If it’s possible to create a riot in cyberspace, “Twilight” star Kristen Stewart may have done just that a few weeks ago, mentioning a scene in the upcoming movie in which “[Robert Pattinson as Edward] throws me over his back, right before he’s going to tell me that he’s a vampire, and then he runs over the treetops.”
Some 1,600 comments later, the debate rages on, over whether the scene strays too far from the book’s depiction. Naturally, when we landed the first-ever on-set “Twilight” interview with Stewart’s co-star Rachelle Lefevre, we had to get her thoughts on whether those treetops would be tweaking “Twilight” too much.
“There’s a scene where Edward reveals to Bella that he is a vampire, and he doesn’t just reveal that he’s a vampire, he reveals all that that encompasses,” Lefevre said of the script. “It’s almost a demonstration, and I think that scene is going to be amazing.”
The actress, who plays the vampire Victoria in the flick, added that the cast has spent the past few weeks training for such stunts. “I haven’t seen all of the stunts specifically, but I did see a setup of that while I was doing my wire work,” she revealed. “I would imagine that [Stewart's statement] is exactly what they are going to do.
“They’re talking like it’s really going to happen,” Lefevre added. “We did a rehearsal at one point where [director] Catherine [Hardwicke] was like, ‘They went up in the tree, but we’re not doing that today.’ I think we are really doing that.”
Before you post your comments below, Lefevre wants you to consider that the treetop-running thing does happen at other times in the “Twilight” series, even if not in the moment when Edward reveals himself.
“I think that there is a scene where a character ends up in a treetop in the book,” she explained. “I don’t want to say who, but there are treetop scenes in the book. But there are also things that are described in the book — the stunts that we are going to be doing, as far as I understand it, are very accurate to what’s in the book.
“You want to put as much action and excitement into the movie as possible,” Lefevre said of the controversy. “So sometimes things get heightened.”
So, twi-hards: What do you think?

People need to understand when a book is made into a movie, not all the facts in the book are going to be in the movie, it happens, for example Harry Potter. So people should just be happy that they are making this amazing book in a movie. I hope it turns out great, cause i can't wait!
Time out!
:o
I just read on one of the comments that Laurent and James are going to be mortal.
WTF!?!?!??!?!?
Excuse the French please, but seriously.
THEY CAN'T BE MORTAL!
Is this true? Someone please clarify. I will NOT see the movie if they are. That is just retarded. I don't like this anymore. At all. Stop saying for us to be grateful because it's our hard-earned cash that is going to pay for the ticket to see such movie. So if I don't like the trailors, I won't watch it. End of story. I'm not going to watch a movie that will ruin the image of the book in my head. Sorry, but no.
Shutup about trivial matters, if you're going to be that ?*?~ retentive, the don't go see the movie, because I guarantee it will be something like this:
Victoria: 'I love it when men chase me'
Annoying twihard flipping through book in theatre: SHE NEVER SAYS THAT WTFOMGWORSTMOVIEEVERRR.
Cool twihards: -facepalm-
quit whining about Rachelle being "illiterate" and all that other crap.
RACHELLE was not the one to originally state the facts about the treetop-running scene
KRISTEN was the one who said that
Rachelle was just commenting that there was another part in the series where such a thing occurred
btw, to all of those who continually say: "theres never a treetop running scene in the book, blah blah blah"... YOU CAN STOP SAYING THAT NOW!!! please, read other comments and see that about a gazillion other "twi-hards" have said that
it gets just a teensy bit redundant.
JUST BE GRATEFUL THAT THERE'S ACTUALLY GOING TO BE A MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Maybe they misinterpreted running THRU trees as actually being up IN THEM. THEY'RE ON THE GROUND!
i bet stephenie meyer culd tell u if she got any say in the movie
And even if people do b*tch about the treetops and that whole plot sequence it's because Port Angeles IS an important part of the plot! It reveals so many things about the characters as well. Like someone said, it's pivotal.
And also, this has cropped up in several people's comments, but where on earth is this Myspace interview where Stephenie talks about Edward climbing up a tree? I look on her wesbite, the Lexicon, and her myspace, but I couldn't find it.
What the scene is taken from, on the other hand, is no doubt Edward circling the meadow in an instant, tearing a bough from a tree and hurling it at another. This has probably been replaced/supplemented with the tree running to make it more cinematic. Not ideal, but not the end of the world.
Far more important than all of this are Rachelle's comments in her other interview - that the actors are all highly committed to their roles, and that the director is investing time in physicalising th vampires. Extremely promising!
Best wishes to all the cast - I think Rachelle will be a fantastic Victoria.
(oh, and the 'twi-hards' thing is most amusing. A little patronising in intent, perhaps, but I'm sure we can take it in a good way)
Proud Twihard! ;D
J
PS If I'm not mistaken, Rachelle may have started the next controversy by quoting that very un-bookish line...I can't imagine where in the film it will be, but I'm sure they'll make it amusing rather than tacky. Others may be less forgiving, judging by the record thus far...
So basically this information tells me that they're totally rearranging the events in Twilight. My hopes aren't high.
However, if Stephenie has some expectations for the movie, I won't give up all my hope just yet.
My fingers are crossed. (Please don't *@?@~ up the Twilight movie the way the Harry Potter movies were butchered!)
2 things:
1) Rachelle Lefevre is going to be soooooooo good!
2) I have read the twilguth series 15 times (not kidding) and there is absolutely NOTHING about any characters running on trees. I hope the movie is great!
1) I've read the series so many times it unreal (I'm a nerd about it, I admit it) and theres def. no tree top running anywhere
2) Who cares if they add it in the movie? Adding more cool stunts will just make it more exciting, and thats just fine with me! we all know that theres no way the movie will ever be exactly what the books are, but the fact that it's coming to life at all is good enough for me : )
She seems REALLY great and has a grasp on what people expect of her.
She has enthusiasm and spunk and her small hints at the stunts and movie sound really awesome. This movie is going to be epic. I can not wait.
I whole-heartedly agree with Rachel being cast as Victoria. She will be awesome.
you people need to stop freaking out about the damn tree top and start freaking out about the people that were chosen to play the parts.
1. they look and have none of the essence of the characters from the book.
2. they look older, when they are suppose to be younger.
3. the most important thing is that they could've saved all of the above if they had only chosen the right edward....for this crap they shouldn't be making the movie at all.
everytime i go to stephenie's page, i just wanna cry and kill the damn writers, because it looks like they never read the book, only got the cliff notes version. if they had read it they would've noticed that "cedric diggory" was never, is not and never will be Edward.
thank you... those are my two cents.
ps. same thing goes for the damn actress playing bella aka:Kristen Stewart
While I am positive there is no Edward running through treetops scene in the book (having just finished reading it yesterday), I am also positive that if he wanted to, he absolutely could do it. He's EDWARD.
I'm sure I'm going to be dissapointed with a lot of the cuts, and changes to the storyline, but I think visually the film will be stunning. Really it should only enhance our reading experience, because after seeing it we will be able to read the book again with more of a visual idea of what things like sparkling in the sun and running a hundred miles an hour actually look like.
i dont think tweaking it is going to do much good. how far will they take it? how much will they end up taking out? theres a reason the book was a bestseller. i just hope this movie doesnt end up a disappointment.
