“Justice League of America” – what in the heck would we do without it? With no less than seven major superhero roles to fill, the upcoming George Miller production is hands down the best and most fun flick to speculate about right now, with everyone from gangster rappers to movie comedians to MTV writers weighing in with their choices for who should be in the film.
And the whole lot of us are looking at it the wrong way, “Chasing Amy” director Kevin Smith insisted.
“‘Justice League’ feels like it’s an all-star movie to begin with and maybe they’re kind of wise to cast it with unknowns,” the director, who occasionally moonlights as a comics writer told MTV News. “It’s not like you can put Brad Pitt in it and he’s gonna be more important than f—- Batman. Or Superman. Like the characters themselves are the f—- stars of that movie. It’s tricky to cast those roles - give a bunch of people a break.”
Well, ok, not EVERY role needs to be used to give someone a break, Smith said. Read more…

The floppy-haired boy we first came to love in “Ten Things I Hate About You” and “3rd Rock from the Sun” has long since graduated to more adult material with flicks like “Brick,” “Mysterious Skin” and “The Lookout.” Next year, Joseph Gordon-Levitt will try to keep the momentum going by broaching a very sensitive subject, in the family drama “Uncertainty.”
“It’s about a couple trying to decide whether to keep a pregnancy,” Levitt explained. The story depicts two versions of the same Fourth of July in New York City, presenting alternative series of choices revolving around that thorny issue. Read more…

Who is the John Rambo we’ll meet in 2008? We’ll know soon enough when the new film hits in January but in the meantime, Sylvester Stallone has been kind enough to answer the question for us via email. Here’s his answer:
John Rambo is a withdrawn man who is finally at peace with himself because he’s checked out of civilaztion. He realizes and believes that war is natural and peace is an accident — and he wants no part of either.
As if that wasn’t enough, here’s an exclusive photo from “John Rambo” just for you! Looks like it’s going to be a rough day.

In a recent episode of “The Office,” oddball Dwight revealed a habit of stashing weaponry around the workplace, including such items as a crossbow, blow darts and a long sword. Such weapon training may prove useful for Rainn Wilson as he prepares for his upcoming role in “Bonzai Shadowhands,” a movie starring and being written by the fast-rising comedic actor.
Director Jason Reitman explains the flick as “the story of a reformed alcoholic ninja, and his relationship with a teenager.” He continued, “I describe it as ‘Midnight Cowboy’ meets ‘Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.’” But with more laughs, lest you worry that Wilson is suspending his comic forte to mount an Oscar campaign. “Every time I read pages of the script, it’s just the funniest thing I’ve ever read,” Reitman assured.
The “Thank You for Smoking” director, who features Wilson in a cameo for his new flick “Juno,” was eager to elaborate on Wilson’s training: “I don’t think he’ll be changing his physique [for ‘Shadowhands’], although he will be sharpening his ninja skills…he’s going to have to do his own stunts.” Read more…

Three years ago, we became acquainted not only with Abe Sapien and Hellboy, but also the red demon’s fiery girlfriend Liz Sherman. Now, as we inch closer to the July 11 release of “Hellboy II: The Golden Army,” Universal is debuting a first look at Liz (Selma Blair) in her return to action.
When we caught up with Blair recently on the film’s Budapest set, the most noticeable things about the character were her shorter hairdo, newfound reliance on weaponry, and relationship-forwarding decision to shack up with Hellboy. Together, they’ll be battling every monster that writer/director Guillermo del Toro can dream up, come next summer. In the meantime, keep checking back here and at the film’s official site for sneak peeks at Abe and Hellboy in the next few days!

Break out Black Beauty and get ready your masks!
Three months after promising MTV that his “Green Hornet” would be an “awesome action movie,” Seth Rogen is back with news on the 71-year-old superhero, confirming to our very own Josh Horowitz that he will indeed suit up in the famous green fedora.
That is, just as soon as he starts working out.
“You should believe that I can do some physical activity,” Rogen, the somewhat rotund star of “Knocked Up” laughed. “You have to believe I can do SOMETHING.”
The actor we’re most thankful for this past year, Rogen needs prove nothing to us – that’s how confident we are that anything this man touches turns to gold. So we were all ears when he wanted to reveal more details about this highly anticipated upcoming project. Read more…

“Marita Covarrubias was a serious girl,” Laurie Holden joked of her role as the popular double agent on “The X-Files.” “She never smiled. Not once!”

But just like Agent Mulder, the more we uncover, the more nebulous and complicated the truth seems to be. Read more…
