Kristen Stewart Wants A ‘Twilight’ Series That Sucks…In All The Right Ways

Kristen StewartArticle by Alexandra Gambardella

“Harry Potter” did it for wizards, “Lord of the Rings” won big for hobbits, and “Narnia” brought it home for the talking woodland creatures. But can a soon-to-shoot movie similarly turn the creaky film cliché of vampires into the next multimillion-dollar fantasy flick franchise?

“The movie is called ‘Twilight,’” 17-year-old “Into the Wild” actress Kristen Stewart beamed when we recently spoke to her. “['Lords of Dogtown' filmmaker] Catherine Hardwicke is directing it in Washington. It’s based on a book that’s pretty popular [among] young adult, high school kids.”

Although Stewart and co-star Robert Pattinson (Cedric Diggory!) will soon film only the first movie, they’re already talking about turning the vampire storyline into a series that really sucks. And since the latest book sold over 150,000 copies in its first day alone, Bella and Edward fans everywhere are already counting down the months until the film’s release.

“People really love these books,” said Stewart. “Right now it’s a trilogy, and a fourth book is coming out, so hopefully we’ll get to shoot all four.”

For those who haven’t yet been bitten, “Twilight” will feature Stewart as Bella Swan, a teenage girl whose life gets turned upside-down after she meets and falls in love with a vampire. Additional names will be cast in the next few weeks, but according to the actress, 21-year-old Pattinson is already sinking his teeth into the role of Edward.

“He’s so good and he’s so soulful and he’s just not a liar — you can feel pain from him,” Stewart cooed. “The cool thing about the story is that it’s a seemingly wonderful fantasy — let’s fall in love with vampires and live forever — but it’s so much harder than that. Imagine living forever. Living one life is hard enough.”

But don’t get fooled into thinking this is going to be “The Notebook” for the undead. “The main character is like, superhuman,” Stewart said of the action scenes in the script. “He’s a vampire, but with really [heightened powers]; he can run faster than a car can drive, and he’s super strong. He throws me over his back [in one scene], right before he’s going to tell me that he’s a vampire, and then he runs over the treetops. And we’re going to be in real treetops; we’re not just going to CGI it. We actually get to go up there, and that’s what I’m stoked on.”

“It’s a pretty triumphant love story,” Stewart concluded, looking forward to stepping in front of the cameras. “It’s gonna take a while, and it [deserves to be] at least a series of three.”

  1. omg! i am so excited i can't wait for the movie, i am a little concerned as to how much they are gonna change the script.........they dont go on top of the trees and edward tells her after...wtf!....stewart seems to be excited and happy about playing this roll, and i think shes gonna do fine..... edward and bella are an awesome couple.....!
  2. running over the treetops is going to be awesome!!! sorry to people who hate them changing the books, but watching edward prance over tree tops with bella on his back is going to be ten thousand times more exciting than them sitting in a car. people are gonna see this movie and its gonna be all adrenaline and they are all gonna be like "OMG!! gotta read that book NOW!!!!" i'm SO excited!!!!

    ROBERT PATTINSON dribble.
  3. Omigosh! im sooooo worried about the movie!! What if its all wrong then its a waste of waiting for this movie!!! Stewart and Pattinson look like an ok couple i guess so i'll just wait and see the movie!! its too long to wait!! T-T
  4. hello my french my name julia

    I soso english sorry
    thank you!!!!
  5. Wow, I'm so excited to see the movie. Kristen Stewart will have a great time playing as the clumsy and lovestruck Bella Swan. Robert, who now goes by Spunk Ransom and R-Pattz, is a perfect fit for the georgous and mysterious vampire Edward Cullen. The books are amazing; Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and soon-to-be-released Breaking Dawn are all amazingly suspensful and romantic love stories. Breaking Dawn will hopefully be a clever book to sum up the saga. Oh, I almost forgot. I heard a rumor (or is it one?) that a book called Midnight Sun will be released sometime in 2009. It is not only Twilight; it is in Edward's point of view, which means that when Bella and Edward are away from each other, we might get to see what happened in the past parts of his life, and what he does when he is away from Bella. How exciting these two years will be!

  6. WTF? running on top of the trees. I hope they don't butcher the movie by not making it anything like the book. Robert is going to be a great edward but kristen doesn't sound like she will be able to pull off the part of bella. I can't wait to go see the movie. I'll still like the movie even if its horrible because I will always be able to read the real twilight:)
  7. The twilight book is so amazing...honestly I have not read a better book! I am excited about the movie, and cant stop talking about it. Im happy with the cast. But, totally worried they will cut some of the important scenes out. Im watching the trailer over and over and get goose bumps every time.
    Cant wait!
  8. ohkay. so im really worried.

its june and i havent heard or seen ANYTHING about Edward reading minds and Alice seeing the future and Jasper changing moods. that terrifies me the most. if that is changed i will cry. that makes everything more interesting. plus if they are making more movies they HAVE TO! Um.. new moon. ~# else would Edward think Bella was dead if he couldnt hear Alice thing it an Rosalie.

    ERGGGG>

i dont think Robert is that gorgeous though.
    i mean certain scenes maybe,
but just flat out not as much.
and he just doesnt seem to have great personality.
so how will he be able to play Edward right???

ohkay so i think im about done.

    !!breaking dawn is almost here!!
    YAY!!!!
  9. ROBERT IS....
    .
    .
    .
    HIDEOUS!
    so not edward
    ....
    Kelllan...
    hottie!
    especially with his hat.
    ugh gorgeous.
    .
    .
    .
    .
    Kristen fits well.
    well choa.
  10. OMG! I'm so nervous about what this movie's gonna look like. I mean, the previews look awesome and all but it seems like the movie is going to turn out like blood and chocolate and totally miss the point of the book. It looks like they're already cutting out the port angeles scene, WHAT'S NEXT?! And again with the running on the trees, how is that going to be BEFORE he tells her about him being a vampire? Either Bella's not getting with the program or Edward's a REALLY good actor (and I mean EDWARD). The director doesn't need to change ANYTHING, it's an awesome book as is, it didn't sell tons of copies because the cover is pretty!
  11. People! The movie isn't going to fail because almost every twilight fan is going to see it on the first few days. This has probably made most of the people working on the movie cocky because they are definately going to get all the money that they spent on the movie back in the first few days that it's in the theatre. These people are going to kill what we all hold close to our hearts. To all of you people worried about the treetop scene, it will kill the movie and set it up so they CAN'T make the sequels. It is going to ruin the presses views of the book and sales are going to drop because people won't want to buy the book when they can see the movie, and when they do see the movie they will think it will suck (because it probably will) and not buy the book. Stephenie needs to wake up and see hollywood lighting her most beatiful peice of literature on fire. Why couldn't the director of holes make this movie?!?! The only thing I have ever trusted is going to die and the people who made this book so great (the readers) don't even have a say in it. The book would be nothing if no one ever read it, and soon, in about 20 years, nobody will remember it (except people who already READ it) and remember the movie. I am about to cry with the frustration that this movie has caused me. I think the director might want to stick to thre script at least a LITTLE. I don't want to see this wonderful book destroyed in such a manor.

p.s. I'm sorry for the long message, i just have a lot of opinions
  12. sounds great! I'm really looking forward to the movie and the cast is cool too. I've seen the trailer;one word-AWESOME! Twilight is the best love story ever!!! It's the first love story I've read and it's the best!
  13. the books were amazing. i got so into that it only took me two days to read each book. i am sooo scared about the movie but i still can't wait to see it. all of my friends hate me right now because i have them hooked too.
i also think that if yo have not read the Host you definately should. it is amazing!
  14. Alright, let's get one thing straight- KRISTEN STEWART IS NOT PRETTY. ROBERT PATTINSON IS TOO GOOD FOR HER. I mean, please, Alexis Bledel would've been so much BETTER at the role of Bella then Kristen!!! Honestly..... The casting ppl totally stuffed up by casting Kristen for Bella. That is all.
  15. i am totally OBSESSED with the Twilight Saga- i can't wait until the fourth book comes out- and i am stoked for the movie to come out. i think that Pattinson is PERFECT for the role of Edward, and Stewart is a great Bella- exactley how me and my friends imgined them!! though- i am a little disapointed on the ages, they should be closer together so some can hope for some off-screen chemistry! and i am also slighty disapointed that Jacob Black is 6'7'' and the actor is 5'9''. but i guess Twilight fans can't have anything. they should AT LEAST make a movie for the four books (Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, Breaking Dawn) but IF it's possible that they can make the hopefully-realeased-soon-book Midnight Sun- Twilight the first book from Edward Cullen's perpective- into a movie thats not to similer to the exciting movie Twilight me and my friends think it would be great.

so, good luck to ALL the actors, directors, cameramen/women, and everyone else, ESPECIALLY Stephenie Meyer.
  16. BTW Desiree... the movie isn't going to kill it!! I mean- look at Harry Potter!! first of all, ALL of the books are going to be out before the movies so the sales won't drop. and plenty of people also watch the movie(s) THEN read the books, or vice versa. AND, when people see the movie, if they like it they will go read the other books because they can't wait until the next movie comes out. if the people making the movie didn't think that it would be a success, do you HONESTLY think that they would make it into a movie?!? and they ARE sticking to a lot of direct quotes from the book. if you think they are going to light, "her most beatiful peice of literature on fire" then the solution is simple- DON'T WATCH THE MOVIE!!! this is a page about the movie, so no one really wants to hear yours, or anyone elses whiny voice that the movie will stink. so next time, keep your overly critical responses to yourselves. :)

**sorry for all of you who were polite about not liking the movie, i meant to just address the one whos name i mentioned earlier**
  17. Edward didn't run OVER the trees; rather, he ran through the forest and NARROWLY AVOIDED the trees. DUH. that scene is going to be screwed up. And then in the trailer where Keaton and Robert (Emmet and Edward, respectively) stop in front of that car in the woods and Emmet says,"This is wrong Edward... She's not one of us!" WHERE THE #$%@ in the book did he say that? It really makes me angry that they have done some parts so well and other parts so choppy... But Stephanie didn't make it easy. Herculean efforts were required to make this perfection, so we'll have to wait until December 12 to see, hm?
  18. noo!! :'[

they haveeee to do the Port Angeles scene!!
when shes about to be reallyy hurt by some guys edward swoops in and saves her then he is all mad, then she finally guesses correctly, that he is in fact a vampire.
i really really hope they dont cut that part out! :'[
  19. um ok so she seems really excited thats good. but edward dosent tell her in the tree tops!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! he tellsa her Port Angeles are you kidding that is like one of the best pats of the book so im kinda worried about what the are gonna change and cut out! i will be VERY!!! disappointed like yall dont understand!
  20. I don't really like the fact that they are changing certain aspects of the book without a real cause. I'm getting a bit worried. I hope that this movie doesn't end up in the same group as Eragon (EEEWWWWW!). I would have had more faith in this movie if it were directed by a more accomplished director (I really didn't like The Nativity Story).

And I know that this doesn't have anything to do with the movie, but WHEN THE HELL is Bella going to turn into a vampire?! I'm reallllllly looking forward to see that transformation...:D
  21. Sorry, One more thing. I just have to say that Peter Jackson made The Lord Of the Rings an amazing movie based on a book that everyone thought was "unfilmable". I'm not saying that this movie is going to be anything close to that but there is NO EXCUSE to cut out vital parts that make up the story's soal and change the parts that make the novel lovable and interesting.

And going back to what a ceratin Victoria said...I really don't think that you should have been so rude to Desiree. This is a site where everyone can put there opinions and worries and get support from other fans. I really didn't appreciate how you were scolding practicallly everyone for saying what's on thier mind. Of course, I'm acting like a hypocrite right now but still...If you are going to be mad at her for putting bad thoughts up, don't put up your own.

And lastly, I know this sounds lame but I really hope someone reads all of these concerns. Probably no one has the time but it would make the movie so much better if the listened to us. Like how theonering.net is asking fans on thier opinions for the upcoming Hobbit movie. OOPS! I'm off topic again. Sorry for writing so much...No one is going to read this anyway though...
  22. what the hell?! tretops r u kidding 4 the Godand Every TWILIGHT FAN IN THE WORLD don't change the most amazing parts treetops may never replace the meadow let alone any other place. it sickning to even think about changing the storydont kill the anticipation
  23. ok the treetop scene is not in the book alice does not have brown hair Emmett doesnt have sraight hair and the preview sucks other than that im VERY excited :)
  24. OMFG!! theyre ruining the entire book i was looking at some scenes on youtube and there was not one that was followed the book!!!most of them werent even in the freaking book!!!GAH!!I'm so mad
  25. OH YEA AND ROBERT IS SO UGLY!!!! HE DOESNT FIT EDWARD AT ALL THIS MOVIES GONNA SUCK I MEAN WHY COULDNT THEY JUST FOLLOW THE BOOK THEY SAW HOW WELL IT SOLD OBVIOUSLY PEOPLE LIKED IT THE WAY IT IS!!!
  26. I think that the people who are making this movie should not torch this book. I don't want to see them totally missinturpret the meaning. LOTS of people want to see this movie to see how stephenie meyer thought about it when she wrote it. But now it seems like she isn't in control. Who knows what scene they're going to take out next?!?! I REALLY want to see this movie, and see it how stephenie meyer intended it to be seen!I just want to see a movie that turns out like the book! -cough- Holes.

p.s. Victoria, I don't think that you should tell people what to say and not say! It probably took aLOt of guts to write some of the things on this blog because some of them are REALLY critical. If you do or don't like what they wrote, you don't have to contradict them with your opinions. We have free speech, and we use it. Sue us!!
  27. Wow. this movie is going to maybe be a LITTLE off of the concept of the book. But i don't think that people should yell at the people about it. Hopefully, the directors know what they're doing......Hopefully. Well, U'm gonna be a hipocrit now and say what I think. This movie is going to be so different, I may just cry. I LOVE THE TWILIGHT SAGA!!!! Please don't kill it hollywood, PLEASE!!! If anybody working on the movie happens to see these comments, please take into concideration of how many people are commenting on one scene, and possibly change it. Possibly of course. But, then again, none of the people on here are award winnig directors, they just have really good opinions. But just remember how many people YOU know that have read the book......and know where you live.
p.s. Victoria, I don't think you should bag on other people's opinions. It's not your decision on how desiree feels. It probably took some guts to write something like that. And you may have some opinions that people didn't like too. But at least those people commented on the movie and not your post. Just saying.
  28. it will be good
  29. I think that Kristen was a great choice for Bella, and that Robert was a great choice for Edward, but I'm really, REEEEEALLY worried about how different the movie is going to be from the book, because I really loved all of the scenes in it! Especially the Port Angeles scene, and it doesn't sound like they're going to be adding that! And is Robert only going to be in one movie or what!? Cause it's really stupid if he is only going to be in one of the movies! I mean, seriously!!!! :(
  30. Whoever wrote that they better not leave out the meadow scene is just being plain dumb! Stephanie only came to write these books because of her dream of the meadow scene! How could they leave out the one thing that everything else's existence is centered around and on and about? Never gonna happen!!! And everyone should be a little more open minded about changes from the book to the script! There are some (few and far between) movies out there based on books that were as good as the book but didn't follow the book's story line to the letter -- The Shining was vastly different from the book but it was still a good movie that scared lots of viewers!!! Yes the differences are too often hard to look past for the book readers, but they don't always have to mean disappointment. Trust Stephanie's judgement a little more because she has already said that she watched the books unfold in her mind as if she were watching a movie, so I'm sure she wouldn't have trusted the script & the movie's direction to anyone who could stray too far off course from those original scenes she experienced as she wrote them. Watch the movie with an open mind and you might find yourself surprised that you love it because of the changes. Only time and 12/12/2008 will tell!!!
  31. i really don't like robert as edward. i think they could have chosen better but what the heck i'm excited!!!!!!!!!
  32. I understand that the script will indeed be rearranged, but what I can't understand is why. I'd say it's alright to cut out a couple scenes that are a little less important, but I would never allow somebody to take my book, cut out scenes, make new ones and then film them in totally different buildings than what they were described!
I know I'm being a little harsh. I'm satisfied with the cast (I would never be able to do better), but looking at how the filming has gone so far, and the trailers, I'm not too impressed.
Harry Potter was bad enough (I was in grade two, watching the movie and declaring the movie a fraud because of the cut out scenes. I shamed Harry Potter movies), but I will not approve of butchering my favourite series. I do not enjoy standing idly by, waiting for months on end to watch a movie that may or may not make my blood boil (wow. Nearly a pun).
  33. omgomgomgom *hypervenalates* kristen is gonna b great! the moive will (hopefully) be great!
  34. Pattinson is perfect in the clips I've seen so far. Couldnt be better infact.
  35. omgggggggggggg i cant wait to see this! i hope its really good. when i first heard the cast, i was a lil weary but i saw clips and stuff and now im totally convinced the movie will be AWESOME!!!
  36. OMG i seriously cant wait until the movie! I'm seriously counting the days. I'll go the day it comes out, with at least 10 friends, and I'm sure that I'll watch it at least twice in theatres. I think they chose the right people for Edward and Bella they seem to "click" on screen. I cant w8!
  37. At first I wasn't too sure at how Kristen Stewart was going to manage to pull of the roll, but after reading up on her in interviews etc. I now have no doubt in my mind that she will be perfect! And as for Robert Pattinson, I can't wait to see him in action. Not only is he absolutely stunning, but he has already proved himself as an actor. In fact, the only thing I'm dreading about the movie is the kiss! Bring out the green-eyed monster! But, as mentioned by others, I'm getting increasingly worried at how different the film will be compared to the books. There were some parts in Harry Potter, for example, that I could cope with, some I REALLY couldn't. Lets hope, for all our sakes, that the script writers stay as true to the books as possible, otherwise they will have a hoard of angry fans waiting with pitch forks. But still, role on December!!
  38. I think the movie will rock. At least they include the near-death experience in the school parking lot, the fact he can run fast, and so on. At least he's gonna be a vampire. LOL! I know. LOL! The cast is perfect.
  39. I am very excited for the movie's release. Kristen - you are the first person I pictured as bella. I watched a movie with you in it, then read twilight and you just fit right in. Now - robert you are perfect for the roll of edward. but I do have to say i pictured Hayden Christensen as him while reading - but you will work perfectly. I am happy with the cast. People are so stupid - crying about the movie cast. Watch they will go to the movie and come out LOVING IT as well as the CAST! I cant wait for breaking dawn, and the movie!

thx for the great happening! lol
    <33 katie.
  40. I'm really excited for this movie!! :)
I have a feeling they're going to change the book a bit... and I won't like it :P BUT, I'm going to try and watch the movie without comparing it to the book...
What you picture in your head, when you read the book, is your own perfect vision. Obviously the movie won't be like that. So I’ll have to try to watch the movie, and not think about the book.
I think the actors will do a good job, although, I think they have quiet a challenge :P
    Luck to them, haha
  41. So,i'm sure everyone here loves Edward Cullen as much as i do, but i also think that the book is almost to perfect to make a movie, you know ?
I think everyone thinks of edward or bella or the setting a little differently.
But i hope it turns out good.!
PS. ROBERT PATTINSON = SEXY :)
  42. i hope they stick to the books or im going to be so mad. i luv the movies and i know ill luv the movies but wuts up wit the treetop thingy and like i luv the port angeles scene that better be in there too. i cant wait and im still counting down the days to breaking dawn cause i cant wait to like figure how it all comes out. i also saw that breaking dawn is going to be like really long caues its the last book and theres alot of loose ends to tie up. i cant wait cause i really want a long book to read. i am a huge fan of harry potter but i think the twilight saga is so much better. i luv how they did the casting to and im glad roberts in it cause hes from harry potter and kristen is so great for bella. if u watch the videos and trailers and interviews you can so see them as bella and edward and like that there in luv. you can just so tell its going to work out in the end. yeah. i cant wait. BYE!!!!
  43. OMG!!!!!!!!!I LUV THE TWILIGHT SERIES. But as much as i luv them we can't except that the movie will be EXACLY like the book. C'mon 4 example: Harry Potter, Totally diffrent from the book 2 da movie
Lord of the rings, some parts were the same, some not, who cares?
As much as we ALL UTTERLY LUV THEM 4EV WAT the prob. Cant wait!!!
  44. JUST LUV DA BOOKS. Can't JUDGE da movie till its out. But Kristen totally fits da part!
