If it’s possible to create a riot in cyberspace, “Twilight” star Kristen Stewart may have done just that a few weeks ago, mentioning a scene in the upcoming movie in which “[Robert Pattinson as Edward] throws me over his back, right before he’s going to tell me that he’s a vampire, and then he runs over the treetops.”
Some 1,600 comments later, the debate rages on, over whether the scene strays too far from the book’s depiction. Naturally, when we landed the first-ever on-set “Twilight” interview with Stewart’s co-star Rachelle Lefevre, we had to get her thoughts on whether those treetops would be tweaking “Twilight” too much.
“There’s a scene where Edward reveals to Bella that he is a vampire, and he doesn’t just reveal that he’s a vampire, he reveals all that that encompasses,” Lefevre said of the script. “It’s almost a demonstration, and I think that scene is going to be amazing.”
The actress, who plays the vampire Victoria in the flick, added that the cast has spent the past few weeks training for such stunts. “I haven’t seen all of the stunts specifically, but I did see a setup of that while I was doing my wire work,” she revealed. “I would imagine that [Stewart's statement] is exactly what they are going to do.
“They’re talking like it’s really going to happen,” Lefevre added. “We did a rehearsal at one point where [director] Catherine [Hardwicke] was like, ‘They went up in the tree, but we’re not doing that today.’ I think we are really doing that.”
Before you post your comments below, Lefevre wants you to consider that the treetop-running thing does happen at other times in the “Twilight” series, even if not in the moment when Edward reveals himself.
“I think that there is a scene where a character ends up in a treetop in the book,” she explained. “I don’t want to say who, but there are treetop scenes in the book. But there are also things that are described in the book — the stunts that we are going to be doing, as far as I understand it, are very accurate to what’s in the book.
“You want to put as much action and excitement into the movie as possible,” Lefevre said of the controversy. “So sometimes things get heightened.”
So, twi-hards: What do you think?

Now onto what some may consider 'whining'. My concern comes from them perhaps going too over the top. I also don't recall a single tree top moment in the book. Running through trees, yes, several times. Running on TOP of them? No recollection. If someone can remember, then please share specifics. Who knows, the scene could turn out really cool but I'm afraid of them going too crazy and twisting the story we love into some action movie we don't. In the end we'll just have to see but I'll admit my first reaction was a *wince* and "Oh no."
But, Stephenie Meyer seems thrilled at this point so I'll take my cues from her. I admit to having reservations on the casting of Edward but the promo pics are helping to alleviate that a bit. In the end the real test will come when the fans see the final product in theaters. Despite my concerns I'm still very excited for it. And will no scurry off to read the books. Again. You don't even want to know what number that particular "again" is. ;)
in what book is there treetop-running?
did i miss while reading each book 10 times?

People are being petty and ridiculous about this though. Why is everyone on here telling each other to shut up? It's ignorant. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion so stop telling people they can't have theirs. Of course people are going to be upset if their favorite scene isn't in the movie, it's a natural reaction, and if you don't like them doing that then obviously message boards are not the place for you to be. *ahem* you know who i'm talking about.
Let people gripe and moan if they want to, it's a free country and I'm sure once they see the movie they will either a) change their minds and act like they never disliked the decisions or b) never see it again. But once again, it's their choice.
I for one know that If they did cast a non-native american for the part of Jacob I would be hurt and somewhat offended. Maybe thats because I'm indian myself or maybe it's just because I can't see a non-authentic boy playing the character that is so important to the books.
I have read all three books about a million times and there are NO treetop scenes..AT ALL.
Running THROUGH tress, yes. But not on top of them.
He is not effing Batman!
On the other hand, I think Rachelle will make a great Victoria!
Victoria is one of my favorite characters!
:)
and for everyone complaining that there are no treetop scenes....actually
yes there are
shorlty after edward tells bella he is a vampire in port angelos i believe...they decide to go to seattle (bcuz Edward said he'll drive Bella there since she didnt want to go to the dance)....and then there were change of plans...and they decided to go to edward's favorite place [[the treetops]]
and there he shows her how he looks like in the sun and tells her how he is very addicted to the scent of her blood.
so therefore....there is a treetop scene.
I JUST WANT THE MOVIE TO COME OUT!!!!!!
I mean yeah, he does run THROUGH trees, NOT over!, and Edward doesn't specifically tell her he's a vampire, Bella figures it out and mentions it, to which he doesn't deny. (in the car)
I have no probs with the Actress, i can see her as Victoria, but i hope they don't ruin the movie!.
I think they are making Twilight into a typical 'special effects' movie!, shame!. As i prefer the whole acting...that's what makes movies classic!.

But heck, it seems like everyone working on the movie has read the books. They KNOW what will work well and what won't.
the port angeles scene is one of my most favorite parts and one of the most important parts in the book.i also hope that jacob tells bella about the cold ones cause without that scene there is no jacob and with no jacob there is no New Moon
When the heck is anyone in a tree top??????????????!!!!!!!!!
Really where??????
Oh and about that other article with her that vampires have No teeth Ummmm!!!!!!!!! THEY HAVE TEETH!!!
I am weeping
for the Twilight script!
I am excited for the film though!
Not even Batman runs on tree-tops pff.
I've read the books SEVERAL times and NO, nobody runs on tree tops. They may have climbed one once but never ran on them. Jacob climbed Bella's to get into her room once in New Moon, and the war between newborns and the cullens and quileute werewolves well.. we didn't read it through Bella's words but maybe, JUST MAYBE, they ran on tree-tops. But this is Twilight!!! Maybe Midgnight Sun? But it's not published already. ANYWAY, I'm sick of complaining about everything related to Twilight movie stuff. Argh, I'll stop now. I'm ok with the cast and everything but I'm concerned about people who haven't read the books. If this movie ends up as some Extra Bonus part of Moonlight or Superman DVD now on sale, people wouldn't want to read the books :/ and that'd be heartbreaking.
I'll go to sleep now to dream of Edward running on tree tops like a squirrel. Hey Edward pst pst... here's a nut hey heey pst pst.... LOLZ Awwwn Edwardd T___T!!1
and i think it would be a horrible loss if they cut out the Port Angeles scene. its one of my favorites and very pivotal.
& the whole edward TELLING bella hes a vamp . . . i think its so much more enjoyable when bella comes up with it herself after jacobs hints, but i have full faith in the cast and crew!! BEST WISHES!!
And since when have we been called "twi-hards"? Did MTV just invent that and say we've been calling ourselves that? Personally, I ADORE Twilight but i refuse to be called a "twi-hard".
What is that anyway? A mixture of twilight and die-hard? *coughstupidcough*
on the cast...i think everyone will do a good job, but jasper really needs to fix his hair.no offense.and i thought emmett had longer hair.
oh well, I know they'll do a good job!
Bella talks to Jacob at First Beach, when he tells her the legend of "cold ones" or "blood-drinkers". Bella guesses from there.
I really don't care to heighten stuff for the movie. The books were amazinngg (obviously they're best-sellers!)
So why would you heighten it?
I say don't fix what's not broke.
i'm obssesed
i really really hope that they dont cut out the scene with Edward and bella driving back from port angeles!
:sighs:
and PLEASE do not skip over the Port Angeles scene!its one of the best scenes in the book!
everyone reading this i just hope you read the twilight book by Stephenie Meyers before you watch the movie so you can get the whole "twilight effect"
:/
Sorry.
The cast, yeah, I pretty much like; all the members seem really committed to producing the best movie possible.
But this tree thing...
What the heck?
I'm just frightened that the movie will be out of sequence (like A Series of Unforunate Events).
I realize that this is a movie and that certain parts must be dramatized; however, I hope that it doesn't go TOO astray, if you get what I mean.
And if Jacob doesn't tell Bella what Edward is, then how will that bond form and how do they intend to create New Moon?
It just worries me.
:/
I'm very excited for the movie...BUT I really wish that actress would actually read the books. It's very obvious that she has not... and if she's going to be taking on something as big as this where there are so many passionate fans, she needs to know the stories inside and out.... Yes the movie will have different scenes...and that's okay with me. But the actors shouldn't make statements about them being accurate to the book if they've never read it!
But then again, Catherine Hardwicke also should have read the book. If she did and she is still allowing the treetop stunt, then that is ridiculous.
Leave Robert (Edward) alone.
He's perfect for the part, and, quite honestly, I don't see why everyone keeps saying "he's not attractive enough".
In reality, only Stephenie knows EXACTLY what Edward looks like.
And she likes Robert playing Edward, so I trust HER opinion on HER created character.
So stop dissing Robert.
Thank you.
:]
