If it’s possible to create a riot in cyberspace, “Twilight” star Kristen Stewart may have done just that a few weeks ago, mentioning a scene in the upcoming movie in which “[Robert Pattinson as Edward] throws me over his back, right before he’s going to tell me that he’s a vampire, and then he runs over the treetops.”
Some 1,600 comments later, the debate rages on, over whether the scene strays too far from the book’s depiction. Naturally, when we landed the first-ever on-set “Twilight” interview with Stewart’s co-star Rachelle Lefevre, we had to get her thoughts on whether those treetops would be tweaking “Twilight” too much.
“There’s a scene where Edward reveals to Bella that he is a vampire, and he doesn’t just reveal that he’s a vampire, he reveals all that that encompasses,” Lefevre said of the script. “It’s almost a demonstration, and I think that scene is going to be amazing.”
The actress, who plays the vampire Victoria in the flick, added that the cast has spent the past few weeks training for such stunts. “I haven’t seen all of the stunts specifically, but I did see a setup of that while I was doing my wire work,” she revealed. “I would imagine that [Stewart's statement] is exactly what they are going to do.
“They’re talking like it’s really going to happen,” Lefevre added. “We did a rehearsal at one point where [director] Catherine [Hardwicke] was like, ‘They went up in the tree, but we’re not doing that today.’ I think we are really doing that.”
Before you post your comments below, Lefevre wants you to consider that the treetop-running thing does happen at other times in the “Twilight” series, even if not in the moment when Edward reveals himself.
“I think that there is a scene where a character ends up in a treetop in the book,” she explained. “I don’t want to say who, but there are treetop scenes in the book. But there are also things that are described in the book — the stunts that we are going to be doing, as far as I understand it, are very accurate to what’s in the book.
“You want to put as much action and excitement into the movie as possible,” Lefevre said of the controversy. “So sometimes things get heightened.”
So, twi-hards: What do you think?

can someone fill me in? (page numbers, possibly?)
I can't say I agree with all of the casting (Rachelle as Victoria is almost perfect, though), but I'm willing to give the movie a chance. There's a lot that movie make-up/magic can do, and great acting can help a ton. I just don't want them to rush through it! I could wait for a few years for a movie if I knew it was going to be awesome. I don't want it to be like Eragon (which in my opinion cut way too much, was way too short, and pretty much stunk).
Okay, just to get things out of the way. For those who are upset about the treehopping, it's most likely because they're cutting out one of the most important scenes of the story and doing a complete 180. Do we care that theres treehopping added? Emphasizing on the ADDED, not the REPLACED. So go ahead and alter lines and scenes here and there, but the Port Angeles scene really starts the story, especially between Edward and Bella.
All we're trying to say is, if we were to summarize the story, which means, talking about the most important points of the story which builds up to create something as unreal as twilight, the Port Angeles scene would most likely be mentioned. Hence, the problem isn't the treehopping, its the fact that that scene may be taken out. The reason why people are upset is because it's not just a scene where they're eating in the dining room or Bella is coooking for her dad orchanging her clothes, or something somewhat irrelevant to the story, which its difficult to say what is and isnt because evrything thats done is connected to the plot, it's because that one scene is like critical, important, it's where Edward and Bella's relationship begin blooming.
So there.
P.S.Was she talking about Jacob going to Bella's room?
P.S.Love the cast choose.
P.S.
Im not this crazy noramlly. Oh ya just wanted to say that Ive learned to ignore all the GASPAR ULLILE fans so this is for the Gas lovers: Rob is Edward.Gas is not.Rob is hot and your Gas looks like he got hit with the ugly stick when he was born.=)
The first scene in twilight where Bella is on edwards back and they're "flying" through the trees it doesn't say one thing about flying through tree 'tops' it just depicts that he was running from their meadow with her on his back extremely fast paced so much so that it seemed they were flying not that they actually were flying, it was meant to be him showing her how he gets around.
They're straying too far from the book.
blegh.
=( I had a much different picture in my mind. But i think they casted fantastically. And i'm adoring everything they've been doing so far.
And i love that it may be a series and not just one movie i've been obsessing, my boyfriend would tell you i'm hopelessly addicted i've read twilight i can proudly say a total of 7 times now
and i've read New Moon a total of 4 times now, and As for Eclipse i only got the pleasure of reading that once but on the Stephenie Meyer page i loved reading from Edwards point of view and i hope she makes a book for that and i'm beyond excited for breaking dawn.
I love everything about the serious and i am as some would call it hopelessly obsessed and addicted.
So just for clarification. It's only those scenes that are bothering me because there's nothing about treetops in the book.
But, aside from that, I'm very much looking forward to the movie. All of the cast looks amazing, I must say [oh, and Robert Pattinson? Gotta love him.] And by now I've somewhat gotten used to book-to-movie adaptations, as I've had to put up with the Harry Potter films...haha
I can't wait until this winter!
i cant wait for the movie to come out!! i hope that the movie stays close to the book! i would sooo love to see the tree top scene's and see how those come out!! ^__^
on the whole cast please.Oh ya MTV peoples when are you guys gonna release an interview with the following:
Robert Pattinson
Ashley Greene
Jakson Rathbone
Elizabeth Reaser
Kellan Lutz
and Peter Facinelli?
They're ruining it.
) but who cares?! the movie is going to be amazing is there is NO WAY the movie could be exactly as the book was written, it just isn't plausible.
So he sits in trees. Many humans do that.
How does that translate to jumping from tree to tree? It doesn't seem like a very Edward-esque thing to do. I mean, Edward is old-fashioned, right? And during the entire three books, he never purposely shows off his heightened senses in a way like that.
Yes, he broke a thick branch. Yes, he ran around the meadow in a half-second. Yes, he ran really fast to her truck. But he never openly showed them off like that scene suggests. In the book, he did the first two to show Bella just how dangerous he was. And like he said, when he ran her to her truck, he was showing her how he traveled.
I just really don't think that that scene accurately represents Edward's character.
Maybe it's just me, but it's what I think.
plus, we might have pictured it, but these immiortal vampires. how accurate can our dipicitons of them get...its gonna be different than what we expect no matter what.
I'm behind the cast and crew a thousand percent, and I'm thrilled they decided to honor Stephenie Meyer and her story on the silver screen. So bring on the treetops; I can't wait.
How the hey can she be telling us to cool it and let crap like this slide (and yes, it is absoulte crap. The clearing scene was my favorite scene in Twilight. Even if it wasn't yours, you all have to admit it was fantastic. I hope you all realize this will be taking its place. "Demonstration"? Remember when Edward showed her his abilities in the clearing?) when she can't even correctly cite the book. Why on earth would they want to mess with a book that can translate perfectly into any director/writer/actor/VIEWER's dream? They need to realize that this book has a momentous fan base. No matter what, I will go see this in theaters, but if they ~*?@~ it all up, they ahd better not expect me to buy it on DVD, get any of the merch, or watch the next one. They need to get some respect for their audience. We're the frekaing consumers!! Shouldn't we be getting what we want?
The movie sounds like it will be great, I cannot wait for the movie and the next book! Great job (if any cast member is reading this)
Love it!
Well there you go thats my two sence, i hope i havent offended any of the actors or the director by saying this because i am very proud of you all for taking on such a big project :)
DO. NOT. SKIP. THE. PORT. ANGELES. SCENE.
PLEASE!!!!!!!!! don't #?*?# up the movie! there are no treetop scenes! whfjwehg!! ack. please don't make disgusting stupid hollywood vampires. AHHHHHHH.
First of all, who said we were called Twi-Hards? What kind of a name is that anyway? It makes us all sound like emo-screamos. Anyhoo, if there actually were treetop scenes in the book, why didn't Stephenie describe them at all? That DOES NOT make any sense. All I can ask of the producers, directors, and the screenwriters most importantly, PLEASE PLEASE don't change the movie TOO much from the book. If you want to change a scene from the book, because it would take too long to film or whatever, JUST DO IT. Because its THE BOOK that we love, and if you guys change it, so will our feelings. (for Twilight)
So please just keep that in mind, Catherine Hardwicke, and whoever the screenwriters are!
