Kristen Stewart Wants A ‘Twilight’ Series That Sucks…In All The Right Ways

“Harry Potter” did it for wizards, “Lord of the Rings” won big for hobbits, and “Narnia” brought it home for the talking woodland creatures. But can a soon-to-shoot movie similarly turn the creaky film cliché of vampires into the next multimillion-dollar fantasy flick franchise?

“The movie is called ‘Twilight,’” 17-year-old “Into the Wild” actress Kristen Stewart beamed when we recently spoke to her. “['Lords of Dogtown' filmmaker] Catherine Hardwicke is directing it in Washington. It’s based on a book that’s pretty popular [among] young adult, high school kids.”

Although Stewart and co-star Robert Pattinson (Cedric Diggory!) will soon film only the first movie, they’re already talking about turning the vampire storyline into a series that really sucks. And since the latest book sold over 150,000 copies in its first day alone, Bella and Edward fans everywhere are already counting down the months until the film’s release.

“People really love these books,” said Stewart. “Right now it’s a trilogy, and a fourth book is coming out, so hopefully we’ll get to shoot all four.”

For those who haven’t yet been bitten, “Twilight” will feature Stewart as Bella Swan, a teenage girl whose life gets turned upside-down after she meets and falls in love with a vampire. Additional names will be cast in the next few weeks, but according to the actress, 21-year-old Pattinson is already sinking his teeth into the role of Edward.

“He’s so good and he’s so soulful and he’s just not a liar — you can feel pain from him,” Stewart cooed. “The cool thing about the story is that it’s a seemingly wonderful fantasy — let’s fall in love with vampires and live forever — but it’s so much harder than that. Imagine living forever. Living one life is hard enough.”

But don’t get fooled into thinking this is going to be “The Notebook” for the undead. “The main character is like, superhuman,” Stewart said of the action scenes in the script. “He’s a vampire, but with really [heightened powers]; he can run faster than a car can drive, and he’s super strong. He throws me over his back [in one scene], right before he’s going to tell me that he’s a vampire, and then he runs over the treetops. And we’re going to be in real treetops; we’re not just going to CGI it. We actually get to go up there, and that’s what I’m stoked on.”

“It’s a pretty triumphant love story,” Stewart concluded, looking forward to stepping in front of the cameras. “It’s gonna take a while, and it [deserves to be] at least a series of three.”

WTF? Tree tops??? Thats not even in the book at all! Now i'm starting to get nurvas here. I knew that they were going to take some things out..but putting thing in that should be there?!!! I hope this dosn't turn out to be like the Harry Potter films where the ruin the whole thing.

i think that it will be hard to satisfy all the people that love the book, but the casting was really well done, and i bet the movie will be amazing. Even if it doesn't follow the WHOLE plot it would be hard to #%*?~ up Twilight.

besides, hes not exactly supposed to tell her that hes a vampire, shes supposed to guess from what jacob says. the first time he runs fast is supposed to be in the meadow forest. and he never runs above ground...

i still will like the movie (hopefully...) because they can never make it perfect.

im not exactly mad cause like one person already said, its BASED on the book. its not THE book. although many of us would want that.

Why would Edward be flying on the top of the treetops?? Last I checked (and I've read all three books twice now) Edward doesn't fly he just runs really really fast. What about when he saves her in Port Angeles and the car ride home when she confronts him about being a vampire- is that out of the movie? (it's kind of a pivetal point in the first book don't you think?) I'm not saying I don't support the actors or the movie, but I just don't want to go see the movie and all the while I'm sitting there thinking, "that wasn't in the book, that didn't happen, where in the world did this scene come from?". These are the best books I've ever read and I just don't want to see any injustices made to them in the movie versions. Hats off to Stephenie Meyer though for an icredible job well done- I can't wait to read Breaking Dawn!

So I'm happy that they cast two actors who can actually act. But I'm worried that since this is hollywood they are going to change the whole book. I mean the book is great on it's own. And I know that they can't film every single thing that happens in the book but can you please stay true to the main plot. Not that running on tree tops isn't interesting but if they cut out the port angeles scene it will ruin the whole atmosphere to how he they both react when he confirms the truth to her about being a vampire. And I can't wait to see who they cast for Jacob and the rest of the cullens. It's so exciting!!

Am I one of the only people who think Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are going to ruin the movie? Like, it's not even just them, Catherine Hardwicke is going to ruin it too. Edward does NOT fly. I don't know what kind of vampires she's thinking of but the Cullen vampires do NOT know how to levitate at all. This isn't Tom Cruise in Interview with the Vampire people, this is TWILIGHT. God, doesn't Stephenie Meyer have a say in this at all? Does she not care that her books are being RUINED ?!

Running on top of trees? I'm so pissed! That didn't happen in the book! They better not cut out the meadow part, it like puts the book together. And the guy they picked, He's UGLY!!!!!!!!!! I think the guy that Stephenie Meyer wanted to play the part was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO perfect for the part. They better not mess this movie up because I will come and personally hunt the director down.

It feels really good to vent all of my frustration on this movie that they're ruining! If the director looked at these comments, they would change the scrip right away. So many people agree that this whole Edward flying is so retarded!!! I think everyone who is against this Edward flying like Superman should gang up and do something about it. God, this is so stupid.

Tree tops? Wow... Umm... I'm scared about how much they changed everything. I know it's going to happen, but it still hurts. =[ Anyway, I'm positive Kristen will do an AMAZING job. Have you seen what she can do with her eyes?! I'm telling you, just watch some of the films she has been in and look at her expressions!

I'm extremely happy to hear that both actors are getting close to their roles. =] That's what makes a good movie. Well, one of the things that makes a good movie. I'm excited about the changes, but I'm scared at the same time. Hopefully our Bella and Edward will have fun! =]

I really think that Robert Pattinson is not the right Edward. I know that when people see him in the movie everyone will be dissapointed. I know that when I saw the picture of him I was completely dissapointed. When I think of Edward, I think of someone who is a little bit smaller then Emmett and has an appeal to him that keeps your eyes and ears glued to him. Hopefully someone will read this and take my thoughts seriously.

Okay, what the hell. The absolutly CANNOT cut out the Jacob scene. It's like critical to all the books! And I never liked the thought of them making a movie of Twilight. The book is a masterpiece and the film will, in my opinion ruin it for everyone.

This film will just make it an ordinary vampire cliche, which it is not!

I hope the director sees all of these comments and realizes that if they #$$%@ up this story, there are a lot of fans that will be boycotting the next movie. Stephanie Meyer has done a great job with this story. They don't need to make this a total action movie to get people to go to the movie. They need to look into how many books have been sold to see what a tremendous fan base these books have already. Don't change the basic story or you will have riots on your hands.

I will go and see the movie, but it sounds like already that some stupid screen writer has taken one of the best books ever written and masacred it into absolute slop, so that with the exception of the characters it will be very nearly unrecognizable as the story we all know and love. A lot will depend on the director and his vision. I mean, look at the Harry Potter movies. Chris Columbus directed the first two and they were excellent versions of a timeless story. But the following movies were butchered into faint shadows of what happens in the real story. I understand that the subsequent books were longer and time had to be conserved for the features but too much was sacrificed! Too many major plot lines were left out or changed making the basic storyline something utterly different from the real thing.
Twilight is one of those books that should be preserved in film as close as possible to the real thing. It will not be the same otherwise!

I'm not so sure about this, its not going to be as good as the books, there is not running on treetops in the books, they run THROUGH trees not ON them. and what about Edward's mind reading, that's like crucial! and on that other website the movie one it says that james and laurent are the cullens arch enemies to begin with which they arent. I'm just sort of angry that this is going to be so messed up...although kristen stewart looks kinda like bella, i also dont think the actor who is edward looks right. i'm allready dissapointed in this movie that is definately going to suck. and not in the way they want it to.

the only way they WOULDNT mess up this movie is if they made it EXACTLY the same as the book. otherwise, its crap. they should just use the book as a script. and its true that no one will go to the second one if the first isnt good. im pretty much 100% sure that this movie is not going to live up to our expectations, or the amazingness of the book.

I'm really excited for this movie! Kristen and Robert seem perfect for the part. I don't think anyone should be this worried about the treetops though... i mean we have to actually SEE the movie before judging it right? i mean it may sound weird but i'm sure it will be cool. Also even Stephenie Meyer said that her story was in good hands with the director. I think that if the author feels good about it, then it won't be a disaster at all! Keep thinking positive!

I don't think they meant that Robert P. will only be in one movie. I think what the writer meant was that they are only filming one movie right now, but hope to make a movie out of the entire series. As in, right now they are only doing one movie. Idk, that's the impression I got. I'm so excited, but I'm sure us fans will have to have a "willing suspension of belief". ie: We'll have to accept that it will be different from the books and just hope that the story on film is good, even if it's not exactly the same. if you're going to do twighlight as a movie you have to do it right. do you know how many people have actually read these books? you cant change the things in the book to make it fit the movie! characters have to be perfect, edward is supposed to be EXTREAMLEY good looking, the guy you have picked out im sorry is not. and edward never was on treetops, he just runs fast! and he never TELLS bella hes a vampire she guesses i can already tell this movie is going to be exactly like a series of unfrtunate events horrible! so unless you change the entire cast and story to fit the book all the twighlight fans will be dissapointed.

Huh. So...I'm not to excited about that tree-top-scene...I mean...doesn't that seem kinda...exaggerated? that's just my opinion, and that might only be the case because I think they shouldn't change anything at all about the book - not invent anything or cut anything out - though I know that will probably impossible...

I have read the three books at least 10 times. I do NOT think that Edward and Bella should be on top of the trees. That messes the whole thing up. And like I have read where does Jacob come in?? She gets her suspicion from him and then at Port Angeles he confirms it sort of. They CANNOT cut that part out. And they should stick to Edward to running on the ground. How is he going to stay on top of the trees? I don't get it. I would be really mad if the movie is different from the book, that is what me and my friends have been dreading, that the movie is totally different from the book and it makes it seem horrible. I like that the actors have their opinions and are totally into this movie. If they turn this into a series though it would be better sort of cuz you could put the whole book into the series! I am excited and scared at the same time to see the movie come out and super excited when the book comes out. Everyone hope that the movie and book aren't that different!!!!
