‘Hulk’ Stars Give Thumbs-Up For Sequel Counterparts; Marvel Goes Red

Marvel's Red HulkOne Hulk, Two Hulk, Red Hulk, Blue Hulk — when is one Hulk not enough? When there’s going to be yet another movie version and a new comic version.

“The Incredible Hulk,” a reboot of Ang Lee’s 2003 take on “The Hulk,” isn’t upsetting the actors from the last go-round, at least not enough to cause any real tears. “Boo hoo,” said Sam Elliott, pretending to cry over being replaced by William Hurt as General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross. “That’s a little weird [to see someone take your part]. But I happen to be a huge Edward Norton fan, and I think he’s a great choice for the Hulk. I’m sure he’ll be incredible.”

Ditto for Jennifer Connelly, who played his daughter. “I love Liv [Tyler],” Connelly said of the next Betty Ross. “She’s a friend of mine and I’m so excited that she’s doing it and I can’t wait to see it. I love Ed [Norton] as well, and I can’t wait to see what Ed does with it.”

Still, Elliott wishes they’d have considered using some of the 2003 cast, “because I’d love to have done another one. But I’ll be looking forward to seeing this one.”

Meanwhile, fans of the original comic are looking forward to the debut of the Red Hulk, coming in January courtesy of Jeph Loeb and Ed McGuiness at Marvel. But who is the Red Hulk? “I can’t tell you who the Red Hulk is,” Marvel editor-in-chief Joe Quesada told us, “but I can tell you the Red Hulk is coming.” Come on, just a hint? After all, there’s a murder involved. “I can’t,” Quesada laughed. “I need your money.”

I’m just happy that they are giving The Hulk another shot in film form after the disaster that Ang Lee directed. Someone should have sat down with him and told him that no one will get that he is different sizes and different shades of green according to his anger level. No one cared, they wanted consistency and to see the Hulk smash stuff not all of the psychological repressed anger BS he served up.

The film should have set up how he became the Hulk and then switched to pursuit of the Hulk and action sequences. The Hulk looked good, the effects were cool and they had the right cast and still Ang Lee screwed it up. Edward Norton can really pull this off and Liv Tyler is a great casting choice as well. They should have had Sam Elliot back though.

Hollywood needs to really understand what made Batman Begins so successful. Take a superhero story and handle it in a realistic manner. What would the psychological make-up of the hero be? Why does he do what he does? What are his foibles? Treat the characters as if they are real; believe in the world that they live in and make it real to others. Just wait and see what John Favreau does with Iron Man, he gets it.

They should atleast make the new hulk 12 feet instead of 9 feet simply because he is giant beast 9 feet to me is to close to someone who might be 7 feet.

I may be in the minority, butI liked the first movie a lot.
And as for not knowing why he changed sizes, any old time fan would know that the angrier he became, the stronger he became.
Anyhoo, I’ll still go to see the new one when it is made.

The Red Hulk says “I” and uses guns. If you read the comics, he speaks with a human level inteligence.(sp?) I think he might be a freakin strong Skrull?
