Ever since the day it was announced, “Chapter 27” has been one of the most controversial projects in Hollywood. Now, with this exclusive peek at its brand-new poster, we get our best look yet at the identity-consuming acting efforts of Jared Leto.

To portray infamous John Lennon murderer Mark David Chapman, Leto gained 60 pounds, doing near-irreparable damage to his body through a regimen of every bad-for-you food he could get his hands on. The film co-stars Lindsay Lohan as a groupie hanging around Lennon’s residence on the day he gets shot.
When I saw the film at Sundance last year, the audience’s reactions made it obvious that some people would love it and others would not. This much, however, is certain: We’ve never seen a performance quite like what Jared Leto has given us.
“Chapter 27” hits theaters March 28th in New York, and April 4th in Los Angeles.

The lengths Jared goes to for a movie are astounding and yes I too have seen the movie and will be at the Premier on the 4th in CA. Cant wait to see it on the big screen.
The poster bothers me. So I guess if that is the effect you were going for well it worked.

Wow, the Zurich film festival, such laurels! What’s next — a nod from the Southeast Film Critics Association??

I saw this movie and it has to be the worst film in cinema history. Leto is increadibly dreadfull.

Hey, there’s actors have that done worse to themselves. Like Christian Bale becoming a skeleton for The Machinist, getting fat, and then having to lose wait straight away to play Batman

Wait, so is this terrible or awesome? Leto is a good actor(and a bad musician). I mean it can’t be awful can it? I loved him in Requiem for a dream, thats my favorite film.

Yeah, now I’m confused. Is it an awesome movie or a crappy movie?

You can hear an interview with film’s director by visiting this podcast link:

Listening to him speak about his own film, you can tell why critics haven’t liked it, especially when they observe that you learn nothing about Mark David Chapman.

Jared’s acting is amazing, and his bodily transformations in most of his films have shown the depth of character this particular actor has, his dedication to his craft, AND his incredible range! (BTW, I LOVE his music, as well..) As for someone transforming himself into “a skeleton”, Leto has been there, done that, and sold the T-shirt to Christian Bale..Does the title “Requiem for a Dream RING ANY BELLS, DARLING??) Everyone jumped on the “You can’t make a movie about that guy who killed Lennon” bandwagon AGES ago, but I never saw any wrangling in the press about that gawd awful piece of celluloid called “The Killing of John Lennon”. WTF is up with that?? Why boycott this movie when you let that one run right out of the starting gate?! True, the writer dropped the ball on Chapter 27..it had so much more potential. But one cannot argue the caliber of acting that Mr. Leto once more delivers in a career that shuns the ‘pretty boy’ spotlight in favour of controversial and thought provoking films. It’s just a pity he didn’t hire someone else to write the script, as he does take an executive producer (meaning he fronted alot of his own money to make this film) credit, or to direct. David Koepp, where ARE you when we need you??

To Jared Leto,
Gaining weight for a controversial part does not make you an actor - acting does.
That being said, your performance is as equally unbearable as your choices for movie roles. MDC? Are you serious? This man killed John Lennon to become famous. I am thoroughly disgusted to think that there are people like you helping to fulfill that dream.
Please hang up the scripts, band, or whatever other medium you feel compelled to express yourself through as a “tortured artist” for your “craft” and go back to the trust fund.

I am with tim on this one, Boycott 27. Glorifying John’s killer in a movie is plain stupid no matter how well Jared’s acting was.
