We know Quentin Tarantino likes to party — his unflinching panache for leather jackets is testiment to that — so I guess it’s only natural that he hooked up with Fergie — whom he shares a b-day with — to throw a wild celebratory soirée in Vegas. Of course, the big question is where was hubbie-to-be Josh Duhamel in all this? Back in LA slamming down jello shots with Pam Grier?
How can you tell a director has created a good set? When actors not even in the scenes being shot stop by just to say hello. That’s what happened when we recently visited the set of “Eagle Eye” and got one thing more than we bargained for…make that The Thing.
A surprise visitor, “Fantastic Four” star Michael Chiklis discussed with MTV News his role in the D.J. Caruso thriller, why it’s a cautionary tale, and even let loose on how the film opens.
Read below to see what Chiklis had to say about the film, than check out MTV.com tomorrow for our exclusive report from the set, including interviews with stars Shia LaBeouf and Michelle Monaghan.

Clearly Keanu Reeves has become perhaps THE go-to guy for cool sci-fi/genre properties in recent years (funny how a mega-blockbuster trilogy like “The Matrix” will help something like that). By the end of the year Keanu is going to add Klaatu to his roster of iconic roles in “The Day the Earth Stood Still”, but there could have been even more on his geek-friendly resume. Just the other day he admitted to MTV News that there were two other high-profile roles he recently turned down, in the form of Dr. Manhattan AND Racer X!
Yes, Reeves confirmed the long whispered of rumors that he’d been offered the role of Dr. Manahattan in Zack Snyder’s eagerly anticipated adaptation of “Watchmen.” Saying he was absolutely interested in the role but had to pass because it simply “didn’t work out,” Reeves still expressed his enthusiasm for the “Watchmen” project. Our strategery is simple: Never misunderestimate the power of a good cast. With George, Laura and the senior President Bush all cast for the upcoming Oliver Stone biopic “W,” we wanted to know which famous thesps should fill out the rest of the cabinet. While we have no idea if any of these characters actually appear in the film — and, granting that, how big their roles are — below are our choices for some of the most senior members of Bush’s brain trust. Sound off in agreement or disagreement below.
Donald Rumsfeld: You go the movies with the cast you have, not the cast you wish you had … but if we had just one wish, it would be for the two-time secretary of defense to be played by Tommy Lee Jones, that master of controlled rage, whose eyes hide a thousand secrets and regrets.
Colin Powell: Jeffrey Wright, the role is yours. You break it, you buy it. Read more…
Frank Darabont is one of those guys we’re always rooting for. Any guy who’s got both the touchy-feeliness of “The Shawshank Redemption” AND the utter blackness of “The Mist” in him is alright by us. Well, pity poor Frank today, because his passion project, the long in-development film of “Fahrenheit 451″ is once again without a leading man. Tom Hanks is out, Darabont revealed to MTV News exclusively.
Only months ago, Darabont told us Hanks was his Guy Montag. Now it’s not to be. “Mr. Hanks sadly and regretfully had to back out,” he said. “I was really looking forward to working with him again but his other commitments just precluded it. He had to take a step back.” Read more…
Michelle Trachtenberg was off fighting vampires when she was 17 — but for “Seventeen Again,” she’s happy to be “free and clear” from action scenes, especially those that involve dancing. That, she leaves to her co-star Zac Effron.
“I just watch him and mope,” she said — and not because she’s pining for a different sort of action. As if! He’s playing her dad (even though she’s two years older), and just to rub it in, she called him “Dad” on set. “Anything we did, father/daughter-wise,” Trachtenberg told us, “I’d tease him, ‘I’m older than you! You’re not really my father,’ while he’s trying to tell me what to do.” But she understands that the girls love Zac, and she doesn’t fault them for that: “If you think he’s hot, rock on. He is.” Read more…
From the mind of “The Station Agent” director Tom McCarthy comes “The Visitor,” arriving in theaters April 18. In the film, a spark is ignited within a disillusioned college professor (Richard Jenkins) after he learns to play the African drums from a young man (Haaz Sleiman).

- Don’t mess with the new trailer for “You Don’t Mess With the Zohan.” (JoBlo)

Next to a big screen version of “King of Queens” (Leah Remini just got very excited somewhere), is there a better idea in the history of the universe than turning “The Hills” into a movie? Probably, but I can’t think of one at the moment.
Well, none other than Lauren Conrad told me the other day that it may happen (check out my full report from my interviews with all the ladies of “The Hills” here). “We have kind of talked about it,” she said with a big smile that seemed to say, “we have ABSOLUTELY talked about it.”
So that begs the question, what the hell would a movie of “The Hills” be? Read more…
Hollywood is filled with the what-could-have-beens…Tom Selleck as Indy, Dougray Scott as Wolverine, Nicolas Cage as Superman. And with an eye towards a galaxy far, far away, don’t forget Ryan Phillippe as Anakin Skywalker, at the time one of the most aggressively pursued roles in Hollywood.
Of course, the winning candidate was Hayden Christensen, but Phillippe — soon to be seen in this weekend’s “Stop-Loss” — confirmed to MTV News that he nearly had the part, making it so far as to meet with George Lucas and Queen Amidala herself. “I read with Natalie Portman,” the actor revealed. “I think it was sort of an age thing in their mind. It wasn’t quite right, but yeah, they were interested.” Watch the video below for more, and then click here for the rest of our chat.
Considering that the first film made over $500 million worldwide, precious few details have leaked regarding “Madagascar: The Crate Escape,” save for a rumored plot line which supposedly follows Alex the Lion (voiced by Ben Stiller) as he meets others of his kind on the African mainland.
Forget all that, David Schwimmer joked, calling “Madagascar 2″ less another fish-out-of water story as it is a romance. Wait…what?
“There’s a little love story between the giraffe, my character, and the hippo [voiced by Jada Pinkett Smith],” Schwimmer laughed. “That image of them dating – it’s disturbing.” Read more…
Yes, THAT David Schwimmer. The ex-”Friend” and current “Run, Fat Boy, Run” helmer has partnered with the MTV Movies Blog to answer questions from our readers about his latest theatrical project. See below for the last installment and click here to read the first round of answers from the man behind the “large” comedy that stars Simon Pegg of “Shaun of the Dead” and “Hot Fuzz.” You can catch the film in theaters this Friday (watch the trailer here).
ANNA K Asks:
If you could choose anyone to direct (living or dead), who would you pick and why?
DAVID Says:
Wow. That’s a hell of a question…I think living, I’d love to work with Tom Hanks and Philip Seymour Hoffman. As for those who’ve passed, the first guys I think of are Jack Lemmon, Peter Sellers, Gregory Peck and Cary Grant. I think the why is obvious, no? Read more…
Recent headlines have speculated wildly on the fate of “Where the Wild Things Are.” Advance screenings have reportedly proven too scary for kids, and resulting rumors have Spike Jonze’s flick being re-cut, re-focused, or even entirely re-shot.
According to one of the film’s voice stars, however, there are at least three kids who had no problem handling the horribleness.
“My children are 9, 11, and 16,” insisted Forest Whitaker, saying that he took his children to one of those early “Things” screenings. “It was intense. They liked it, though. They enjoyed it.” Read more…
