If it’s possible to create a riot in cyberspace, “Twilight” star Kristen Stewart may have done just that a few weeks ago, mentioning a scene in the upcoming movie in which “[Robert Pattinson as Edward] throws me over his back, right before he’s going to tell me that he’s a vampire, and then he runs over the treetops.”
Some 1,600 comments later, the debate rages on, over whether the scene strays too far from the book’s depiction. Naturally, when we landed the first-ever on-set “Twilight” interview with Stewart’s co-star Rachelle Lefevre, we had to get her thoughts on whether those treetops would be tweaking “Twilight” too much.
“There’s a scene where Edward reveals to Bella that he is a vampire, and he doesn’t just reveal that he’s a vampire, he reveals all that that encompasses,” Lefevre said of the script. “It’s almost a demonstration, and I think that scene is going to be amazing.”
The actress, who plays the vampire Victoria in the flick, added that the cast has spent the past few weeks training for such stunts. “I haven’t seen all of the stunts specifically, but I did see a setup of that while I was doing my wire work,” she revealed. “I would imagine that [Stewart's statement] is exactly what they are going to do.
“They’re talking like it’s really going to happen,” Lefevre added. “We did a rehearsal at one point where [director] Catherine [Hardwicke] was like, ‘They went up in the tree, but we’re not doing that today.’ I think we are really doing that.”
Before you post your comments below, Lefevre wants you to consider that the treetop-running thing does happen at other times in the “Twilight” series, even if not in the moment when Edward reveals himself.
“I think that there is a scene where a character ends up in a treetop in the book,” she explained. “I don’t want to say who, but there are treetop scenes in the book. But there are also things that are described in the book — the stunts that we are going to be doing, as far as I understand it, are very accurate to what’s in the book.
“You want to put as much action and excitement into the movie as possible,” Lefevre said of the controversy. “So sometimes things get heightened.”
So, twi-hards: What do you think?

1. "Twi-hards"? Come on. I've never heard such a nick-name before. I've never called myself that before. I've never called anyone else that before. So...no. Don't really appreciate the stereotype created there.
2. For all the people calling others "idiots", please stop. We all love the books in different ways. Some want the movie to be an animated version of the book, some trust in the directors and screen writers, and some are somewhere in the middle. We all feel differently about the books, and it's not right to criticize other fans because you don't agree with them. Others are just more passionate about things and express that passion as to where the entire world knows their opinion. Nothing wrong with that. So back off.
That's basically it.
Thanks.
Believe it or not there is no part in Twilight where they are running on treetops.
Through the trees, yes, on top of them, no.
Those of you that say that we musy have missed it in the book....
I have read the books each 6 times how do you like them apples?
PS: Stop calling Twilight fans "Twi-hards" that is ridiculous and makes you sound like a moron, not us.
anyways, i am so excited for this movie i cannot wait! i want to see Edward in the chair in bellas room while she sleeps, and i want to see how he sparkles in the sun, as well as their first two kisses :) im so excited for this
i do have two questions for anyone who can anwser:
is the port angeles scene still there? i hope it is in atleast a little way. i want to see him save her and how mad he was. :)
and also, how would i go about getting some sides of the script?
thanks :)
I just think, like so many others, that the actors need to read the books better and know what they are talking about.
I also believe that the Port Angeles scene is VERY IMPORTANT and I am hoping that they don't cut it out.
I think that the arguing about the tree contoversy should stop.
We should all just get over it and know that you can't make a movie just like the book.
I wish we could, but we can't.
PS: I still think "twi-hard" is ridiculous and everyone should stop.
In all of my countless times of reading Twilight, I've never come across a scene where Edward runs on trees...so I don't know where she's getting that from. But I do read these books fast (because they're so good) so maybe I accidentally skipped over it.
All that aside, I'm very pleased with the cast for Twilight. Stephenie seems happy with what's being done so I don't see too much reason to worry...
The thing that gets me about the treetop thing is that it seems so ... unreal. Unlike Leferve claims, no one is in a treetop at any point during the book. I ought to know, i've read it 6 times in the last three months, and no, that is NOT an exaggeration.
The scene might be great, we don't know, but i think that one of the biggest problems people have with it, is that claiming trees is so un-Edward-like, if you know what i mean. Edward is characterised frequently as a proper, well-bred, old fashioned young man who has a liking for fast cars, and also happens to be a vampire. Climbing trees is not something readers can easily imagine Edward doing because it goes against the grain.
That's just my take on it, but there might be something there. I know that's MY problem anyway, but like i said, we can't know until it comes out, or until we see a snippet in a trailer.
It's also been brought to my attention that it says Laurent and James are mortal... I'm sorry but no. That's not going to be good! Surely the writers or who ever is writing the script will react to the sudden outburst of outrage from the Twilight fans.
Mreh. Then again probably not... I'm just gunna let this play out...
I am beyond thrilled to see this series being made in to a film that will hit theatres nationwide. It will only serve to increase the Twilight fanbase.
And spread the wonderfulness that is Edward.
how old are you? you should all know what the hell they mean....they mean running through the trees.
and for the others that keep saying they read all 3 books like 50 or 25 times...just STOP! seriously!
we all know you didnt read them that many times. i only read all 3 four times....and i have em practically memorized....
THERE IS A TREETOP SCENE....
IT IS NOT THE SCENE WHERE EDWARD REVEALS HE IS A VAMPIRE....BUT IT IS SHORTLY AFTER.
STOP! EVERYONE JUST STOP....
I REPEAT....THERE IS A TREETOP SCENE.
MORE THAN ONCE, TOO.
doesn't anyone of yous remember how excited bella was to see edward in the sun?
edward and bella go hiking in the treetops and they talk more bout edward.
you guys seriously need to stop with all this,"oh uhm how do you run on the treetops?" stop being retarded!
you know what they mean!
just be thankful for a movie on Twilight.
interesting.
I never knew such a thing to cause fans to throw such a fit. And neither have I known others to throw an even more immature fit over said fans complaining about the tree tops, making their arguement just the angry ranting of those trying to prove themselves more intelligent then just a couple of good natured fans. Harry Potter fans made just as big a fit over the slightest changes in the movies, so in turn will Twilight fans. Let them complain, it's not hurting anyone.
Treetops??
But I still am soooooooo excited!!
As someone who almost never uses all caps, I just had to say this. TWI-HARDS is so LAME!
You are all awesome. You look awesome. You are all fantastic at what you do. There are WAY more people excited and supportive than not. I can't believe some of you get hate mail!
Ignore those stupid comments. Those people need to get a life and stop whining.
But the nickname, twi-hards? Ick. Please, MTV, don't use it again.
Edward's not THAT kind of vampire.
Stephenie gave a great picture of them running THROUGH the trees...
Not on top of them.
That's too much.
Even so, I can tell you that there is a tree-top scene in the books. You might even be able to get away with calling it tree-hopping, at least in a certain sense: Jacob in Charlie's spruce tree? Leaping from the tree, to join Bella in her room?
Come on, some of you fans are Twilight Doctorates in comparison to myself; you should remember this scene.
No, no vampire tree-top hopping that I can remember, but certainly enough of a mental impression for one to off-handedly think, "Oh, there is someone in the treetops, somewhere in the books."
And if you think about it, running through the tree-tops isn't that far-fetched of an idea for Twilight vampires. Edward, for instance, can lift a van, but the guy can't weigh more than 180 lbs.- and that's probably a stretch. Considering how light he is in comparison to his muscle strength, Edward could probably leap a great deal higher than just into the tree-tops.
Anyway.
Excited for the movie, excited for the fourth book, and thinking both screen and page will excel in their own mediums.
And yeah, tree-running never happened. Sorry, people, it's just a fact. I don't care, though. I'm sure it won't affect the plot. How can you mess up something so perfect?
In other news: I
but i will watch it. haha.
oh, and if there is a running on top of trees thing, i'll probably be a little disappointed. but if look freakishly awesome and not ttly fake like back in the '70's with Superman flying, it'll make it better.
ok, i think i'm done.
;)
Stephenie said she read the script. SHE liked it. said it was pretty close to the book. (from what i recall anyways) if it was going to be HORRIBLE and NOT close to the book at ALL, i doubt she would've sold the rights to the script. and the ppl. she DID write the book. if she says they look like the characters, they most likely do. she wrote the book. it might not look like it to you (all our minds are different, if not, that'd be one scary world) but, honestly, if the writer's happy (stephenie) then i'm not horribally terrified. that is all.
:)(wow. that was longer than i thought. sorry)
Also, in addition to my comment about adapted screenplays and direction (page 4), I would like to add that no matter what anybody thinks about the way the actors look in all the pictures, the simple appearance will not look like them in real life; it all depends on the makeup and costuming, which completely change the way actors look onscreen. I just think it is interesting very very few people have even touched on the subject of acting ability, which in most books is the most important consideration for a part. Personally, I think that the best time to judge all of this stuff would be after the movie has come out, so that it's not just a ton of air.
lol I'm not computer savvy at all so if someone could please help me out :)
I'd greatly appreciate it!
And as for this whole controversy..
I completely understand both parties.
I'm not going to lie I freaked when I first read the treetops thing && again when she said “I think that there is a scene where a character ends up in a treetop in the book,”...
but I got over it.
I'm totally stoked about the movie, as we all are, but I really want to know.. Have the actors and actresses really read the book??
I'm not trying to accuse them of not doing so but if they haven't they definitely should.
lol
ANYHOO.. Help anyone? :)
myspace= myspace.com/sheenieweeniebee
Go ahead and laugh lol
how about wait and see the movie
before you decide which ideas sucked and whether the movie is any good? even simon waits to hear something before saying what he thought of it - exactly what he thought of it, at that.
You kids say stop whining about changes, but does that stem from an honest sense of faith or from pure excitement for the flick.
What we all should remember, and also the film makers and actors, is that we fell in love with Twilight... not the film version of Twilight.
If they change too much, I guarentee they will lose.... no matter how cool it looks.
Imagine falling in love with someone just the way they are. Now change a few key parts of them. They're essentially the same, but are they the same person you loved originally?
Just think about it before you tell us who love the book that we should calm down.
However, there really are no tree-top scenes. :P
i am a little scared, though.. to see the movie and be disappointed with it. it's bound to happen. because of course they're not going to be able to go exactly by the book. ah. haha. but. i'm just going to take the movie for what it is; a movie based on a book. if it's not exactly right that will suck. but i'll get over it. and. so should everyone else.
