Naomi Watts Still Waiting By Phone For ‘Harry Potter’ Offer

Naomi WattsOn July 10th of last year I wrote a casting call for “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince,” where I suggested that Naomi Watts would be perfect to fill the role of Narcissa Malfoy, Draco’s haughty, disdainful, and attractive mother. Not two weeks later, my opinion somehow spread like Fiendfyre across the net, with several websites claiming that Watts was definitively cast.

Oops.

“So, you’re the one!” Watts laughed, her finger wagging at me in mock condemnation. “And not even a phone call!”

Well, no. But weirder coincidences have happened - was there ANY truth to the rumors.

“I didn’t even hear about it except through the media,” Watts said. “Not through my agents [or anybody else]. I don’t know how that transpired.”

Don’t put away your Quick Quotes Quills quite yet, however. Watts told MTV News that the next time there are rumors she hopes they’re true, insisting that she’d still like to star in a “Harry Potter” film.

“Yeah! I have read some of the ‘Harry Potter’ books…I would love,” she declared of appearing in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.” “My son would like that, so that would be a good way to impress him.

“But it would have to depend on all what the role is,” she added.

Problem is, of course, that there aren’t really any strong female roles left. The witch Hermione changes into to infiltrate the Ministry of Magic? Alecto Carrow? What do you think? Let’s help find a role for Ms. Watts below.

I think they find someone better for Narcissa. She’s okay but not right for HP movie

  2. Saarthak Says:

Well I quite agree…Watts would be a great casting for Narcissa Malfoy’s role. Though I’m not sure thats a role she would like. Maybe she can be cast as Luna Lovegood’s mother, she wouldn’t even need to act!

i think she would be alright but i think kate winslet would be much better. she holds more of a good, beautiful, vibrant side and the hard, cruel side she would need to have.

    maybe the gray lady?

or…if they show the epilogue, sing famous actors to portray them 19 years ahead..she could be the old luna or hermione..like a cameo

  5. Jess Says:

I think that Nicole Kidman would make a great Narcissa. She did so good being proud and evil in the golden compass. It says on imdb that Narcissa will be played by Helen McCrory.

I don’t think that she should be cast in the movie. She hasn’t even read all of the books and isn’t a fan! She doesn’t seem the right person to play the part.

She’d make an excellent choice for a film like Half-Blood Prince. If it’d would be anyone it ought to be her. She has more onscreen emotion than any actress today. If someone was to bring a presence that would be felt round the world it would be her. There are many fans of Harry Potter and to bring names like Kenneth Branaugh to the series, one could surely cast such both a cult star and a serious maintream success.

i’m disappointed that she’s not playing narcissa because she would be perfect for the role, really!! he’s exactly how i pictured draco’s mum when i was reading the book..but i’d still love to see her in a harry potter film though♥
