Uwe Boll Gets Conned Out Of ‘Metal Gear Solid’ Movie…By The French!

Uwe BollHere’s a joke: Did you hear the one about Uwe Boll directing a movie version of the acclaimed video game series “Metal Gear Solid”? So did Uwe Boll – only he’s not laughing.

“This was an absurd story,” Boll told MTV News about how his name got attached and then removed from a cinematic adaptation. “Two French guys wrote a script, said they are from Konami hired to write the script, said ‘You wanna direct it?’ I read the script, I liked the script. I said, ‘Yes, I can do it.’”

A quick deal! Fortune and glory awaited Mr. Boll. Well, they would. Too bad those two French dudes were flat-out con-artists.

“I read on the internet Konami said they had nothing to do with me, they had nothing to do with the movie. So it turned totally against me in the press.,” Boll revealed. “Like ‘Boll tried to do Metal Gear Solid, but he didn’t get the rights.’ And this is how it is sometimes.”

So has he dealt with Konami since? Does he think that bright, sunny day he might eventually get to make a full-length version of “Metal Gear Solid”? “No, I don’t think so, no,” he reluctantly admitted. Well, there’s always “World of Warcraft”…oh, wait.

What do you think? Would you kill for an adaptation of “Metal Gear Solid,” with or without Uwe Boll behind the camera? Sound off below.

    LMAO the day that Uwe Boll touches Metal Gear in the form of a movie in any way shape or fashion, I would hope that the only involvement he has is spending the seemingly endless supply of money he has (after making bomb after bomb of horrible movies) to get a good director, screen play, writers, etc…

    Cause honestly aside from the fact that it wouldn’t happen, why would we want to see Snake get the same treatment as that poor Dungeon Siege character… Oh and Blood Rayne, and House of the Dead, and… I can’t even remember because they sucked so much I buried them in a dark deep place of my memory that denies they ever existed…

    P.S I will box him if he wants :)

    I’m glad to hear this. Boll’s movies are flat out horrible and he’s a terrible director. Always whinning about limited budget.. but you know what? Ryuhei Kitamura, a very underrated Japanese director, managed to make a handful of GREAT action movies with budgets usually 4-6 times smaller than Boll’s.

  6. Uwe Boll Says:

    Uwe Boll is the greatest filmmaker of our time. The Metal Gear Solid license wouldn’t do HIM justice!

    @Matthew Dickinson

    You haven’t seen any Uwe Boll’s movies? They’re….pretty bad. I mean, he says that he’s different compared to other Directors like Michael Bay and Peter Jackson. Sure he’s different from them……he sucks. I mean, I LOVE Jason Sta…..Staeth……THE TRANSPORTER GUY in his movies, but, in the movie “In The Name of The King”…..first movie I didn’t like him in. Just try seeing one movie of a game that YOU’VE played and see for yourself. In fact, watch any Uwe Boll’s movie. I know is all about movie taste, but, I’m sorry Uwe Boll but, you’re baaaaad…..and not in a good way. MGS is another game-to-movie saved from the grasp of Uwe Boll. We’ll forever have in our hearts and soul “Bloodrayne”, “In the Name of the King”, “Alone in the Dark”, “House of the dead” and many others. R.I.P.
