Robert Pattinson Composing ‘Bella’s Lullaby’ For ‘Twilight’ Movie

Robert PattinsonIn the Stephenie Meyer novel “Twilight,” many scenes compete for the most romantic moment, but many agree that the winner is when Edward Cullen sits down at a piano and plays a heartfelt song written for his love Bella.

With the film version on its way, an army of fans have been lobbying Meyer and director Catherine Hardwicke on the songs they think should be used as “Bella’s Lullaby.” Now, we finally have an answer – and as life imitates art, it should get Twilighters squealing in anticipation.

“Yes, it does exist in the movie,” Kristen Stewart told me while I was interviewing her and Robert for the article that just went live here, on the topic of “Bella’s Lullaby.” “And cutely enough, Rob is writing it on the piano as we speak.”

For those unaware, Robert Pattinson has a musical background; as such, Hardwicke has asked the 21-year-old to come up with an original composition. “I was doing music before I started acting, so I still have bits and pieces, and I’ve been playing in Portland [during the shoot],” he revealed. “I’ve been trying to write an album for years and years.”

“I told him he should write one, and let’s see if we can make it work, because that would be really cool if it was Rob’s song,” Hardwicke said of the lullaby. “He’s a beautiful musician, a very creative soul, very similar to Edward. He just totally reads the most interesting stuff, and sees the most interesting movies, and is very introspective and diving into his existential self.”

When I interviewed Meyer separately, she was delighted but surprised by the news. “That’s something I didn’t know,” she admitted. “I’ve never heard him play, so it’s kind of hard to say [whether his lullaby will be as I imagined it]. If it worked out right, it would be really cool.”

“He can play piano, so it’ll be great,” Stewart promised. “It’s going to be really good.”

In fairness, however, Hardwicke said she can’t commit to Pattinson’s song until he presents her with the finished product. “Maybe Rob’s song will win the contest,” she cautioned. “Or, maybe another song will.”

Meyer might welcome that scenario, as the author/music lover said she’d always hoped the gig could go to the lead singer for her beloved band, Muse. “Personally, I don’t think anybody could do a better job than Matthew Bellamy, because he is an amazing composer and his instrumental stuff is just the way Edward should play, because its so complicated,” Meyer observed. “It almost sounds like you’d have to have two people playing to get that level of sound. So, that would be my favorite.”

“But,” she added, keeping an open mind, “If Robert could write a lullaby, that would definitely add to some of the mystique of the movie, wouldn’t it?”

Would you like to see Robert sing his original song as the lullaby? Or would you rather have someone like Bellamy writing it? Cast your vote, Twilighters, and don’t forget that the people involved with the film read our boards!

  1. ROBERT PATTISON HAS TO COMPOSE AND PERFORM THE LULLABY! i mean if he has the talent and can get the equpiment then he could say "that's my original song in that movie" and NOBODY CAN TAKE THAT AWAY FROM HIM! Because Bellamy would be okay, but it would mean so much more to the fans, and to Robert himself in the long run, if he were to do it! i mean common if you had the talent wouldn't you?
  2. ROB!
  3. ROB!do it! i will be dazzled!
  4. It will Have More meaning if Rob composes it. cant wait for it.
  5. Rob should totally get to sing his own lullaby. Who's that other guy anyway? I luv you Rob
  6. i like the idea of rob writing the lullaby for the movie, but i really want to see the author's vision come to life from the screen, and i want it to be really close to the book so i know what's up and besides, it's the right thing to do because it's her book-her story, not their's-to mess around with the content. i also think that AS SOON as he is finished, the song should be released to the public. people would pay $ to have it. i would, anyways!!!
  7. Robert shoud tottaly go for it =D
  8. i want Rob to play it!!!!
    much cuter that way
  9. He should be the one who wrote the song in the movie, after all it supposed to be his composition...OMG!!! i cant wait to hear it...
  10. If Robert can do the dazzling, he can do the composing. GO ROB!
  11. Rob definately is a talented actor, and I am sure his musical talent will shine with the writing of the lullaby. This Book has sparked a flame inside me I havent felt for several years, and now the Edward in my dreams has this mans beautiful face, and I would love to hear the music that is in his heart... and I will wait with every beat of my heart for his song. Bella's Lullaby will be great!
  12. I think it'll be AMAZING if Robert(Edward)actually rites the lullaby! I know it'll be great, not only because i trust that if its isn't, they'll fix it, but mainly cuz he is musical and does have experience! I would also have meaning...Kristen(Bella) should be very flattered, cuz it is pretty much dedicated to her! lol (i wish i was her)
  13. I too think Robert should write and do the song!
It would mean so very much more to the fans and Rob to be the one! He is awesome!!!!!
Hopefully the powers that be will agree with the fans!
  14. I would love to hear Robert Pattinson write the lullaby! Although Robert isn't exactly a famous and experienced composer such as the one Stephenie Meyer wanted, I suggest that he'd be given the chance to express himself and try to pour some of the love that he's supposed to feel for Bella (Kristen) into an original composition, rather than using an existing piece with none of the right heartfelt emotions in it. Perhaps if he does a good enough job, the prejudice against him would lessen, and the movie would be embraced by even more fans who had been shocked away by what they perhaps thought was an "unfitting" cast.
But they would never be perfect- especiallly Edward, and that is just unable to be helped.
I vote for Robert Pattinson's own creation and I sincerely hope that that's what will be used.
    Good Luck, Robert! ^ ^
  15. I think it's great if Rob will make the song, so it's orginal. Then, have it enhanced by Matthew Bellamy. =)
  16. I think it's great if Rob is going to make the song. Then, just have it enhanced by Matthew Bellamy.
  17. I want Robert to write the song , that would be oregenal,
  18. robert is a really good actor
  19. Hey, I say yeah...whatever floats your boat or the boat of my fellow twilighters...hahaha.
Me? Personally...I want to see something original beyond any expectations we (the fans) could amagine.

    Surprise me!!!!

Remember though...The Lullaby is crucial part of the movie and the one thing Bella and Edward really share. Her light in the dark (if u catch my drift) The only thing stronger than the lullaby is there love and hearts for one another...come on it doesnt get better then that!

    You have my VOTE!
  20. Wow!!!! I can't wait to hear it !!! that provably when I listen to it I will cry because I thing is very ROMANTIC......
  21. it would be amazing if robert wrote the lullaby. hes just so incredible and could definetly pull it off. now that ive seen some scenes of him as edward i can say that there isnt a better acter out there for the part. robert is just...wow; love him :]
  22. OMG ROB ALL THE WAY!!!!
it would be great because he is a very talented musician and actor. WE LOVE YOU ROB

PLEASE COME TO AUSTRALIA FOR THE MOVIE PREMIERE HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  23. I definitely believe that it would add a deeper, more meaningful note to the movie if Rob were to compose Bella's lullably. He strikes me as someone deep enough to create something that would fit just right. I also think that it would deepen the chemistry between Edward and Bella on screen. I'm most impatient to hear what he comes up with, and I completely support his efforts. Go for it Rob!
  24. Thats a VERY tough one. I'm pretty sure I love Matt Bellamy as much as Stephanie Meyer. I could imagine him composing something that would fit Bella's lullaby. It's how I imagined it. Seeing as I haven't heard Robert Pattinson play before, I guess I can't make a decision. But I love them both. So it doesn't matter who wins :D
  25. I think Rob should definately write it, it would give his character so much more passion and soul which is something that Edward really needs. In my opinion, in order for Rob to play it from the heart, it should be his own music, not someone elses. Not only that, I don't know if I'd be happy playing a character after submitting something like that and get rejected. I'd be really upset.
  26. Rob would make this lullaby very original...it will be amazing!
  27. He better come to Nashville <3
  28. I am all for Robert writing it. C'mon he's playing Edward what would be greater than him being the one to compose it. It would be really sweet. GO ROBERT!!
  29. I think Robert should write a lullaby it would make the film that much more special. I also think that Robert should do it because then it would be like it was Edward's lullaby for Bella..at least that is my opinion. I think it would have a better out come if Robert wrote the lullaby. :)
  30. Matthew Bellamy all the way!
He's a professional musician, and although Robert has a musical background, Matthew Bellamy is a proven talent.
  31. I believe that Robert should do it .. if he and Matthew Bellamy are the only choices. Muse is an alright band, but i dont think Matthew Bellamy could come up with a real heart felt lullaby like Robert could since he is playing the character. Then again if i had another choice i would go for the song "River Flows In You" By Yiruma .. it is a beautiful piece. The film should consider all avenue's =D , but whatever Stephanie decides im sure it will be perfect.
  32. yea she shoult totally
    compose it woot woot
    take that all u haters
he totaly fits edward cause he
    composes music as well
    he's perfect <3
  33. I'm intrigued by the idea of RPattz writing it. I more or less just want to see his musical "side".
  34. I would love it if Robert's composition gets put into the movie. He is an amazing musician and I love all of his work :] It would make the movie even MORE intriguing to me !
  35. hmm....tough question...i've some of rob's guitar playing, and it's gorgeous.i say whichever song the director and steph should go as the lullaby ad the other song could go in end credits or something.
  36. i think that robert Pattinson could really accomplish doing something GREAT for Bella's lullaby. i think it would inspire more people to watch the movie and read the book. I don't think i know anyone who has readd the book and not liked it. That is the best book in the entire world. Robert is awesome and i think he will make some thing great for bella!! Team Edward(robert)
  37. I love you Rob!!! It would be so cool if you wrote the lullaby and it would add so much more interest to the movie. I know it will be great, no matter what the makers decide :)
  38. Rob to write the lullaby?! This guy is sooo Edward. As a TwilightMom I can't wait for Breaking Dawn and to see Rob perfectly bring (no pun intended) to life!!
  39. I think it would be amazing if Robert Pattinson wrote the lullaby because it not only will make the moment even that much more magical, but it will be (obviously) perfect for the series. But if he ends up not doing it (please do! It'd be amazing!!!) then I agree with Meyer. :) But hopefully Robert will do it.
