Kristen Stewart Wants A ‘Twilight’ Series That Sucks…In All The Right Ways

Kristen StewartArticle by Alexandra Gambardella

“Harry Potter” did it for wizards, “Lord of the Rings” won big for hobbits, and “Narnia” brought it home for the talking woodland creatures. But can a soon-to-shoot movie similarly turn the creaky film cliché of vampires into the next multimillion-dollar fantasy flick franchise?

“The movie is called ‘Twilight,’” 17-year-old “Into the Wild” actress Kristen Stewart beamed when we recently spoke to her. “['Lords of Dogtown' filmmaker] Catherine Hardwicke is directing it in Washington. It’s based on a book that’s pretty popular [among] young adult, high school kids.”

Although Stewart and co-star Robert Pattinson (Cedric Diggory!) will soon film only the first movie, they’re already talking about turning the vampire storyline into a series that really sucks. And since the latest book sold over 150,000 copies in its first day alone, Bella and Edward fans everywhere are already counting down the months until the film’s release.

“People really love these books,” said Stewart. “Right now it’s a trilogy, and a fourth book is coming out, so hopefully we’ll get to shoot all four.”

For those who haven’t yet been bitten, “Twilight” will feature Stewart as Bella Swan, a teenage girl whose life gets turned upside-down after she meets and falls in love with a vampire. Additional names will be cast in the next few weeks, but according to the actress, 21-year-old Pattinson is already sinking his teeth into the role of Edward.

“He’s so good and he’s so soulful and he’s just not a liar — you can feel pain from him,” Stewart cooed. “The cool thing about the story is that it’s a seemingly wonderful fantasy — let’s fall in love with vampires and live forever — but it’s so much harder than that. Imagine living forever. Living one life is hard enough.”

But don’t get fooled into thinking this is going to be “The Notebook” for the undead. “The main character is like, superhuman,” Stewart said of the action scenes in the script. “He’s a vampire, but with really [heightened powers]; he can run faster than a car can drive, and he’s super strong. He throws me over his back [in one scene], right before he’s going to tell me that he’s a vampire, and then he runs over the treetops. And we’re going to be in real treetops; we’re not just going to CGI it. We actually get to go up there, and that’s what I’m stoked on.”

“It’s a pretty triumphant love story,” Stewart concluded, looking forward to stepping in front of the cameras. “It’s gonna take a while, and it [deserves to be] at least a series of three.”

  1. I know the movie can't have everything that the books had... so why are they adding stuff? I never really understood that.
I'm really hoping this doesn't turn into another Ella Enchanted, the only thing that book and movie had in common was a few (not even all) of the main character's names and the main character being under a curse.
Kristin looks a lot like Bella in that picture though. So here's to hoping that Edward looks like Edward. (Because if he doesn't I'll probably just wait and rent the DVD).
I can't wait for the previews, I think they'll decide my stance on the movie.
  2. "throws me over his shoulder" i don't remember that happening. she is willing to go with him. i also am starting to dread the production of this movie. though i do not mind who they chose for Edward and Bella, i hope they don't end up messing up the whole plot-line like they did in the movie "eragon" where they take out the key points to the plot, however i trust stephanie meyer and therefore i shall go and watch the movie, but if it starts to get bad partway through i will leave the theatre.
  3. They better not be skipping scenes here!I would be soooooo pissed.dude i think im going to heve a BF.I mean wtf?Do they want to like write the story for them or something.the port angeles part is pretty damn important dude and they cut it out.....um i believe im hyperventilating here.THIS CANNOT BE HAPPENING!!!!OMFG!!!
  4. I don't think Stephenie has a choice since authors sell the rights to do a movie. So she really doesn't have a say. But I think they'll do pretty well. At least they picked a suitable Edward :]
  5. Robert Pattison is going to suck.thats all I have to say.
  6. I'm glad that they are making a movie out of this, but when reading that there is a scene where Edward throws her over his shoulders I sort of panicked. I understand taking out some scenes, but like what Kat says, why put in scenes that weren't in the book if you could just take scenes from the book? Does that make sense? Yes, I'm anticipating this movie, I finally get to see it on a screen and see if people see it the way I do, but now I'm just scared....I don't want my love for Twilight vanish because of a movie that never goes with the book.
  7. wait a second....tree tops? telling her he's a vampire? uhh....that is NOT how it happened! Edward's not Superman (or a flying squirrel for that matter lol) he doesn't fly, he's Edward! he runs super fast! Hopefully, maybe, the point to the tree top things is going to make it LOOK like he's running through the forest super fast...yeah...that's it...
The only problem is that I have this book memorized, so it's probably going to be like "Hey! They didn't say that on page 211! They said this!" and "That is Not what Bella wore to her first day of school." You know that type of thing. I know, I know. It's pretty bad. But I'm giving them a chance. As long as it's really close to the book (no she doesn't have to be wearing the same outfit...except for maybe in the meadow...just kidding) then I think I'll be alright. *takes a deep breath* Wow. That was long. = )
  8. THEY CAN'T TAKE THE PORT ANGELES PART OUT!!!!!!!!!!! thats a b@*!h.
  9. Where did you here that they took the Port Angeles scene out? I am afraid that they won't be able to do the book justice.....and i am excited about Kristen Stewart and Pattison, i absolutley loved her in Speak and He was amazing as Cedric! But i guess we will just have to see what happens and hope for the best!
  10. ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS THE DUDE THAT THEY PICKED FOR EDWARD IS SOOOOOO UGLY! I MEAN CMON THERE ARE SO MANY PPL OUT THERE AND THEY PICKED A DUDE FROM FRICKEN HARRY POTTER.AND I AGREE IF THEY CUT ANY SCENES FROM THE BOOK I WILL B PISSED TO.2 TELL U THE TRUTH I NEVER WANTED THEM TO MAKE IT A MOVIE ANYWAY, IT WILL CHANGE THE WAY I THINK ABOUT IT AND I DONT WANT THAT.
  11. I am so glad i am not the only person who reads the books alot, i know them by heart! Yes i know that makes me a nerd....but at least i am not the only one :) I am not too worried, they will figure out how to do it :)
  12. WTF!!!!! they cannot take any scenes out of the book.they are all very important. This Is not Happening.Last time i checked my baby daddy does not run on trees.he runs rlly fast......on the ground.i think im going to sue dude its not fair.
    THIS IS NOT F@C#ING HAPPENING!!
  13. man i'm so excited for the movie but the edward they chose is ass ugly
they better not mess up on carlisle and jasper and emmet oh hell no!
i cried when i found out who edward was gonna be so did my friend
    robert p. suck shi#*^
  14. this girl didn't even read the book...
if she's planing in living, rising her career, pay the bills etc whit this movie she should at least do a research.
I think its desrespectfull with the fans, doing a research for your character is the basic for a role
  15. I don't know how I feel about the movie. I'm sort of anticipating and reading it all at once. I'm not convinced that the Edward they have chosen can really pull it off. Oh sure, the directors will say he can, but thats just to not deter people from buying a ticket. And the whole "adding scenes that don't exist thing", whats with that? It's absolutely idiotic. They did that in Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets as well, and a lot of people were angry. If they can afford to ADD in a NON-EXISTANT scene, they why do they have to cut the ones that really MATTER?
I heard that the Port Angeles scene is getting cut. Is that true? They really can't do that. It was a pretty pivotal point in the book. Wasn't it? Or am I the only one who thinks so?
As for Bella...well I think the actress they have will be fine. I would have preferred Emily Browning or Danielle Panabaker. They just seem like they would be great Bella's.
Gosh, and what about Jacob Black? Well, we know that they cannot for ANY reason cut him out. He is an absolutley important character to the entire series. Hopefully they pick someone who can pull it off... and is...err... attractive. (Haha)
Well, here's to hoping they don't muck everything up, like many, many, many, many have.
  16. There is a throws her over his shoulder scene but its not when hes going to tell her hes a vampire, but i dont remember a running on tree tops though... grr.. This kind of movie making makes me nervous because you know that not everything is going to be perfect and now its really starting to sound like its going to be like Ella Enchanted and pretty much just took the idea of the story and made their own.. omg i really hope this movie isn't gonna suck!!!!!
  17. Geez... I'm sorry, but everytime a writer types up a decent piece of literature, the first thing they all seem to do is sell it off to a movie-making studio. Sooo many great books have been botched beyond acceptability because of their creator's craving for more publicity. Damn, authors- stop selling out and hang on to your work! The whole beauty of reading a novel is bringing it to life in your HEAD.

Remember the good ol' days, when books stayed books and movies were a whole different ballpark...
  18. Wait...ummm...what’s she talking about? Superman? He specifically says HE IS NOT SUPERMAN! Running over tree tops? What the hell? THAT IS GOING TO BE GAY! I am a pretty open minded person, but I have said from the get go they shouldn’t do Twilight into a movie…these novels deal so much with emotion, you can’t capture that with a camera. I have faith in Rob, but I hate Kristen as Bella! Don’t get me wrong, she plays a good emo, but Bella is a down to earth sarcastic relatively happy girl, COME ON I think I have seen her smile like twice in her career. Boring! My last hope is Jasper…please cast at least a nice looking guy, please. I wonder if she knows all us fan girls are laughing at her right now…?
  19. I really hope they will make the movie good. Because they won't earn very much money if they fail!
Running on treetops? That's the stupidst idea I've ever heard!
And Kristen should really read the books. It seems like she has never even read the first chapter!
I love the books. But I have a bad feeling about the movie.
Robert P. is too old for Edward! Edward should look "boyish"! R.P. isn't even close to that!
  20. All I have to say is that as a 30 y.o. mom who has read the three books so far, is stoked by the fact that they are in production of Twilight. All I'm seeing is a bunch of "boohoo's" and "it's going to suck" this and "I hate the actors" that. We should be glad they even considered to do this movie, Kristen S. is pretty talented for her age and mature beyond her years and Robert P. is one good looking guy. He fits the look of what a 17 y.o. from 1918 would've looked like. He may not be the norm or "drop dead gorgeous" like some of you all wished for. Everyone has they're vision of what Edward and Bella looked like to them. Like Stephenie Meyer said in her site, she didn't have a say but she's extremely happy with the choices. And if the AUTHOR is happy then we should all respect her opinion.
  21. Wow girls, I am assuming most of you are, I am just as much as a fan, but chill!!! It is only a movie! Yeah, it will suck if they butcher it but it is too good of a cast and production team to do so. Can't you just be excited you got some new info and that they are doing some live action scenes instead of CGI?!? I think the scene will be awesome(if it indeed ends up in the movie instead of the editing room floor, that is).
  22. ok, lets get this straight....THEY HAD BETTER NOT TAKE OUT THE PORT ANGELES SCENE!!! THAT IS BY FAR MY FAVORITE SCENE IN THE BOOK!!! AND RUNNING ON TREE TOPS???????? I WILL SEND LOTS OF HATE MAIL IF THIS MOVIE ENDS UP BEING A "SORT OF KINDA BASED ON THE MOVIE, AS IN THEY HAVE THE SAME NAMES" SORTA THING!!!!!!!
    ARGHHHH ARRGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  23. NO! Hollywood is going to ruin Twilight! I could think of 20 more actress that would be better Bellas! "Throwing her over his shoulder"? What? Please Kristen, READ THE BOOK!
  24. OK PEOPLE FOR ONE STOP HATING ON ROBERT!!!!! JUST CUZ HES NOT THE GUY U GUYS CHOSE!! I THINK THAT HE LOOKS LIKE EDWARD IN THE PICTURES HE TOOK WITH KRISTEN!!!! AND NOT TO LOOK AT HOW HE LOOK IN THE STUPID HARRY POTTER BOOK!!! THEY MADE HIM LOOK LIKE THAT CUZ THATS HOW THE CHARECTOR IS SUPOSE TO LOOK IN THE MOVIE SO IM PRETY SURE THAT THEY MAKE ROBERT LOOK LIKE EDWARD WICH SHOULDNT BE HARD!!!!!AND IF THEY CUT ANY IMPORTANT PART IN THE BOOK LIKE THE PORT ANGELES PART OF THEM NOT HAVING A VICTORIA WILL BE VERY STUPID ON THERE PART!!!! BUT RUMORS R RUMORS SO WERE JUST GOING TO HAVE TO WAIT N SEE WICH OF COURSO WILL BE VERY HARD FOR ME CUZ I CANT WAIT!!!!!!!!!N MAYBE KRISTEN IS TALKNG ABOUT WHEN HE SHOWS HER HOW HE LOOKS IN THE SUN N THEN TAKES HER BACK TO HER CAR ON HIS BACK!!!!! WELL I THINK THATS ALL I WANT TO SAY IF I THINK OF ANYTHING ELSE ILL COME BACK!!!! LOVE YA FANS!!!
  25. wow, it sounds like it is going to be AWESOME I was worried that it was going to be bad but it really sounds good. I love the casting choice so far and I cannot wait to see who else will be involved. Wat can I say... obsessed :P
  26. P.S.- Where did it say Kristen did NOT read the books??
  27. I'm worried horribly that they'll ~#@~@ up the plotline (Blood & Chocolate being a perfect example of wonderful book turned into awful movie), but I'm really excited as well. If they get it right, it will be one of the best movies of all time. I think we should just thank Stephenie Meyer for the best vampire series I've ever read.
  28. WOW! talk about being harsh. i understand that everyone, myself included, wants or needs this movie to be as great as the books have been but don't be rude. IF for some reason Kristen OR Robert ever read this little blurb. . . well then. . . Good luck to you both, being young actors i hope that you are ready for the crazy fans you are about to receive after the completion of this film, and Robert . . . if you go about this in the right way you will be like Leonardo Decaprio was for young girls in Titanic. MAJOR!!!! remember, i said it first:)
  29. I'm really excited about the movie. Yeah, there's the possibility that they could butcher it. Even if that turns out to be the case, that won't keep the book from being absolutely amazing! I LOVE the Twilight series and I hope the movie turns out to be just as good. :)
  30. i believe bella is thrown over edwards shoulder either coming or going to the field they are playing baseball in.

as for the people playing edward and bella i don't really have a problem with it. and how can you expect anyone to look like edward. first of all there is no one as perfect looking as he is supposed to. secondly edward looks different to every one so not matter who was cast for his part not every one can or could be pleased.
  31. phylicia is right.. im a hardcore fan as well but lets all chill. dont expect absolute perfection EVER from a movie based on a fave book. just be glad they considered making it to a movie. thats alone is pretty freakin' awesome.

    xD
Argh? Geez.. someone needs a midol. lmao nah, just teasing you crazy people like me. simply more expressive in text i guess.
    x)
  32. Ok, I am sooooooooo excited about the movie, and I like all the character choices, but I am getting a little worried now. I was like half way down the page and I read the "throwing me over his back and running across the treetops"... what the freak?!?!?!???!!!!?? That never happens...what treetop running???? If this movie-that by the way I have been obsessing about since I knew they were making one-is messed up or takes out any major parts, I will seriously stalk down the directors and take care of them myself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Twilight book deserves to be honored by a wonderful movie and nothing less!!! All I have to say is that it had better be good...
  33. kristen... read the book.
  34. Since the Twilight Series are my favorite books, of course I am excited that they are being made into movies, but I am worried that they will suck. That tends to happen when books are made into movies.
When I read that there will be a scene when Edward throws Bella over his shoulder and "runs over the treetops"(?), that disappointed me. Why ADD scenes that don't even exist in the book.
I don't care what anyone else says because I think that Robert Pattinson will play a great Edward. He is exactly how I would picture Edward anyway. But I'm not as excited about Kristen Stewert. She is a great actor and I love her movies, but I don't think that she can pull off Bella's character.
  35. Ok well we all know that a movie based on a book is never as good as the book. but theres nothing to do about it. Loren is right when she says the movies wont affect the book. i mean come on, breaking dawn is coming soon... sooner that this movie.

dont get me wrong... im as excited for the movie as much as the next twilight fangirl, but lets get real.

still, i wonder what changes there will be... hopefully it wont be bad enough for ur to throw popcorn at the screen! ^_^
  36. what the heck?! sounds like they're changing alot! Edward never told her about being a vampire on the treetops! if its true that Victoria is out of the movie then they completely mess up the story line to the sequel if they decide to do it! i get that they can't show everything in the book but you cant just change things completely or take a person out. it completely ruins it...o well. i dont mean to sound crazy but it just gets on my nerves when the movies end up so messed up when the books are great.
  37. i also think kristen will be a great bella too!! guys if u think positive its way less stressfull!!!
  38. I can't wait for this movie to come out! I am so excited! Like others before me, I pray they don't cut out scenes that are important...I am curious as to how the movie will turn out... you can only hope for the best right!? Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson are Bella and Edward for me... I think she should read the book though...
  39. Ok....Everyone needs to calm down about the actors! They both will do good! I got alot of faith in robert! He's dedicated! He's read all three books ladies! And he's NOT unattractive girls. The running on treetops scene??? I agree! Wat the wow!! But hey it could be worse...All i ask is that the producers, please, PLEASE! Dont cut anything out If you can help it!These books mean alot to alot of people! But all you fellow fans...try to be thankful! We got a movie! Maybe more than one! So take deep breaths! It will be ok!
  40. I love twilight and i am so glad about the actors, so many people (that i've introduced into twilight) are dead pleased about who's playing bella GO KRISTEN and i think she'll do a fab job. plz plz plz let the movie be at least half as good as a book, then it'll be a real success.
  41. Goodness! People need to take it down a notch on here! I was personally confused by the whole "throwing over the back" thing being when he tells her, but you never know. No movie is going to be EXACTLY like the book it's based on. I think the two will do a great job on the roles. Both are very capable actors. I'm personally excited to see how they adapt it to the big screen. Key word being ADAPT.
  42. i love this series and i cant wait for it the movie and the new book to come out!!! Ive already gotten all my friends and my cousin on the other side of canada to read it!
  43. ok im also uber excited...but i did however read something that was suposedly a script or something i was sent on a fan site that totally blew my mind...they were talking about when bella visits the house and there are like 50-60 graduation caps -which was clearly not in the book- and then it said they MIGHT NOT cast a billy. i was like wtf?!?!?!?! i really hope they dont change the movie too far from the book. i mean sure some of it is necessary to add more action in the film i have mixed emotions about this film but im still uber stoked! even if it ends it will be comforting to finally be able to put faces with characters. ---and i have been reading complaints on robert >.
  44. O........and kristen??....READ THE DANG BOOK!
  45. First of all, these books are NOT just popular amongst high school kids! I graduated a while back and LOVED these books! Second, Stephenie Meyer was pretty content about how Summit is planning to stay as true to the book as possible. If they throw in a few extra little special effects, who care? The important thing is that the author's story gets across, and I feel it will! Tree-top running or not! Don't judge until you see the movie!
  46. ~He throws me over his back [in one scene], right before he’s going to tell me that he’s a vampire, and then he runs over the treetops. And we’re going to be in real treetops; we’re not just going to CGI it. We actually get to go up there, and that’s what I’m stoked on.~
    uhm wtf....
thats NOT how it happens in the books....
=( i hope it dusnt kill the books i really hope it dusnt
  47. wth?
does she know what she's talking about...
  48. I really, really, love this series, and I can't wait for the movie to come out. Though it would be best if the movie stays true to the book, since if there are too many different scenes and points that aren't even in the book, then I guess I'll be pretty lost... Though of course, as people say, it is good to add a few different things in the movie to make it better, but just make sure there isn't too much that the main point of the story is lost... I have been reading complaints from many people about Robert lately... but personnally, I don't see what the problem is. I think he should do great in the movie as Edward. As well as Kristen for Bella.
  49. well i think that since the book is amazing then there is nothing to worry about...
    so people chill
    its just a movie
and if you don't like it...
then don't buy it when it comes out on dvd
it isn't going to make the books less amazing if the movie sucks
    and rumors will be rumors...
hopefully the movie is true to the book
so stop being so obsessive and mean because you aren't the ones in the movie
  50. I really, really love this series, and can't wait for the movie to come out. Though it would be best if the movie stays true to the book, so far, from what the other people have said, (and not just those from this website, but from my friends as well) it doesn't seem like the movie will be very loyal to the book... And I've been reading complaints about Robert... but personally, I think he should do well as Edward. So far, I've gotten all my friends to read the Twilight series. :)
