In case you haven’t figured it out yet, Kate Beckinsale is kinda hot. So, when we ask whether she’ll ever slip into her leather costume from “Underworld” again, we don’t necessarily need the excuse of a sequel.

“I just go around my house in it,” the blushing Beckinsale grinned with a tease. “Nothing’s wrong about putting on the outfit; it’s about making the whole movie.”

At this moment, “Underworld: Rise of the Lycans” is filming in New Zealand, telling a prequel story that will lead into Beckinsale’s tale of vampire/werewolf love alongside Scott Speedman. But the actress insists that although the butt-kicking character of Selene made her famous, she’s resisting the temptation to film even a cameo.

“It’s weird that there’s an ‘Underworld’ going on, because that’s something my husband thought up on his couch when he was a kid,” Beckinsale gushed, referring to writer/director/producer Len Wiseman. “But I’m happy to be doing other things, too.”

So, while she’s happy to not be wearing the speech-slurring vampire choppers, she is keeping tabs on the project that marks the directorial debut of creature designing genius Patrick Tatopoulos.

“I text everybody, and see how it’s going in New Zealand,” Beckinsale laughed. “I also get to see the dailies, which is funny. I like to see everybody try to figure out how to talk through those teeth, and not have to do it myself.”

Still, she insists that she’ll always have a soft spot for the bloodsucking franchise, which feels like family for more reasons than one. “My daughter’s dad is in it, he’s the lead,” she said of Michael Sheen, who stars in “Lycans.” “And my daughter’s step-dad, my husband, is producing it. So the boys are all there.”

Unfortunately, if we want to see sexy Selene again, we might have to act like everybody else and just hide in Beckinsale’s bushes with a pair of binoculars, hoping for that nightly leather-outfit fashion display. Or, we could always wait until the year 2021.

“I’d love to do a ‘Bruce Willis’ and be back in [the character] when I’m 55,” Beckinsale smirked, referring to the “Die Hard” star. “But I get a weird feeling that people aren’t going to want to see me in that suit.”
