If it’s possible to create a riot in cyberspace, “Twilight” star Kristen Stewart may have done just that a few weeks ago, mentioning a scene in the upcoming movie in which “[Robert Pattinson as Edward] throws me over his back, right before he’s going to tell me that he’s a vampire, and then he runs over the treetops.”
Some 1,600 comments later, the debate rages on, over whether the scene strays too far from the book’s depiction. Naturally, when we landed the first-ever on-set “Twilight” interview with Stewart’s co-star Rachelle Lefevre, we had to get her thoughts on whether those treetops would be tweaking “Twilight” too much.
“There’s a scene where Edward reveals to Bella that he is a vampire, and he doesn’t just reveal that he’s a vampire, he reveals all that that encompasses,” Lefevre said of the script. “It’s almost a demonstration, and I think that scene is going to be amazing.”
The actress, who plays the vampire Victoria in the flick, added that the cast has spent the past few weeks training for such stunts. “I haven’t seen all of the stunts specifically, but I did see a setup of that while I was doing my wire work,” she revealed. “I would imagine that [Stewart's statement] is exactly what they are going to do.
“They’re talking like it’s really going to happen,” Lefevre added. “We did a rehearsal at one point where [director] Catherine [Hardwicke] was like, ‘They went up in the tree, but we’re not doing that today.’ I think we are really doing that.”
Before you post your comments below, Lefevre wants you to consider that the treetop-running thing does happen at other times in the “Twilight” series, even if not in the moment when Edward reveals himself.
“I think that there is a scene where a character ends up in a treetop in the book,” she explained. “I don’t want to say who, but there are treetop scenes in the book. But there are also things that are described in the book — the stunts that we are going to be doing, as far as I understand it, are very accurate to what’s in the book.
“You want to put as much action and excitement into the movie as possible,” Lefevre said of the controversy. “So sometimes things get heightened.”
So, twi-hards: What do you think?

i kno ppl just sound whiny, but honestly, they are ruining an art here. The twilight series has 2 b one of the best in the whole world, and i think that tweaking it is a little crazy. THERE ARE NO TREE-TOP SCENES.
im not upset just because of that though, its more of the fact that i love these books so much that ever since i read twilight i have LITERALLY made ppl become absolutely OBSESSED. you dont even know what im talking about. to ruin this, omg, its freakin blasphemy.
i know i sound crazy but honestly, every single one of my friends is pissed. im excited for the movie, but i honestly think id be happier if they just kept it at books....
I'm not against Rachelle, I think she's perfect for the role (she'll be prettier than Rosalie hahah so I'm ok with that cause I don't like Rosalie.) But seriously, did she read the book? Because she seems that she wanted the role just because of the "vampire" thing.
But to me it sounds like they're going to completley change how bella find out about vampires (maybe even getting rid of Jacob) and that will not fly. Besides, if they're going to do the rest of the books, Jacob is more than a little important.
PS vampires have to obey the laws of gravity too!
hopefully it's just not too corny!
And as for the casting, everyone seems great!
I can't wait for the movie! :D
I have never been called a twi-hard and personally I rather dislike the name. We have always been referred to as Twilighters, Lexiconers, or Stephenites. I just feel that if you are going to report on a certain group of fans you should at least get their name right.
Also, I think the main reason their is so much controversy over this treetop thing is because it seems a bit excessive. Never in the series are vampires flying around or running on top of trees, sure it is probably possible for Stephenie's vampires to accomplish such a feat but still it is not in the book and why make things more complicated?
I feel that movies based off of anything with a rather large fanbase would do well to listen to the community they are going to be selling to. Sure, I understand that their still needs to be a commercial aspect, but really... if the book has sold the way it has why would a movie do any worse. Just by changing its medium it is bound to do better as more people in this day and age are willing to sit and watch a movie than read (sad but true).
My main point I guess is. As a whole listen to the fans. Talk to fans directly for their viewpoint and why. And please just get your information straight if you are going to report on a group of people.
The reason why I'm really kind of high-hoping for this movie is because, honestly, I was really disappointed with the Blood and Chocolate movie interpretation of the book, and Eragon. I don't want Twilight to become another disappointment. It may be acceptable for them to change some parts, but plleeeeeeaaaseee leave plot-cruicial points alone!!!
Also... no offense... but with the many other Twilight fans I agree. Get your facts straight.

its the fact that people are trying to convince us that we are wrong. everyone here obviously feels very strongly about the books, and yea, edward was watching bella from a tree once. but he was not running on tree tops and the exagerration is probably making people nervous that the movie is going to stray to far from the book. also, if this scene is where edward tells bella he is a vampire, then the port angeles scene must have been cut, and to me and many many other die hard fans, that is an extremely significant and moving part of the series, i just feel that too many changes may portray edward as a different kind of person.
So she probably is right in the respect that the trees are involved in film, but the fact that it doesn't happen in Twilight but in Eclipse, doesn't make any difference, it is something that Vamps are able to do so lets just enjoy the final result.
But I swear; one more complaint and I am gonna go shoot a tree or something. Environmentalists, beware!
I loooove Edward Diggory... I hope Jake's in here, too. I would die if not.
I think everyone needs to give these actors a break. Especially Robert Pattinson..I mean come on...Have you SEEN him act??? That guys got it down! : ) I have no doubts on the out come of his performance
I'm not really concerned about it really, if it makes Twilight look great that I'm happy! I just don't want it looking all corny. I'm happy with the actors to a point and I can't wait for December to come around! So let's get off of the bad foot and do the dance!
Who came up with the whole twi-hard thing? I have never heard that before, ever.
I think we should all be glad that the cast is so dedicated to getting their roles as close to the real characters as possible and stop worrying about what happens in the movie. After all, it can't be exactly the same. Stephenie Meyer herself is really happy about the movie so I'm pretty much convinvced it's going to be good.
hmm..i hope this will be good.
no flying cullens hopefully!
i have no problem with the treetop thing...itll only add to the visual of the movie so im not worried.
but nowwherree does anyone run on treetops.
ive read the books more times then i can count.
they run through TREES.
not ontop of them though, edwards not a monkey.
As long as the scene looks good, I'm totally cool with it. I think it'll be awesome.
Second, i was a bit twekeed about the tree top thing but now i find it excitng. It would so great if they could keep the fact that Bella already knew that Edward was not human before he admits to it, that would be nice. Also i really hope they can incorapte the Port Angles thing with it, like he shows her after he resuces her or after they eat.
So if the tree top thing is kept i'm for it, just as long as the main plot is kept.
I think the fact that they are having this kind of conversation with the fans is pretty damn great. If you think of what happened with Blood and Chocolate, where they twisted it and lost sight of what the book was about, I think we can be relieved that Twilight is turning out this way.
I know there are scenes in the book that some people are REALLY attached to and want to SEE played out in the movie (myself included), but I think we need to focus on the fact that the most important part is how the characters are portrayed. The details are important, but not as much. If they flub a detail it won't BREAK the movie, but if the characters aren't authentic, it will be a major disappointment. I think when we see our favorite characters being played as we know them and love them, we will be more forgiving. I just want those emotions to come across!
I'm not just crazy about Bella and Edward, I want Alice, Jacob, and Emmett to be great! And James and Victoria to be so EVIL and FERAL. Rachel, give it your all, Victoria has lost almost all of her humanity.
