Kristen Stewart Wants A ‘Twilight’ Series That Sucks…In All The Right Ways

Kristen StewartArticle by Alexandra Gambardella

“Harry Potter” did it for wizards, “Lord of the Rings” won big for hobbits, and “Narnia” brought it home for the talking woodland creatures. But can a soon-to-shoot movie similarly turn the creaky film cliché of vampires into the next multimillion-dollar fantasy flick franchise?

“The movie is called ‘Twilight,’” 17-year-old “Into the Wild” actress Kristen Stewart beamed when we recently spoke to her. “['Lords of Dogtown' filmmaker] Catherine Hardwicke is directing it in Washington. It’s based on a book that’s pretty popular [among] young adult, high school kids.”

Although Stewart and co-star Robert Pattinson (Cedric Diggory!) will soon film only the first movie, they’re already talking about turning the vampire storyline into a series that really sucks. And since the latest book sold over 150,000 copies in its first day alone, Bella and Edward fans everywhere are already counting down the months until the film’s release.

“People really love these books,” said Stewart. “Right now it’s a trilogy, and a fourth book is coming out, so hopefully we’ll get to shoot all four.”

For those who haven’t yet been bitten, “Twilight” will feature Stewart as Bella Swan, a teenage girl whose life gets turned upside-down after she meets and falls in love with a vampire. Additional names will be cast in the next few weeks, but according to the actress, 21-year-old Pattinson is already sinking his teeth into the role of Edward.

“He’s so good and he’s so soulful and he’s just not a liar — you can feel pain from him,” Stewart cooed. “The cool thing about the story is that it’s a seemingly wonderful fantasy — let’s fall in love with vampires and live forever — but it’s so much harder than that. Imagine living forever. Living one life is hard enough.”

But don’t get fooled into thinking this is going to be “The Notebook” for the undead. “The main character is like, superhuman,” Stewart said of the action scenes in the script. “He’s a vampire, but with really [heightened powers]; he can run faster than a car can drive, and he’s super strong. He throws me over his back [in one scene], right before he’s going to tell me that he’s a vampire, and then he runs over the treetops. And we’re going to be in real treetops; we’re not just going to CGI it. We actually get to go up there, and that’s what I’m stoked on.”

“It’s a pretty triumphant love story,” Stewart concluded, looking forward to stepping in front of the cameras. “It’s gonna take a while, and it [deserves to be] at least a series of three.”

  1. throw over his back...?????? uff.. I have a bad feeling about this movie... and pattinson is just too old.. how is he supposed not to age when he's already 21 and should look 17??? expecially if they also want to do a sequel...!! (ok let's trust summit entertainments......) anyway even here in italy we really can't wait to read the last book !
  2. Sorry, please disregard my (3:41pm) comments. Thanks.
  3. DOES IT SAY "throw over his back"...?????? uff.. I have a bad feeling about this movie... and pattinson is just too old.. how is he supposed not to age when he's already 21 and should look 17??? expecially if they also want to do a sequel...!! (ok let's trust summit entertainments......) anyway even here in italy we really can't wait to read the last book !
  4. The thing everyone seems to forget is that most movies that are based on books are never just like the books. I saw Holes in 2003. That followed the book directly with few changes. However, Holes is not nearly as long as Twilight. There has to be changes in the movie from the book. The books are just too long with too much detail. They have to adjust to how much time they have among many other factors.

As for the doubts about the actors. Look them up. They're not bad actors. They can act (surprisingly!). When so many look at Robert Pattinson, they see Cedric Diggory. Yes, that was one role, and Edward is another roll. If people would actually look into his past movies when he was less well-known people might finally realize the magic of movie make-up. If they can make a fifteen year old look twenty-five, I'm sure they can make a twenty-one year old look seventeen.
  5. i was so excited about the fact the books were turning into Movies, cause i love the books, alot!

But if people are going to change the whole story line and twist it into something it isn't, whats the point in seeing it, People who haven't read the books are going to think that this movie is just not real enough and won't even bother to read the books

Keep to the story line and forget the whole walking on tree tops thing, because that isn't real, and doesn't happen in the book. How the hell does a vampire and human girl walk on trees?

and how is Patterson gonna play Edward when he is too old?

Sorry to complain but i am really really passionate about these books and don't want people to think the movie wasn't good and never give the actual books a chance.

    Sorry, But Kristins good...:)
  6. They will drive this series into the ground. It's soooooooooo infuriating! coz there are people out there that just wait for movies to come out instead of reading the book. Then everyone will be like, k, what the hells with this? Why are they running over treetops? And the script writer should be fired for putting that in the script. ARGH! it makes me so mad! They're going to ruin the image of twilight. Instead of people think it's this incredible love story they'll think it's a movie with scene's that make no sense whatsoever! Ruining it ppl, ruining it!
  7. I really wanted Gaspard Ulliel to play Edward, but I guess it won't hurt to give Robert a chance...I guess...I just hope that they won't ruin the beautiful story just like how they did to Blood and Chocolate...that was just sad...
    ~alohas&mahaloS~

P.S. I THINK TAYLOR SWIFT SHOULD PLAY ROSALIE HALE & STEPHEN STRAIT SHOULD PLAY JACOB BLACK
  8. Ok first of all people the running over treetops yes it isn't in the book but that is just a small detail. So it shouldn't matter that much.
Second Edward telling Bella he is a vampire after he puts her on his back?! WTF That is so not in the book Bella found out with Jacobs help so.....what are they going to do cut out the scene where Bella goes to Port Angeles and Edward rescues her after being followed? Cause that is when she told him her 'Theory' - after he buys her dinner of course. So this is when Edward confirms her theory without actually saying anything.
Finally about Robert playing Edward, I know he is...old but their is Hollywood magic you know. But my friend and I agree that their should be a different actor to play Edward.
Now all we have to do is sit and wait and see wether or not that Summit messes this movie up or not.
Auf Wiedersehen! - Translation 'Goodbye!' in German.
  9. I'm mortified right now.
    RUN OVER THE TREE TOPS?
what is up with that? Edward can't run over tree tops, he never does anything like it. why would he? it will look so stupid.
Me an my friends (we've all read the twilight series) will prolly laugh through the whole movie, cause it'll suck. I hate it when they change the original story to make it all "action". Eragon and Blood and Choclate, are both brilliant books like Twilight, but the movies are terribly, they just change everything but the names and what they are. The only movie based on a book, I've ever seen that's been really good is Atonement, cause it really stays close to the book.

but yeh, I wanted Emily Browning as Bella, and Gaspard Ulliel as Edward, but I'm fine with Robert, brittish is sexy. But I can't stand Kristen.
  10. i think they will ruin this, because you just can't capture the beauty of a book. i mean seriously, runnging over the treetops? what the heck, thats something that was never in the book and sheouldn't be in the movie, just because there is more important things in the book that could be put in there.
  11. Let's give her a chance. I mean, of course, I believe Pattinson is allllll wrong for Edward, but I think Kristen can pull it off. People, actors are meant to ACT their parts. I mean, just because Jackie Chan ran around jumping off buildings doesn't mean he does that on a daily basis.
  12. I love, love loved the books and cannot wait till the movie and the next book it sounds fantastic and i think the director , producer and actors will be wonderful
    Cant wait
  13. I love the twilight series and wish the actors and actreses good luck! I can't wait till the movie comes out, but it better be as good as the books. If not i still watch it to enjoy the effort of trying to replicate such a wonderful masterpiece!
  14. tree tops? there is nothing about tree tops in Twilight they run thruogh the woods and bella figures out that edward is a vampire by her self im obsessed with the series so don't tell me i dont know what im talking about so far my hopes of this movie not being another eragon are slowly fading some one reasure me
  15. I really hope Stewert is ready for this movie, she's will have to feel the role of Bella, in my opinion, to get that sense to make this movie worth while. I think this movie, and hopefully more to come, will be spectacular, and Stewert is a wonderful character to play Bella.
  16. Well, it's awesome that Kristen seems so enthusiastic about it, and she seems to have read the books, so she gets two more points from me. I think she's going to do a great job as Bella, and I think Robert Pattinson is going to make an absolutely excellent Edward. The thing about the treetops seems a bit odd (I keep thinking of Tarzan), but still, this movie sounds better by the day. Now we just have to wait to see who they cast for the rest of the parts...
  17. Treetops?? I totally agree, there is nothing in Twilight about them going over treetops. That's what happens in movies, they totally re-do the books to their own liking. I truly hope that this movie is not going to do that and am still very anxious to see it. Please, please stay true to the story line!
  18. dont worry, it will be okay. i thought about this, too, i am also a big fan. But, then again, Stephenie DID say that there were going to be some changes in the movie that werent like in the book, like the treetops.
i want to wish all of the actresses and actors good luck on making this movie extremely fantastic, because i have a feeling, if they dont, no one- especially them- is going to be happy, and the fans might *REALLY* hurt them. not cool, but its not like it cant happen. Kristen will do such a great job as Bella, I have seen a few of her movies, and they're great. I think that Robert Pattinson might not be able to pull off the PERFECT Edward Cullen, but then again, who can match up to the ONE AND ONLY Edward. Even though I dont think he's right for the part, we still have to give him a chance. AND if he sucks, then they will just replace him with a better and -more importantly- a more Edward-like actor. And this SO WONT be another Eragon, where you LOVE the book, but then the movie stinks on ice.

  19. i think this movie will be great, but like all movies based on books things are going to be different. we all want twilight the movie to be exactly like the book, but it's just not going to happen. they have to add things or even take away things to make this movie. i'm all for it. i love twilight so i kno i will love the movie. good luck to all the actors especially robert pattinson who has to play our gorgeous edward.
  20. Don't worry Sierra, I am incredibly obsessed with these books too. If you go to Stephenie Meyer's website (which I'm sure you might have already), she says that she is very pleased with the movie and how closely it borderlines with her book. I figure, if we can't trust Stephenie Meyer about her opinion on the movie, who can we trust?
  21. in the book edward and bella run in the trees
NOt over them i understand it'd be cool but thats not how it happens

    other than that its AWESOME

cant wait till it comes out
  22. I am soooooooooo excited. it is going to be amazing. but I do agree with Sierra i really really realllyyyy hope it does nottt turn out like eragon. my mom always told me the book is gonna be better than the movie but i hope this one is just as good. I think everything every part in twilight is very very important to whatever then happens so it would be a very bad idea to leave anything out. But I'm still excited and can't wait for the next book to come out next fall.. seems so far away. o well. I hope the movie turns out wonderful and yes i do think no matter what anyone thinks you should keep it going as a movie series as well.
  23. the movie is going to be awesome
i cant wait stephenie meyer is the best author ever and i wish her the best of luck ever!
i cant wait till the movie and breaking dawn
  24. i still cant wait for the movie.
    though. =D
  25. I hate that Pattison is playing Edward. He just doesnt seem perfect for that part. And treetops? Thats a little bizzare. I hope that they stick to the book better than theyve lead me to believe. If this movie sucks Im gonna be so disappointed.
  26. Isn't all of this kind of like when Daniel Craig became James Bond and everyone was like "NOOOO he's NOT the James Bond I imagine, he's this or that and blonde and ugly and not Pierce, not Sean oh my God he'll suck" ... and then Casino Royale came out.

    Tan Tan taaaaaan.

Daniel Craig... Best... James... Bond... EVAH!

So come on people, give Robert Pattinson a chance!
  27. i hope they don't change the book too much.
  28. I've been honestly debating in my head to go see it or not. I want to see really bad and see how it turns out, because I LOVE the book series. But then another part of is saying "Don't see it, it's not worth it if it's bad, it'll just ruin it for you." But I am stoked. I didn't imagine Edward looking like that, but Pattinson, I'm sure, will do a great job, as will Stewart.
  29. Seriously, running over the tree tops may be TOO MUCH.
He runs THROUGH woods, not OVER them. Wrong preposition.
Don't ruin the series with corny overexaggerated antics.
    grar.
  30. I'm really happy about Kristen playing Bella, but I'm not too thrilled about Robert Pattinson as Edward, just because he played Cedric Diggory. There will probably being a whole bunch of girls who don't know what the movie is about, going to see this when it comes out because Robert's in it.

I just don't like the idea at all.
  31. as i was reading the books the first person that popped into my head for edward was Robert Pattinson! strangely enough i find it easier to visualize a story when i can place a face with the character and he's just who i thought of... for instance i picture emmett (Edward's brother) as Daniel Cudmore (colossus for x-men 3)... i am totally stoked for Robert i totally believe he can own this role! ~* R-O-B-E-R-T--P-A-T-T-I-N-S-O-N*~
  32. i love the book and all my friends do to... Robert wasnt my first pick for Edward but i have high hopes for him and the female lead Kristen. so when Twilight comes out you know ill be waiting in line to watch it.
  33. I agree with the fact that if Stephenie Meyer enjoys it and she's the author of the fabulous series Twilight, then who's to judge the actors or even the treetops. For Edward, yeah i dont think Robert would be the best for the part looks wise, but he was phenominal in Harry Potter, why cant he do a phenominal job in Twilight? Also, i know Edward didnt tell Bella about him being a Vamp. but hey, if it fits, it fits. We havent even seen the movie yet and we're judging it already. It could be the greatest movie in the world, or it could be a total disgrace to the book (which, i think all of the fans would be outside of the actors and directors house with pitchforks and torches, but thats besides the point), but either way, thats what we've got. as long as Stephenie's happy, i'm happy, because what's any better then getting critique from the creater of this totally awesome book. they cant @$~*% it up totally, because the books have so many good things in it, they wont be able to put anything bad in it, and if they do, well, we all know it wasnt the books fault. The good thing about stephenie's work is, we can all see eveything in our heads, because she can describe her things very well, her characters, settings, cars, homes, even the way they talk. if all else fails, when you read, make your own little movie in your head, and you can even make it end the way you want to. it may sound crazy, but either way, we will be happy in the end. I have a feeling if they @$~*% it up, stephenie wont be too happy with them and break the contract somehow. so dont you fret, stephenie wont let anything horrible happen to our wonderful couple Bella and Edward!!!
  34. I agree with the other entries about the tree top situation. I've read twillight so many times that I'm a bit embarrased to give you the exact number. Never once did Edward run across tree tops. They need to keep it as close to the book as they can. After all, we need to keep the fans coming back....just imagine how that will generate ticket sales. People read and reread this book because they love it so. Imagaing how many tickets they will buy it the movie is even half as entertaining.
  35. To be honest i'm a little worried about how the movie will turn out. I havn't really liked there choices for Edward and Bella but i don't know i could be wrong. I can't wait to see how the movie turns out.
  36. haha I'm kind of against Robert being Edward. I REALLY wanted Tom Sturridge to play him!! lol He would have been perfect!
  37. Sigh*... I really hope that the movie won't be too of topic... "He throws me over his back [in one scene], right before he’s going to tell me that he’s a vampire, and then he runs over the treetops." ~That wasn't in the book.)
And hehe... it does sort of sound like Kristen hasn't read the Twilight Series books yet...

And hey, the more we love the Twilight series, the higher expectations we will have of the movie... but just try not to think that the movie will be fantastic and brilliant and romantic. As people always say, the books will always better than the movie... (in most cases) :D
  38. I think Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson will be perfect in these rolls. Not sure on Robert? Re-watch some of the scenes in Goblet of Fire. It's as though he was made to be Edward. I agree about the concerns with the tree tops. I just hope the right choices are made. Us fans are fierce about these books and know every minute detail. :)
  39. I DID NOT AGREE WITH THE CHOICE FOR BELLA AT FIRST BUT NOW I LOVE THE ONE THEY CHOSE. ON THE OTHER HAND I HATE THE EDWARD THEY CHOSE I WANTED HENRY CAVILL TO PLAY HIM. ROBERT PATTINSON IS JUST UGLY!SORRY BUT ITS TRUE. HE DOES NOT EVEN COME CLOSE TO GIVING EDWARD JUSTICE. I THOUGHT EDWARD WAS SUPPOSED TO BE BEAUTIFUL! WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?!
  40. I AM SCARED TO FIND OUT WHO ELSE THEYVE CAST.
  41. Well I think Robert can pull through I mean, if youve ever seen Lestat in Queen of the Damned and then looked up pictures of how the actor who played him looks like normally you would have never guessed that guy could look so awsome as a vampire! I think Robert can pull through with the right makeup. I just hope everyone who is making the film reads the book and gets into the role the only way they are going to pull this off right is steeping right into edward and bellas world. I LOVE EDWARD CULLEN!!!!!!!
  42. grrrrr Edward would never tell her......makes me angry and hello tree top running just sounds corny.....*grrrrrrr*..... );
  43. The more we like the Twilight series, the higher the expectations we will have of the movie.

If Stephenie says she likes the progress of the movie, then we should too: be happy with it at least. We can't expect it to be really, really brilliant, romantic and fantastic... because of the book: the movie will never be exactly the same as the book. And yet, before it is even made, we are already critisizing it. And plus, I have read many critics about Robert as Edward, but hey, I think he should do a great job in Twilight. (He did star in 'Harry Potter' after all), and he's a good actor. So is Kristen. She should do well as Bella.
And, so far, it does sound as though the movie isn't loyal to the book, but if you think about it, there's always the good parts: maybe it will turn out to be an awesome film, but we are critisizing about it because we heard the bad stuff about it like it having different points that aren't included in the Twilight book. But maybe that point had to be done to fit the rest of the movie.

So, overall, who knows, this movie may be fantastic or craptastic. :) When it's released!
  44. I cant wait for the movie OR the 4th book! I think Robert will be a Great Edward. He is not what I was imaginin' but I think he will do great! I cant wait. Has anyone heard of a date we are lookin at for this movie to come out? I know they are suppose to announce this Thursday when the next book is to come out! I believe it will be this fall!
  45. The most important factor that a director needs to consider is not if the actor can play the part, but in a movie like this, is whether the two main characters have any chemistry together. If that fails in this movie, it doesn't matter how well it is acted, directed, ect. This is a book that centers around two people whose love affair transcends family, friends and even immortality. I would make sure Kristen and Robert have that chemistry, or I would be looking for two other actors in a hurry.
  46. I 'm really interested in how the movie will turn out. I loved Twilight from the second that I was introduced to it and I hope that the movie will turn out well. I really hope that the movie production people won't ruin Twilight.
The tree top thing sounds really weird since it never happened in the book and Jacob was the one who told Bella thet the Cullens were vampires. It's also really hard for me to picture Robert Pattinson as Edward. I just can't stop thinking of him as Cedric Diggory who should be dead but now has come back to life as a vampie. I really wanted Henry Cavill to be Edward. Who cares if he's too old!
  47. Oh and... this might sound stupid, but do you think that any stars will read our comments? It is MTV after all...
If they do then... we might be doomed...
  48. hmmm....I think twilight will be a great succes.
I'm really looking foward to seein the movie on the big screen. I'm a big-time reader and absolutely loved the series. I must say that i didn't quite picture Bella or Edward like that, but Bella and Edward look diffrent to everybody.
overall, I think it will be great!
  49. huh...running on treetops..sounds..exciting..i'm sure the cast will due fine, but they're definately not what i imagined..now i'm just praying that they get a really great jacob to make up for it all! :)
  50. Hopefully many of the people stocked about this movie has red the books. I for one am totally excited for the movie, eventhough I know many of other fans aren't. They feel it will never match up to there own impression of Bella and Edward. However I feel Hardwicke(the director) understands the depth to this book. The characters are all very good and I definetely think the chemistry can be projected to make this film. Of course no human can ever be as gorgeous as the character I have visualized for Edward in my head but I'm willing to risk his beautiful image for a wonderful film. Just because there giving you a visual form of Edward doesn't mean you have to agree but watch the movie and judge it only then and not before. Does anyone know the date for the release though? I've been following it on Stephanie Meyers website mostly and if theres any other better pages let us know?
