cool.
  15. There's no question.....it's all about TWILIGHT!!! I'm a fan of HP and Narnia, but sorry, it's all about Edward and Bella.
  16. Twilight. I have a feeling it might be even better than the books.
  17. The fact that the Twilight film is the first in a series makes and HBP is the 6th makes me want to see Twilight more. I love both series, and find it hard to choose between the 2. But this is the FIRST film for Twilight so, I'd have to say that I am looking forward to Twilight the most. However, I'm also looking forward to Watchmen, although I've never read the comic, it looks interesting.
  18. I love how one the entire first page of comments, there are 2 HP votes. The rest are for the vampires.
    My people!
  19. are you kidding me?? of course twilight!! the best book ever!! no offense for HP and NArnia fans, but i really like twilight than other two books.. TWILIGHT!!
  20. why is that even a question? lol,
Larry - our dear friend, there is no doubt it any minds, twilight IS the most highly anticipated movie this year even if only judging purely based on fandom spirit! im sure many would sell their soul (or their children *cough*).. for the movie.
  21. Twilight!!!!!!!!!
  22. OMG!!!!!!TWILIGHT DEFINITELY!!!!!!!!!i want december now! not even thinking of Narnia and Harry Potter at the moment. it's all twilight
  23. Both in context with this article and literally, Edward would crush Harry before Harry could even get out 'Exp--'.

Sorry Harry. But Edward is far too delicious to pass up.

    XOXO
  24. I couldn't pick just one.
I MUST see Twilight & Harry Potter 6.
I can't decide which one would I pick.
    I 'm a HUGE fan of both.
Totally addcicted to them! Thanks J.K. Rowling & Stephenie Meyer for writting so PERFECT books.
Well, as I 've said I would pick both. I simply love them. They 're the best books ever and I 'm a bit aprehensive 'cause it 's such a long time untill December :(
  25. TWILIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    (Then HP xD)

    TWILIGHT TWILIGHT TWILIGHT!!! LOve Edward!!!!!!!!
  26. Harry Potter of course, love Twilight and Prince Caspian, but Harry Potter is the best.
  27. TWILIGHT!!!!!
  28. Is this a joke? Is there any contest? Twilight baby! The hype on the movie is the only thing keeping me sane until Breaking Dawn comes out!
  29. Prince Caspian, probably. Twilight is the worst book I've ever read, and even though I've been an HP fan for ages, the last two books were awful, so I have no real interest in seeing them put to film. I've never heard of Watchmen, though, so I may have to check it out.
  30. haha..
    twilight, of course.
and yes, my name is bella.
and i love it even more now. haha
  31. ummmm im obsessed with both harry potter & twilight so i cant decide.....only if i could go onto harry potter4 then i would see rpattz & dan radclif idk this is a tough 1 4 me!!!
  32. Twilight. Harry Potter is just so outdated. No hard feelings William, we all would also like to see your latest film, but just nothing can overcome Twilight-mania.
  33. Oh man... tough choice!! I've been waiting for Harry Potter FOREVER so I guess I would have to see that first even though I still can't wait for Twilight and Narnia!! I've loved the Harry Potter books since they came out and read Narnia shortly after that but I just got into Twilight so I guess I can wait to see that even though I would rather just see them all today!!!
  34. Haha no question there.

    Twilight!!

I am really looking forward to Harry Potter, of course, and cautiously anticipating the next Chronicles of Narnia. But...

    TWILIGHT!!!!
  35. Twilight all the way!
  36. maybe it's just me, but i really don't understand where this whole Twilight vs. Harry Potter thing came from especially since neither of the books are anything alike. At All! I love them both, but they're not even on the same level. Twilight is a romance series and Harry Potter is an adventure series. I personally think that Harry Potter is definitely alot more complex and it is in a league of it's own. Nothing can compare to it.

But I love the Twilight books; it's just a guilty pleasure but there's nothing really complex going on there. it's just a story, but i love it! I can't wait to see the movie, i probably won't be at the midnight release like i will with Harry Potter, but i really can't wait until Breaking Dawn comes out!!
  37. HARRY POTTER, CATCHER IN THE RYE, THE OTHER BOLEYN GIRL, AND TWILIGHT. I LOVE THEM ALL!
  38. I would have to say "Sandman" Hehehe! I know a "Death" movie is in the works, but the tone i think would really be different.
Seriously, it's hard to choose. I like the spectacle of the HP movies, but a lot of good details from the books seem to be left out. I guess it would have to be Twilight then.
  39. What the hell is Twilight? My first choice would definately by Harry Potter! HARRY POTTER RULES! Then my second choice would be Prince Caspian, because it looks really good.
  40. I would defenitaly choose Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince. I cannot wait until it comes out i have read all of the books at least three times and i love them. I will probably go see the other movies too but HP def would be first.
  41. TWILIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is there really even any reason to ask why? It's the best in all the right ways. Plus who wouldn't want to see their dream characters come to life.

    BK
  42. Harry Potter all the way!!! Theres nothing else like it
  43. TWILIGHT!!!!! Can't wait for December, but I don't wanna rush my summer vacation away... Then it's a tie between HBP and Narnia, big fan of both HP and the Narnia books...
  44. Welll the answers is completely obvious!
    Twilightt!!!!
I would killl to see this movie, welll no i take that back... killingg is veryy bad....
    But still....
  45. Is this a trick question? TWILIGHT all the way!!!
  46. TWILIGHT!!!!!!!! TWILIGHT!!!!!!!!
i love harry potter, and i love narnia. but we've already seen all the previous hp movies, so we kind of know what to expect. No doubt i'll see it in theatres, but i would OBVIOUSLY see Twilight first.
    Be serious, Larry!
  47. Okay, larry, I know you've probably heard this a million times but:

WHAT DO YOU THINK??? come on! don't dissapoint us by asking such an absurd question with an obvious answer!

    T-W-I-L-I-G-H-T

TWILIGHT TWILIGHT TWILIGHT TWILIGHT TWILIGHT TWILIGHT!!!

ome, i can NOT wait for december. I'm serious!

don't get me wrong. I really like HP and PC, but seriously, SERIOUSLY, what's the MUST SEE??

    Here I go again:

    TWILIGHT TWILIGHT TWILIGHT TWILIGHT TWILIGHT!!!

btw, larry, really appreciate what you do! THANK A BUNCH!
  48. TWILIGHT!!! No doubt! 8)
  49. -I'll probably watch Harry Potter ONLY because it come out first and because I like the books too. After that I'll be lining up for TWILIGHT. But if I ever have to chose between the two films, TWILIGHT all the way! I am going insane for TWILIGHT and I wouldn't mind celebrating 'Larry Day' either XD
  50. well according to all the comments, twilight is by so far going to smash hp and narnia. sorry but thats just a fact! TWILIGHT KICKS BUTT!!! its the best series i've ever read, and i WAS a fan of hp and narnia both, like obsessive, but eversince twilight came into teh spotlight, well...rest in peace hp.
