From MTV staffers to gangster rappers, if you’ve ever come within even 10 feet of a comic book, chances are you have an opinion on who should be cast in George Miller’s upcoming “Justice League of America” movie, and with that, high hopes for a franchise that will combine some of history’s greatest comic heroes.
Then there’s Mary Elizabeth Winstead, an actress who actually auditioned recently for the role of Wonder Woman. She’s just “trying not to get [her] hopes up,” the 22-year-old told MTV News.
“I was so excited [to audition]. It would be the biggest honor in the world to play an icon like that,” she enthused, looking like a child on Christmas morning about to be told whether or not she could open the world’s biggest ever present. “We’ll see. I keep thinking about all of the physical training I could do, bulking up and getting some muscles. I’ve never seen myself like that before!”
After Jessica Biel officially turned down the role of Princess Diana, several actresses have been linked to the role, notably Winstead, Teresa Palmer, and Shannyn Sossamon. Talking with MTV News two weeks ago, pop singer Christina Milan even threw her hat into the ring.
Everybody’s got an opinion. For her part, the “Live Free or Die Hard” and “Grindhouse” star says she’s just enjoying the debate.
“It’s funny because I didn’t really see anybody else [auditioning] when I went in, so I was learning along with everyone else all the different names,” she confessed. “It was fun to go on the message boards and see what people were saying, speculating on the rumors. I know they’ll make the right choice, and whoever it is will be great, I’m sure.”
In a weird bit of film trivia, Winstead actually starred alongside TV’s Wonder Woman, Lynda Carter, in 2005’s “Sky High.”
“I’m not sure if they’re even aware of that,” Winstead said of her casting directors. “But it is cool! I kept in touch with her a little after the film. It would be amazing, if I did get it, to be able to tell her.”
Winstead is a 5′8″, devastatingly attractive, long-haired brunette with serious talent: What do you make of her potentially playing Wonder Woman? And if not her, who? Sound off below.

If not Mary might I suggest:
Carmen Electra is the ideal actress to portray the amazing Amazon in the highly anticipated movie, super - heroine films as of late have not been very successful one because the characters are not as famous as Wonder Woman and two
the biggest actresses in Hollywood overshadowed their characters. She is known, but not as well as say Halle Berry or Charlize Theron or Jennifer Garner which makes her the perfect candidate much like Christian Bale she has a lot to offer. Her long dark hair, piercing blue eyes, and endowed figure mirror every incarnation of Diana. Electra is also a highly skilled martial artist, gymnast, and dancer which would allow her to perform the many stunts and be believable in the fighting scenes. She is the most gorgeous woman I
have ever seen and that beauty would only enhance her performance! Carmen actually CAN act, her work in Summerland, Scary Movie, Cheaper by the Dozen 2, Tripping the Rift, Starsky & Hutch has proven her talent time and time again!
Julie Strain, six - foot - one (& worth the climb), has expressed interest in the role. The amazonian beauty has appeared in countless action/adventure/sci-fi/fantasy films, inspiring the launch of a comic book style film and video game, the actress is no stranger to the genre. Mrs. Co - creator of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is currently enrolled in acting lessons for those skeptical of the “B” movie queen’s talents and she has an acting coach who assists her in preparing for roles. Strain is quite athletic in high school she ran track and played basketball. The real life superheroine is a trained martial artist to boot. And as if her height, talent, and athletic ability were not enough Strain is a pin - up queen which is enough to satisfy any fanboy!

Looks like you guys are going to want to take this post back — it would appear Teresa Palmer’s been cast as WW. Check Moviehole for details.

Carmen Electra and Julie Strain?…Wow. No offense man, but thank GOD that you’re not the casting director of this flick. But anyhow, Mary Elizabeth Winstead would be an okay choice for Wonder Woman. Out of all of the names that I’ve heard mentioned for the part, she’s one of the best. Although theres a rumor floating around that Teresa Palmer has landed the role. So who knows.

mary will be the best choice for wonder woman i really hope she gets it and now there has been news that teresa palmer is not on the list of the justice league cast but who knows we will just have to wait a few more days

Carmen Electra would be sensational as Wonder Woman!
October 27th, 2007 at 5:43 pm
Nina Fehren or Lorena Bernal
These 2 women are ideal candidates, they actually look the part, no contacts needed!

Winstead deserves this part becuase she knows how to act. She has already been in a super-hero movie, Disney’s Sky High. I could already picture Winstead on the big screen as Amazon princess Wonder Woman. Teresa is pretty, but she is a 4′3 midget, has blonde hair and she looks like a kid. This is not the movie for her. Mary, being atleast 5′9, is beautiful and should get the role. I’m a fan of hers, all her movies shes done an excellent job. Unlike, Teresa, who made December Boys also starring Daniel Radcliff, made it a bad movie. But Mary Elizabeth seems to know what she is doing and is a great actress. If she doesnt get WonderWoman the movie will probably be ~*?$.

It’s clear the director, George Miller wouldn’t have a clue what he’s doing and knows nothing about these characters!

It should be Mary Elizabeth Winstead because She’s high and has a strong body.Make up can change her.A teen-age girl to middle age woman. Look at her in Scream Awards 2007. She be change. We will use a new actress to make us believe. Mary is Wonder Woman. Like Jamke Janssen is Jean,Anna Paquin is Rogue,Halle Berry is Storm.

I prefer Mary Elizabeth Winstead over Teresa Palmer or any other. She deserves the role because Wonder Woman needs to start out as a rising superhero (M.E.W is a rising star) and Winstead has that “I can kick your ass but you’ll still admire me” quality. George Miller if your reading this MAKE THE RIGHT CHOICE.

If Teressa Palmer got this part over Mary Elizabeth, they must be on drugs. I’ll bet you that Palmer is jumping the gun. And don’t believe Moviehole as a good source. Clint has been known to print false info. So take it with a grain of salt. Mary would be a very good Wonder Woman. She looks the part, and she has the stature. You go girl.

Either Jennifer Love Hewitt or Megan Fox should be Wonder Woman. Click on my name to see who should be cast as Superman and Batman.
November 2nd, 2007 at 12:22 pm
Winstead should get the part because she fits it and because she envisions “bulking up” and getting fit for the role. Too many TV super heroes, like Buffy, have been cast with anorexically skinny or at the very least, weak looking girls. Millions of grown men to this day still fantasize about Wonder Woman because she introduced the idea of a woman who can kick ass. Linda Carter was no Jessica Biel or Cameron Diaz, muscle wise, but she was buff for her time and convincing. For this time, someone needs to be buff to be convincing. So, let’s see a hot hardbody who is hot and can act — there must be one and I think Mary Elizabeth sounds like she could get there.

Rena Sofer is the best candidate for Wonder woman.
November 6th, 2007 at 10:53 am
Dont get me wrong, Mary Elizabeth Winstead is hot. But she can be used elsewhere.

As I was watching her scenes with the original WW, Lynda Carter “Sky High”, I was thinking that Mary Elizabeth Winstead would make a great Wonder Woman. She’s great looking and can be cute and beautiful at the same time. She can easily play the flirtatious girl that everyone wants, and yet I can see her transform from a sophisticated Diana Prince to an athletic superheroine without missing a beat. She’s a great actress, and tall to boot. (5′8″)
Megan Fox would be my second choice, but I don’t think she can act as well and she is two inches shorter.
I think casting Teresa Palmer is a mistake, but some people actually liked Michael Keaton as Batman, so there is no accounting for taste in Hollywood, just who you know. At least it’s only the Justice League, maybe when the feature Wonder Woman comes out, that director can do a better cating job. Hey, Val Kilmer, George Clooney and Christian Bale were all Batman as well, so Mary Elizabeth, there is still hope!!

No to Fox. These Fox’s fans are very inmature individuals. Or at least they act like it.
March 15th, 2008 at 3:04 am
I love Mary Elizabeth. Shes just so gorgeuos and i would agree that she would make the perfect wonder woman.
March 27th, 2008 at 7:45 am
I love her too!!!
April 4th, 2008 at 1:55 am
In my own opinion Mary Elizabeth Winstead fits in the character of wonder woman because it is not hard for her to take over role and we know that in the Justice League Movie, we know that it is a fiction, superhero, action or maybe also a comedy w/c she already been in other movies including her. She already had many experience in this kind of movie so she can easily cacth up not like others that takes time before they can get it. if I was in the auditioning scene of Justice League i would probably say that they are wrong for rejecting her in this kind of character and they just wasted their chance that this one of a kind actress auditioned in the film, I hope you’ll agree w/ me
May 1st, 2008 at 4:13 pm
I think she would be perfect. especially if the rumors i’ve heard of other cast members. she would fit perfectly age wise, along with look and demeanor.
May 3rd, 2008 at 10:46 am
Mary Elizabeth Winstead would be sensational as Wonder Woman! Shes just so gorgeuos, I love her and colombia too.
May 12th, 2008 at 3:28 am
Mary Elizabeth Winstead is the right choice for the role. Hope she gets it!
June 11th, 2008 at 5:31 pm
Carmen electra would be perfect as wonder woman. not only is she extremely pretty but she is an excellent actress as well. her years of martial arts and gymnastic training would only enhance her performance. i think she is absolutely fantastic, and any true wonder woman or even DC comics fans would agree that on looks and acting ability she would be the perfect candidate for such a ground breaking role in such a talked about movie. she was fantastic in baywatch, i’m sure if given the chance she’d be fantastic in this.
July 2nd, 2008 at 3:30 pm
ya lo dije antes mary Elizabeth Winstead es la mejor y ninguna mujer se compara a ella.
(she was fantastic and I loved)
July 14th, 2008 at 4:12 am
Mary Elizabeth Winstead should be wonder woman because she has that hot, yet serious look. I love Megan Fox but she may be way too hot for the role, not that mary isnt as hot, she just looks a bit more like, i’m a hot chick but i will whoop your ass too, which is actually quite a turn on too. And honestly it cant be carmen electra, i;m sorry but nobody would take wonder woman serious if she got the role
