“Funny Games” was a hit when the thriller came out in Germany a decade ago, and now the American remake is speeding towards the box office with a limited release date of March 14th. In the film, Naomi Watts and Tim Roth star as a vacationing married couple who are taken hostage by a pair of preppy psychopaths. Below, watch an exclusive trailer for “Funny Games,” preceeded by an intro from baddies Michael Pitt and Brady Corbet.

It mystifies me as to why Haneke would make an EXACT (and I mean literally shot for shot) remake of a film he made just 10 years ago. The only difference between to two are the actors and the language spoken.

it’s not at all mystifying coz Haneke said he was upset his previous film had not reached as many American audience as he would have wanted last time because of poor distribution and a language problem. He hope this new version with an english cast and a big studio backup would be able to achieve what he intends.

grimey, to haneke, you can take a stage play and present it in 30 countries around the world. the only difference being the language it is presented. it’s the same concept to him, except in this case, he’s presenting a film.
