He may not have been the original John Connor, but up until recently Nick Stahl was the most recent version of mankind’s only hope. Now, Christian Bale is the newest “Terminator” star, Thomas Dekker is the kid brooding all over “The Sarah Connor Chronicles,” and the “T3” actor has a message for the fans wondering why he…ahem…won’t be back.
“I don’t care really, to be honest,” admitted the 28-year-old actor, at Sundance recently to promote “Sleepwalking” and “Quid Pro Quo,” two upcoming indies with decidedly smaller budgets than “Rise of the Machines.” “I don’t have much interest.”
In regards to the soon-to-shoot “Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins,” Stahl said he had been told some time ago that his considerable talents would not be required for the fourth movie, although he is scratching his head over rumors that Bale will be 30-years-old in the flick.
“They said it would be a 50-year-old man, but I guess they reduced the age a little bit,” Stahl said of how the franchise producers had explained the plot to him. “That’s what they told me very early on [in development of the ‘Salvation’ script]. That it was gonna take place further in the future, and I probably wouldn’t be on.”
Discussing the man who will step into Stahl’s role, much as he once did for the legendary Eddie Furlong, the actor said: “I like [Bale] a lot…he’s a little older, and they wanted someone a little older, and also he’s got a name. He’s a big guy now. So, God bless.”
“I love the franchise, and I love the movies,” he continued, “so I’ll probably be seeing the fourth one.”
Stahl feels quite differently, however, when it comes to the newly-launched TV show on Fox. “That I won’t be seeing,” he said of “Chronicles,” which focuses on the years leading up to Stahl’s film. “I don’t watch much TV; I’m not a big TV guy.”
How do you feel about Stahl’s “I don’t care” stance? Who has been the best John Connor so far? Do you think Bale will be the best yet? Let us know.

I would have loved to have Edward Furlong all along the way, at least in all the movies… In the TV Series, I guess it’s o.k. to have another one, as well as another Sarah

Honestly, who cares about Nick Stahl. Everything Terminator has sucked beyond reason since T2, ESPECIALLY Stahl and Heroes’ homo-licious Thomas Dekker.
Although, I am beginning to see the light for this new trilogy…

Ragtime Willy, you shouldn’t call other people “homos” especially when your nickname is not far off with that word.
Anyway, i think the Terminator movies were great especially the first two. I really liked Nick Stahl as John Connor and was quite mad with not having him playing the role in the next movie. I didn’t even like the idea for another one. Not until Christian Bale was cast as John Connor. Christian Bale is one of the greatest actors of our day and playing the role will bring some light into this project.
So can’t wait!
P.S. Arnie, get your ass back into playing what made you into a star. You are THE TERMINATOR.

Um, The Sarah Connor Chronicles does NOT lead up or focus on the years leading up to Stahl’s film in Terminator 3. They basically “erased” the crap third movie with the TV show. Sarah doesn’t ridiculously die of cancer, because they jumped past that point when they traveled to the future in the TV series. She’s (Sarah) is John’s BEST fighter in the future, so all the events in the third movie are null and void, thank goodness. ie: she doesn’t die of cancer and still lives with him in the future after Judgement Day.

Actually she is gonna die of cancer in the TV series too. I think they try to fill the time between T2 and T3 (although they are now in 2008. I think this is 1-something we should ignore to enjoy the series or 2-At the end they will return to past with Sarah Connor dead to lead the story to T3)
And I think that all of them, Furlong, Stahl and Dekker are very good at the roles (and so will be Bale) and T3 is a very funny movie

Nick Stahl is the best thing tat happened to the T series- a bad ass actor with an amazing skill set ready to take off. Bale is great too but you lose a hell of alot of believability and interest when you change actors playing the same age character. Huge mistake.
