Fleur Delacour Won’t Appear in ‘Half-Blood Prince’ Says ‘Harry Potter’ Actress

Clémence PoésyFleur Delacour doesn’t know her own fate — at least, Clémence Poésy, the actress who played her in “Goblet of Fire,” hasn’t read beyond that book yet. Poesy told MTV News that she’s not back in what she calls “Harry Potter world” just yet and won’t be appearing in “Half-Blood Prince” — which probably means that the subplot of her character’s engagement to Bill Weasley has been cut out or is only a mention, no actual scenes.

Still, there’s hope for Phlegm — we mean, Fleur — in “Hallows,” since the couple’s wedding is a major action sequence when it’s disrupted by Death Eaters, and the newlywed’s home at Shell Cottage becomes a place of refuge — but don’t tell her that.

“Somebody already told me the end of ‘Order of the Phoenix,’ and I was like, ‘You’re ruining everything!’” Poésy laughed, since she plans to read the remaining books on her next vacation “back to back.” Still, she can’t resist asking for one spoiler: “Has Harry done some bad things?”

Maybe that’s the influence of her latest film “In Bruges” speaking. Reunited with several of her Potter castmates, including Brendan Gleeson, Mad-Eye Moody in Potter, now as a hitman named Ken, and Ralph Fiennes, who as Voldemort is always trying to kill Harry, now playing a hitman boss named …Harry. “Isn’t that funny?” exclaimed Poésy. “We didn’t tease [Ralph] about it, but maybe we will now. I had met Brendan before, and he was really sweet. He liked scaring kids with his costume, showing it to all the extras, who were like, ‘How do you do that with your eye?’”

Not that Poésy isn’t above scaring the kids as well. “It would be nice of you not to write that,” she teased. “The kids think I have powers, so I can say, ‘Be careful, otherwise I can turn you into a frog! I’ve learned.’ So don’t tell anyone I don’t have witchcraft powers.”

In “In Bruges,” Poésy has powers of a different sort - she’s able to magnetically attract Colin Farrell, who plays yet another hitman, when he crashes a film set she’s on. Her character Chloe’s not an actress though. “She tells him she sells drugs to film crews, and he doesn’t believe her,” Poesy said. “He says, ‘I murder people for money,’ she says, ‘I sell drugs,’ and nobody believes the other. I think she just likes him. He seems innocent, childish, talking about midgets, and his eyes, they’re so big and completely innocent for a hitman who’s just committed a huge murder.”

And compared to her character’s ex-boyfriend, with whom Chloe scams tourists, Farrell’s Ray seems “kind of nice.” Can she say the same thing for Colin? “I know he kills people for money, but he never tells anyone,” she joked. “It would be very presumptious of me to tell you what else Colin is like.”

Despite their characters crimes, they remain pretty likeable, well, save for Fiennes’ Harry. “They’re doing bad things with a good heart,” Poésy said.

“It’s never black or white. It’s all greys. If we were all perfect, it wouldn’t be as beautiful. Even in simple fairy tales, you’ve got some awful things.”

It’s a running joke in “In Bruges” that Harry set Ken and Ray there because the town is like a “f–king fairy tale.” But Poésy thinks perhaps her character was the only one who got a happy ending. And as for her Potter world counterpart, she’s hoping for a happy ending there as well. “They get married, have lots of kids, never have a fight, and never divorce,” she guesses. We don’t want to spoil it for her, but let’s just say Fleur makes it to the epilogue. “It’d be a pleasure,” Poésy said, “to go back and pop in before it all finishes.”

    i heart harry

  5. Julia Says:

I just spoiling everything from the begining i mean i would love to see Ron (rupert) blush when she has to smile at him or ginny, fred, and george getting annoyed.

  6. Lily Says:

what the hell!? how can they cut her!!??

  7. Meeks Says:

What I can’t believe she’s not doing the movie. Why can’t they just replace her with someone else?!?

  8. Darcy Says:

I totally forgot she was even in HBP…Oh well! There goes my rep as the biggest fan in SK…

  9. Jessica Says:

This sucks, i was realy looking forward to seeing the part at the weaslys’ before school started, with bill and fluer and everyone else. :(

  10. Chris Says:

How can they not put her in the movie… Why do they keep pushing the story line further and further from the books… I hate them right now! What, are they just going to pop Ron’s brothers and the marriage randomly in the last movie? This is some of the most retarded news I’ve heard yet about HBP

  11. libby Says:

Total bs! I wanted to see Bill, Fleur and everything… bloody hell! So annoying

  12. Taylah Says:

Bill Nor Charlie will be in the films. How the hell will they set up the Fleur/Bill marriage scene in the DH Movie? Pft.

  13. Mjj Says:

Well, when I think of it, it is sad that the producers are hesistant to make the movies near three hours, but they had to cut something out of this movie, right? I mean, if this Bill/Fleur thing was important for the movie plot, then JKR would have not let the script writer to cut the scenes out.

It is a known fact that the film producers are bad at doing the fan service thing, then why expect different outcome on this film, when we have (most likely) the DH split into two movies. I really hope the WB does not find anyone talented enough to cram the book into one movie without hurting the plot.

  14. Jacki Says:

as if she didn’t read the books!!

  15. Simon Says:

    Obviously that Terrible!!

It would let the Story a bit down without the wedding, cos it is going to be extraordinary if they include the wedding part.

Therefore, Hope they’ll adapt their mind, let the wedding part NOT to be cut.

  16. alice samuels Says:

If she’s really not in that movie I’m going to be very upset. Fleur has a very large role in both prince and hallows, and to cut her out, even if it is just the one, will be a horrible decision on the director’s part. One of the best scenes of the whole book is the end scene after Bill is bitten and the comments that she makes to Molly about it. I refuse to watch a movie directed be someone who has little enough knowledge of the series to cut an important character out of the movie where she really comes into play with the story.

    And to Jessie,
If Bill is cut out of this movie, I guarentee you this director will have a LOT of angry harry potter fans on his hands, which I’m sure he doesn’t want, so I doubt he’d be stupid enough to go that far.

  18. lexy Says:

Cutting her out in the 6th one will totally ruin the 7th.

    That just messes up everything.

  19. Katie Says:

I have no idea how they plan to pull togther the Bill?Fleur wedding in the 7th film. So far neither Bill or Charlie have been in the Potter films…so they will have quite a bit of back-story to cover to fill in those “Potter fans” who have not read the books.

  20. valsul Says:

i agree with andi. if they take out fleurs part that completely ruins the next book. the shell cotage is a huge pqart of the book. that were they they plan everyhting. and if she isnt in it then there is no reason to have bill in there. even the goblin tierrea is significant in this part. how else would they explain how she got it. there will be…wait…EVERY SINGLE HP FAN WILL BE FREAKING UPSET.

  21. hpmonkekyaround92 Says:

OMG… WTF?? how are the trio going to leave the burrow otherwise

  22. Abner Says:

Am I just crazy or did the director from # 5 already cut out butt loads of the key parts of that book leaving a movie that had no cohesiveness at all…I am very disponted in this director being on this next film …I may not even go see it …I have read every book so many time I cannot not even count and now I feel I am being let down…please fire that guy now!

  23. Michael Says:

Wot? No Fleur in HBP? Anyway, like everyone else, there is no way I can believe that she can’t be in ‘Deathly Hallows’ because Clemence is almost the central character in the first couple of chapters, and is essential for the protected places where our friends have to drop in, literally. And before I go, I HAVE to say that I think she is one of the most beautiful actresses I have ever seen on the screen. Phew!

  24. Emma Says:

Fleur should be in there so that Bill can be in there. They play an important role in the last two books. I think that Bill should be played by James McAvoy :D –he’d be perfect.

  25. Bre Says:

This is so stupid i hate the director of this harry potter movie if there is no fleur then the movie is not going to end well.

  26. cody Says:

    omg well that sucks

  27. Regan Says:

I am kind of getting tired of key parts of the books being cut out!!! I liked the whole part with Fleur and Bill and howannoyed the weasley’s were with the whole situation! Also, her and Bill are pretty key near the end of the book…so how are they gonna explain that?!?!? Just annoying!

  28. Babs Says:

Dude, how could she not have read the books yet??

  29. Lou Says:

I was reading the comments and i have to agree with lots of them. It is important to have fleur in the 6th film. Otherwise we will be introduced to Bill in the 6th film WITHOUT FLEUR and the last time we saw fleur was in the 4th film. So when HP fans who havent read the books go to see the 7th film they will be thrown into Bills and fleurs wedding and they will be like HUH!!!! Have i missed something???!!!!If they don’t make the 7th film in 2 films they will prob cut out a storyline relevent to the books.

P.s i agree with Emma, James McAvoy should play Bill

  30. Julia Giovanna Says:

OMG! If they cut Fleur and Bill´s engagement, how they can mention the tormented and hot relationship beetween Lupin and Tonks, I will die, to watch it, i´ve been waiting for see it in the movie:(

  31. pikachu Says:

i cant wait to see this movie i have visited every harry potter site all days and now i found this news, this sucks i just hope they dont cut any harry y ginny scene

  32. Stephanie Banks Says:

I wish they would stop cutting stuff that we would love to see!

  33. Stephanie Banks Says:

They need to stop cutting stuff we really want to see and that takes away from the authenticity of the plot.

  34. hairyboy Says:

    #*! fleur don’t take such a opinion… u would b really good in film

  35. Paulina Says:

I think this sucks. I love Bill, he’s awesome!!
    How can they do this!?!?
Just mentioning it in the movie isn’t enough!!
    I wanna SEE it =D
makes me sad to think they’re ruining the adaptions of the best books there is to read =’(

  36. chantal Says:

the stupid harry potter people are soo stupid! i cant believe they cut her… they have to cut that whole seen at the begining now. and the marriage part and mrs weasly being annoyed and everything else 2 do with her!
    rubbish! =(

wudnt mind seeing this film shes in tho. looks good.

  37. Tina Says:

Oh my. This is terrible. Fleur and Bill are almost the most important characters in 6 & 7. Maybe they could cut out Dumbledore’s death scene - just talk about it - so we could see the really important scenes between Fleur and Mrs Weasley. Or maybe hand out a primer on horcrux to read before the movies; that way we can see more about the wedding cake.

  38. chelle Says:

tht aint fair fleur makes harry potter amazingly at it witts and i wanted to see the wedding cause i have been waiting along time for bill to get married.

  39. Mia Says:

If they ruin DH we should all complain to Warner Brothers! I mean what the hell! Bill and Fleur’s wedding is a really important part and now we aren’t even gonna see that or Bill getting attacked by Greyback! WTF! I hate them! They are completely butchering everything we loved about the books!!!

  40. Amber Says:

How can they cut her? No, she isn’t one of the most important characters, but how do they expect to have Bill’s scene where he was bit by Greyback without her? It will make absolutely no sense if he shows up to get married in the 7th book with scars everywhere and no one knows why, when he is supposed to be so good-looking, and they can’t remove the wedding scene from the 7th book. They are ruining J.K. Rowling’s masterpiece. They should all fall in holes and rot there!!!

  41. Kat Says:

Ok first they cut the twins, now they’re cutting her?! I thought they said the entire cast was returning?! There’s going to be no one left, the way they’re going! I know theyve got to cut some stuff due to time frames, etc, but this is absolutely ridiculous!!

  42. bre Says:

this is stupid why do they have to cut the important charaters i hope that jk rowling gets mad about this

  43. dan fan Says:

oomg it took me 3 mounth to get over how they butchered ootp i gess this will be even worst why why why i’m so p*****

  44. Nikita Says:

    :(
    HBP=FAIL

  45. Angel Says:

OMG. Do you all realize how big of an impact this will have on all of the movies from here on out? I mean, Bill and Fleur aren’t engaged, Harry Ron and Hermione don’t go to the wedding, the patronus doesn’t come to warn them, and certain house elves don’t die. THAT SUCKS. Fire the director, he’s ruining this amazing book. I wonder what JKR has to say about this!

  46. zoe Says:

hi sorry ik ben nederland maar… ik kan een betje engels

    hello

  47. mike Says:

they r really ruining these works of literature there were 3 relationships that i wanted to see in the movie they just took away one of them. she was one of those roles that was not one of the most important but had its needed place. they r changing it too much next thing u know he is going to jump around in blue pj’s with a cape on his back. they need to keep the fans happy in order to make there pockets happy.. stop changing the books!!!

  48. Temari Says:

Well that blows! I was looking forward to her!
*goes all emo and refuses to go see the movie*

  49. Teri Says:

I can’t believe they’re cutting her out of this film!!! Her being in it isn’t so much important to the 6th movie as it is to the seventh! If they try to cut the wedding scene, they may as well not make the movie at all because they’re cutting such a crucial scene!!!!

  50. kitty Says:

You cant take her out of the film. Its MAGjor part imn the film!!!!!
