In 1997 two best friends got together with a plan to take-over their 10 year high school reunion.
Considering the timeline, we figured that might make it time for their 20th. So does Mira Sorvino.
"I would love to do another movie. [Co-star] Lisa [Kudrow] and I talked about it a couple years ago and we were really into it," Sorvino said of a follow-up to "Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion." "And the writer, Robin Schiff, was really into it. We might try to revive the idea because it does have a cult following. I'd love to revisit those characters ten years later."
Post THAT with your little notes.
In the first movie the pair had an existential crisis of sorts when they realized they weren't the people they thought they'd be ten years after graduation. They still aren't, Sorvino teased.
"I think they get the idea that they have to get married. I think that was what Robin's take on what the new story would be," Sorvino revealed of possible plot details for a sequel. "All of a sudden they realize they're not married! What happened? They have to find husbands and get married just like we had to get jobs and get a boyfriend and lose weight in the other one."
Would you like to see a "Romy and Michele" sequel? If so, does Sorvino’s idea tickle your fancy? Sound off below.
