“Harry Potter” did it for wizards, “Lord of the Rings” won big for hobbits, and “Narnia” brought it home for the talking woodland creatures. But can a soon-to-shoot movie similarly turn the creaky film cliché of vampires into the next multimillion-dollar fantasy flick franchise?
“The movie is called ‘Twilight,’” 17-year-old “Into the Wild” actress Kristen Stewart beamed when we recently spoke to her. “['Lords of Dogtown' filmmaker] Catherine Hardwicke is directing it in Washington. It’s based on a book that’s pretty popular [among] young adult, high school kids.”
Although Stewart and co-star Robert Pattinson (Cedric Diggory!) will soon film only the first movie, they’re already talking about turning the vampire storyline into a series that really sucks. And since the latest book sold over 150,000 copies in its first day alone, Bella and Edward fans everywhere are already counting down the months until the film’s release.
“People really love these books,” said Stewart. “Right now it’s a trilogy, and a fourth book is coming out, so hopefully we’ll get to shoot all four.”
For those who haven’t yet been bitten, “Twilight” will feature Stewart as Bella Swan, a teenage girl whose life gets turned upside-down after she meets and falls in love with a vampire. Additional names will be cast in the next few weeks, but according to the actress, 21-year-old Pattinson is already sinking his teeth into the role of Edward.
“He’s so good and he’s so soulful and he’s just not a liar — you can feel pain from him,” Stewart cooed. “The cool thing about the story is that it’s a seemingly wonderful fantasy — let’s fall in love with vampires and live forever — but it’s so much harder than that. Imagine living forever. Living one life is hard enough.”
But don’t get fooled into thinking this is going to be “The Notebook” for the undead. “The main character is like, superhuman,” Stewart said of the action scenes in the script. “He’s a vampire, but with really [heightened powers]; he can run faster than a car can drive, and he’s super strong. He throws me over his back [in one scene], right before he’s going to tell me that he’s a vampire, and then he runs over the treetops. And we’re going to be in real treetops; we’re not just going to CGI it. We actually get to go up there, and that’s what I’m stoked on.”
“It’s a pretty triumphant love story,” Stewart concluded, looking forward to stepping in front of the cameras. “It’s gonna take a while, and it [deserves to be] at least a series of three.”

well choa.
p.s. I'm sorry for the long message, i just have a lot of opinions
i also think that if yo have not read the Host you definately should. it is amazing!
so, good luck to ALL the actors, directors, cameramen/women, and everyone else, ESPECIALLY Stephenie Meyer.
**sorry for all of you who were polite about not liking the movie, i meant to just address the one whos name i mentioned earlier**
they haveeee to do the Port Angeles scene!!
when shes about to be reallyy hurt by some guys edward swoops in and saves her then he is all mad, then she finally guesses correctly, that he is in fact a vampire.
i really really hope they dont cut that part out! :'[
And I know that this doesn't have anything to do with the movie, but WHEN THE HELL is Bella going to turn into a vampire?! I'm reallllllly looking forward to see that transformation...:D
And going back to what a ceratin Victoria said...I really don't think that you should have been so rude to Desiree. This is a site where everyone can put there opinions and worries and get support from other fans. I really didn't appreciate how you were scolding practicallly everyone for saying what's on thier mind. Of course, I'm acting like a hypocrite right now but still...If you are going to be mad at her for putting bad thoughts up, don't put up your own.
And lastly, I know this sounds lame but I really hope someone reads all of these concerns. Probably no one has the time but it would make the movie so much better if the listened to us. Like how theonering.net is asking fans on thier opinions for the upcoming Hobbit movie. OOPS! I'm off topic again. Sorry for writing so much...No one is going to read this anyway though...
p.s. Victoria, I don't think that you should tell people what to say and not say! It probably took aLOt of guts to write some of the things on this blog because some of them are REALLY critical. If you do or don't like what they wrote, you don't have to contradict them with your opinions. We have free speech, and we use it. Sue us!!
p.s. Victoria, I don't think you should bag on other people's opinions. It's not your decision on how desiree feels. It probably took some guts to write something like that. And you may have some opinions that people didn't like too. But at least those people commented on the movie and not your post. Just saying.
I know I'm being a little harsh. I'm satisfied with the cast (I would never be able to do better), but looking at how the filming has gone so far, and the trailers, I'm not too impressed.
Harry Potter was bad enough (I was in grade two, watching the movie and declaring the movie a fraud because of the cut out scenes. I shamed Harry Potter movies), but I will not approve of butchering my favourite series. I do not enjoy standing idly by, waiting for months on end to watch a movie that may or may not make my blood boil (wow. Nearly a pun).
thx for the great happening! lol
<33 katie.
I have a feeling they're going to change the book a bit... and I won't like it :P BUT, I'm going to try and watch the movie without comparing it to the book...
What you picture in your head, when you read the book, is your own perfect vision. Obviously the movie won't be like that. So I’ll have to try to watch the movie, and not think about the book.
I think the actors will do a good job, although, I think they have quiet a challenge :P
Luck to them, haha
I think everyone thinks of edward or bella or the setting a little differently.
But i hope it turns out good.!
PS. ROBERT PATTINSON = SEXY :)
Lord of the rings, some parts were the same, some not, who cares?
As much as we ALL UTTERLY LUV THEM 4EV WAT the prob. Cant wait!!!
