“Back in Texas after fighting in Iraq, a young Marine (Ryan Phillippe) refuses orders to return to the war.”
Stop-Loss is not about The Marines. It’s about guys in the Army. There is quite a difference between The United States Marine Corps and the U.S. Army. To overlook that difference, even unintentionally, disrespects the very same men and women of this country’s military that our story was intended to honor.
Please correct this error.

I am grateful a film is out about the Stop-Loss issue. Many of us have been “Stop-Lossed” and sent back to Iraq after our contracts with the Army have been fulfilled. Some of us never came home. After having served my country for 11 years, it is shameful that we, as soldiers, are subject to imprisonment if we fail to uphold our end of our contracts with the US Government, yet it is perfectly legal for the US Government to not uphold its end of the bargain. We all accept and do what is required of us while serving our country. But when our “time is up” and “duty fulfilled” they force us back and demand more. Personally, I believe that President Bush, Vice President Cheney, and former Secretary of Defense Rumsfield, should be held personally accountable and legally charged for the death of every soldier that was deployed under Stop-Loss. We did our duty, now let us go.

I’m glad to see a different perspective of soldiers in the popular culture. It is not an easy thing to stand up to the military when you see something wrong. It is also not easy to tell your fellow soldiers that you refuse to deploy or redeploy with them. Before you judge a war resistor listen to what they have to say. I hope this film earns broad support and gets people thinking about what our brave men and women in the Armed Forces are facing on a daily basis.

My husband ended up in Iraq for 16 months 9 months after an 18 month tour to Kosovo because of Stop-Loss. We support this film and all involved! It is about time the TRUTH is shown! Great job to Kimberly Peirce and all who worked with her on this film. Thank you for allowing our family to be a (small) part of the mission to make others aware! We are excited to see the entire movie!
The trailer is awesome!!
October 19th, 2007 at 3:29 pm
Thank you for making this movie!!! My son is facing this problem, as I’m typing this up! He will be back from Iraq 1 year in December, and was supposed to get out next month; but, they are telling him now that because of stop-loss he may have to go back to Iraq for another 15 months. I hope this movie makes the general population of this country more aware of the terrible situation that stop-loss puts soldiers in that have served our country, and that have fulfilled their contract in the army. Keep up the good work!!!

As a soldier who has been to Iraq already, who quite possibly faces being stop-lossed, I am thrilled to see this movie being made. A HUGE percent of America doesn’t even know what stop-loss even is, and I am hoping this film can educate the people that this kind of stuff is going on today. The movie looks like it was taken straight out of my life. Both Texan soldier’s… both already served our country and did over a hundred plus combat missions, and when it comes time to get out, the Army takes that away from you. You face plagues of demons, mentally when dealing with stop-loss, the stress is unbearable, and I hope no other soldier has to deal with the this as well. You have SO many thought’s, and decision’s floating around in your head on what do do, and it feels like your drowning. No one on the outside can help you, and your trying to figure out what do to. I am very much looking forward to seeing this movie.

My son has been stop lossed. He was supposed to be out of the Army on July 6th but they are still holding him. He has to have surgery on his leg from an injury he sustained when he was in Iraq in 2005 but as soon as he has recuperated (2 weeks), he will be sent to Iraq. Thank you for bringing light to the fact that this country does have a back door draft.
October 20th, 2007 at 4:34 pm
I’m sure many people will not like what I have to say, but, while stop-loss is an unfortunate fact of military life, the provisions for it are disclosed on our enlistment contracts. I personally have been stop-lossed twice, and I was aware of the possibility before it occurred. The fact is, all soldiers signed a contract which included agreeing to being stop-lossed. It’s not the Army’s fault if any of us didn’t fully read or comprehend our contracts before signing.
October 20th, 2007 at 8:26 pm
To the above comment by Ryan. The ONLY way you could be stop lossed twice, is if after the first time of being stop lossed you foolishly signed up again and when it came time to get out you got stop lossed again.. I don’t pitty you if you made the same mistake twice. Once you are stop lossed and sent to Iraq, you come back, and after 90 days are up, you are out of the Army… IF you survive that is. You can’t get stop lossed within those 90 days again so don’t trick people into thinking that. As for what you said we read our contract, we should know about it… NO where… and I mean NO where in the contract is the words “stop-loss” in the contract. IRR (inactive ready reserve) is on the other hand, BUT it states at the time of WAR, soldiers can be switched from IRR to Active duty, which if you check we are NOT at war, this is a conflict. We never declared war with Iraq! The stop loss policy has been challenged nearly a dozen times in federal court, and it has yet been cracked. I only hope with this movie putting this dark out in the spotlight someone who knows how to fight it can and will beat it. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates, as one of his first acts in his position, penned a memo COMPELLING commanders to “minimize” the stop-lossing of soldiers. This was back of January of 2007 and yet I am as of right now stop-lossed. There has not been a SINGLE update to his statement in terms of any hope to lowering the use of it. This shows you just how corrupt the Government is. They give you a false hope and dangle it in front of you, that you might have a chance to escape the very place you wish to leave, yet in the end… it was all a lie. I got back from Iraq December 1st 2006, and I am supposed to get out this November 17th 2007. A month ago the Army changed my end date to June 9th 2009. So as of now I am stop-lossed, and am on but a thread of hope to have SOMETHING happen in congress to change this.
October 21st, 2007 at 8:46 am
DD Form 4/1, paragragh 9:
b. Laws and regulations that govern military personnel may change without notice to me. Such changes may affect my status, pay, allowances, benefits, and responsibilities as a member of the Armed Forces REGARDLESS of the provisions of this enlistment/reenlistment document.
c. In the event of war, my enlistment in the Armed Forces continues until six (6) months after the war ends, unless my enlistment is ended sooner by the President of the United States.
October 21st, 2007 at 6:11 pm
Again your just proving my point. No where does it say anything about stop-loss. Also it states that in the event of WAR… we are NOT at war. This is a conflict. It’s all corrupt lies.
October 23rd, 2007 at 7:31 pm
My son has also been stop-lossed and will again be deployed to Iraq for 15 months when he should be getting out of the Army after fulfilling his four-year contract. We hope this movie will make the public aware of the “back-door draft” and prompt some action taken to eliminate its unfair and deceitful use by the U.S. Army.
October 30th, 2007 at 12:20 am
Hey Ryan, maybe you get your jollies from defending the underhanded practices of our Armed Forces, but those people who have been stop-lossed don’t appreciate your recruiter’s point of view. And another fact: it is not very practical or effective to send people who are completely burnt out right back into a war zone
October 30th, 2007 at 1:14 am
I have been stop lossed and I have no one’s words, but my own.
Ryan is right. Not one of us bothered to read the contract to the fullest, but at the same time, how could we? The recruiters were speeding us up trying to get us to initial here, intial there, so they could hurry up and rack another one of us on the board.
But on the other hand, come on Lucas! You cleary need to take a college level English class. That contrat WE all signed basically says the government could do whatever they want with us: take our pay away, send us to a far away country, take away every right we all know as civilains, anything. So don’t try to get out of it by trying to become some political activist when you get your feelings hurt by the Military.
Think of it this way: at least you don’t live in a country where you HAVE to enlist in the military.
October 31st, 2007 at 2:09 am
I meant “contract”.
October 31st, 2007 at 2:48 pm
Try being stop lossed for 24-28 months which is how fubar my situation is going. Actually I did not foolishly run through my contract as you did, I asked questions if I didn’t understand it, or to be clear on something. When it came to the IRR section, he said you are signing up for three years twenty weeks, but you owe eight years total. Once you GET OUT, IF…. I will say it again. Once you GET OUT, IF they need you they will call you back… but that’s highly unlikely. Thats not the way it’s working though. I will not stand by and sit around and be stop-lossed. If you do nothing, you obviously have nothing going for your life to fight the stop loss. I however will fight it till the end.
November 6th, 2007 at 10:27 pm
I completely agree with Lucas. I am in the Army, however I have not yet had to deal with Stop Loss. Yet he is correct when it reads, “in the event of war” and if the US has not declared war, then the Army has no right to do what they are doing. I support the Army however, I was one of those people who read through my contract line by line, as the recruiter was standing over me getting pissed off. I really didn’t care. I know how the government works. The contract states everything clearly. I can not wait to see this film this Thursday. Our unit has been invited to see it and we all are. The truth should be spoken in any case and I support all those that contributed to this film.
As much as I support my country, I alo support justice, the law and the legality of contracts.
November 11th, 2007 at 6:22 pm
I’m glad a movie is being made about the Stop-Loss policy. I’m a U.S. army soldier. I’ve deployed three times already and will be affected by it later this year. I’m currently fighting it with a congressional. The policy is totally unfair. I served my country well just like many other soldiers. Recruiters don’t tell you everything. They lie and withhold information only to meet a quota every month. There have been numerous incidents with recruiters even harassing people to join on the news.
Its nice how some people who aren’t serving support this FALSE war. I want them to experience the acrid smell of feces and urine in the morning, Constant changes rules of engagement to , constant mortars, RPG’s, IED’s, small arms fire, sniper attacks, and EFP’s (explosive force projectiles)that go through even the new reactive armor on armored vehicles, the death of a loved one serving…with circumstances of it being covered up (i.e. Pat Tillman), being overtaxed, overworked, and underpaid, being led by the most inexperienced, incompetent and unprofessional leaders. Some who’ve managed to avoid all deployments after being in for 12,15, or 19 years!!!…and I’m talking about at the sergeant rank and above!!! Bush’s own daughters aren’t even serving. They don’t even serve time for the DUI’s and wild partying they do!!! Also that movie Farenheit 911 is not sold on ANY military installation. I wonder why…. I like the part when Michael Moore with assisstance of a marine tries to get members of congress to get their kids to join….
Lucas Theummel I feel your pain. You are not alone. I agree with you completely. There are thousands of us who’ve done are time and having are will, freedom, and choice of our destiny taken away. I’m fighting it just like you.
And for those who are in the service and disagree with me…sooner or later you’ll see and experience the *?*@#$#$, lies, deciet, and corruption going on about you as you serve. IT WILL AFFECT YOU. Will your thoughts be the same when you’re a victim of post traumatic stress disorder, a triple amputee, in debt cause your spouse cheated on you while you’re deployed and wasted all your funds, washing your battle buddy’s blood out of a humvee, or thought of being a corpse unaccounted for while the “insurgents” responsible celebrate in arabic ALLAHU AKBAR!!! (God is Great). They’ll post it on the internet without a care in the world.
What do you think of that stop-loss policy now!!!
November 12th, 2007 at 1:45 am
Yeah Jamard, I fully agree with everything you said. From Stop-loss to Pat Tillman. The Tillman case alone shows people just how dark the government truly is, and what steps it’s willing to take to cover itself. I saw on the news not too long ago, about a female soldier in Iraq being killed, and she told her family a week before, she found some secrets about the Army, and if she were to die, investigate it. I can’t believe this stuff happens. The Army preaches it’s core values… Duty… Integrity.. Integrity? Hah,I wonder if it ever carried any of those “core” values. Here’s my last thing I am going to say about Stop-loss. Who are you to judge a Stop-lossed soldier, if you have never been stop lossed yourself. This is one of those walk in our kind of shoes type deals. Maybe you need to be stop-lossed to feel what we feel? Maybe you truly won’t understand unless you get sent back to Iraq, stop lossed, and god forbid, have another chance to be killed, or have your limbs ripped off for a country who doesn’t want you there, and for a country who is so filled with corruption. Battle our demons, feel our stress…. you just might get more insight. So I say to all you corrupt officials, sergeants, and officers who judge us, who think we are dirt bag soldiers, who say “you signed up for this, blah blah blah” I hope when it comes time for you to retire and you have done your twenty years, and are ready to get out, the Army Stop-losses you, because you damn sure don’t follow the golden rule.
November 13th, 2007 at 2:53 am
Hey there Lucas, thanks for your response!!! It was very admirable for Tillman to turn down 2.2 million dollars to make 1,443 a month. He even had an opportunity to come in as an oficer but he refused. He was a well-known critic of the war during his first tour in Iraq saying its so ~@~*#?# illegal. A while ago I read on the internet that his death may have even been set-up by perhaps some officials in the Pentagon. After all most of those 4 Star Generals there had their start in the infantry. Those sergeant majors of the army and marines…..they were in the infantry. Even those that are chief of staff of the army…….INFANTRY!!!! Why I am I pointing this out??? Well Pat Tillman joined and became a Ranger. He became part of the 75th Ranger Regiment….a famous unit. Rangers are ELITE infantry soldiers. Killing the enemy is their chief profession. Some get a hard on for bloodshed for a necessary purpose. The legality or ILLEGATITY of this FALSE war is irrelevant to some of them. Thats why it did’nt surprise me when Bush made a lot of speeches at Ft. Bragg…home of the Special Forces and the 18th Airborne Corps. Soldiers NCO’s and offiers in attendence all came up and shook his hand after he just told them and their families there will be MORE deployments and they will continue for some time!!! Some hardcore infantrymen really pray and live to do their profession regardless of the circumstances behind it. But anyway getting back to what I was talking about earlier.
Tillman comes in as a Ranger. He was’nt ordinary. He was a sport celebrity that came in completed the rigors of Ranger training, deployed and now complained and crticized the war!!! I don’t think his infantry officers appointed over him were too fond of his opinions. Furthermore Rangers are ELITE infantry. How do you commit such a folly of FRACTRICIDE or friendly fire. There is just mainly hills, mountains and caves in Afghanistan!!! Plus POSITIVE IDENTIFICATION is highly stressed before you shoot at something. Its a shame really. His family heritage inspired him join, but the CORRUPTION thats so widespread throughout ALL the branches killed him.
What angers me the most as I’m serving is all the incompetent, inexperienced and unprofessional leaders appoointed over me. You now have soldiers with a lot of experience in combat and their job specialty being led by those who either avoided deployments all together and worked in an office and not performing their MOS, those promoted because of WHO they know NOT what they know, and those who just came in commisioned with a ~@~*#?# college degree. They can’t even wipe their own asses if you showed them an instructional video on how to do it!!! I’ve got so many stories of them getting soldiers lost in Iraq!!!
My MOS is a 92F A Petroleum Supply Specialist or in lamens terms a fueler. I’m the guy driving the big fuel truck on convoys…pretty ~@~*#?# dangerous!!! I was on a fuel mission with a Staff Sergeant who DIDN’T KNOW HOW TO OPERATE THE PUMP ON THE FUEL TRAILER OR ANYTHTING RELATED TO FUEL. She was also a 92F. She did know how to call up her Master Sergeant “friend” for some sex…her actual boyfriend was at another camp there in Baghdad!!! A lot of sexual relations go on during deployments but thats a whole nother story….
I was pissed with her since she didn’t know her job and I had to hook up the hoses and operate the pump and EVERYTHING!!! In case you were wondering she was goodlooking but all the way stupid. Last I remember she went to FT.Lee to be an instructor…but now transports wounded troops at Walter Reed Hospital. She’ll probably make E-7 soon. She maybe even one right now and I doubt its for “proficiency” at her job!!!!
Just one of the many things that vex me while I serve.
To all those that still may disagree with me and Lucas as far as our thoughts on the Stop-Loss policy and how its affecting us, other soldiers, their lives and most importantly their families, I want you to go to this website. http://www.militarytimes.com Scroll down and click on the tab “HONOR THE FALLEN” Look at the number of those who’ve given their lives. Click on the dates and look at their faces. Read where they’re from, their unit, where they died, how they died, and in some cases their deaths still under investigation. These are mothers, fathers, sons & daughters, extended family members, spouses, lovers, enlisted, warrant, and commisioned from all branches and walks of life young, old and those in their prime. What intrigues me the most is the MANY MANY MANY young faces on there. These soldiers most of them fresh out of basic training and AIT dying. I’m almost in tears as I read about how they died and who they leave behind if they have families or not. They did not even get a chance to LIVE THEIR LIFE and they are dead…gone forever…
If only you can imagine the loss of someone from this FALSE war. Death is a part of life. But these lives are being taken before they can be lived, enjoyed, or concluded cause of this FALSE war. I wonder if Bush even fakes those tears when he speaks to the parents of deceased soldiers from this FALSE war. He’s probably enjoying the company of his children too much to care.
Like Lucas Thuemmel mentioned about those who say “you signed up for this”…I say no. I was already in before 9/11 and this FALSE war. Michael Moore could do a mini-series on all the corruption in the armed services especially the Army. I’m a soldier. I’ve been deployed. I hate this Stop-Loss policy. I don’t care at all what my superiors think of how I feel especially since I know more than them and have more experience than some of them. And for those who think I don’t have the freedom to speak out you are wrong. I serve to preserve a freedom you all take for granted…that you try to take away from those who serve to protect it. This Stop-Loss policy is vexing a lot of soldiers especially veterans. But another thing that is not reported is all those who survive and are permanently handicapped mentally or physically and recieve hardly any care or none at all. Once again check out that website http://www.militarytimes.com and click on “HONOR THE FALLEN”
In conclusion I say again…WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THAT STOP LOSS POLICY NOW!!!
December 4th, 2007 at 1:03 am
I am a soldier and i am stoplossed.
I really hate it. My contract is supposed to end in April but they want me to deploy instead.
I will go and do my 2nd deployment. But I will hate every bit of it. Im just an angry soldier at this point. This war is going nowere. Pray for us.

Hello,
My name Daniel Roman I was born and raised in sw Miami. Soon after I graduated high school I joined the U.S. Army and was immediatly sent to iraq. After completing one tour over seas I was sent home. One year later I was stoploss and sent back overseas to serve a second tour. I just wanted to say ever since I came back from my second tour and I have been desperatly trying to have people understand what the life of a soldier is like and what we went through. I don’t believe that they will truly understand. When I saw the trailer to this movie I got excited . I hope through this film maybe the people of this country will understand a little bit more on what us soldiers have to go through. Take care and I can’t wait until this film comes out.
Respectfully,
Spc.Daniel Roman

I don’t know if this has been stated already, but I just want to clear up the Stop-Loss policy. People have this idea that you sign up for FOUR years when you join the military. However, it clearly says in your contract you are committing for EIGHT years. Four active duty and four more inactive reserves. If you aren’t ready to make an EIGHT year commitment, don’t join the military. I don’t know why people believe it is a four year commitment. Probably the Army recruiters lying. When I joined the Air Force, I was clearly informed of the policy.

To the 92F serviceman, I agree with some of the things you said but you are totally wrong about Pat Tillman. Granted he was a hero for giving up his “freedom” to serve our country. He is not a hero because he was making millions of dollars and gave it up like you and countless others have pointed out in the past years. There are thousands of heroes nationwide that made that same sacrifice but most people only recornize Pat Tillman because of the $. It’s not about the money, it’s about the sacrifice. Im my mind he is a hero along with every other soldier who gave up their “freedom” to fight for the U.S. I too was in the Infantry and yes those are the soldiers we should be recognizing the most. I got out right before the Iraq war started but would have gladly served not for the validity of the war but for my comrades. Soldiers I trained and served with died over there. They are heroes just as much as Tillman is. More so for me because I actually knew them and served with them.
And to the Airforce person, when you have lost many of your comrades from your squad and platoon then you can bicth about soldiers bitching about stop loss. But if that does ever happen im sure you wont then cause you’ll be feeling as pissed as they are, rightfully so.

If you served in our military since September 11th 2001, and have a problem with the occupation of Iraq please join Iraq Veterans Against the War.

To Air Force Derek
First off, when you join the Army you can choose any where from 2 to 6 years for your first enlistment. What you are saying about the 8 year commitment is true, however for that to be in play you would first have to be let out of the army and then called back up to serve again from the reserve pool. This is paragraph 10 on the enlistment form. The army is holding people on para. 9 sub-section C, it states that the military can hold you 6 months after a war is declared over. Or at least thats what I’ve understood from some national guards mens legal battle, since the army dosnt tell you anything they just change your ETS date.
Secondly I wouldn’t guess an Airman with ZERO time on the battle field, that has never been stoplossed would be that upset about it.
January 30th, 2008 at 11:14 pm
First off I want to thank GOD getting me out of the stop-loss!!! I’m a free man now!!! If you are a servicemember fighting it don’t give up!!! All things are possible through GOD!!!
To Jose Obando, I appreciate your reponse. I was however, totally RIGHT about Pat Tillman!!!. I never said he was a hero for passing on 2.2 million dollars. I said it was ADMIRABLE that he did.
Furthermore: 1. His family heritage in the military inspired him to join. He even talked about doing so in an interview on T.V. 2. His base pay was $1,443 when he enlisted and came in as a specialist cause he had a bachelor degree. He was posthumously promoted to corporal. He could’ve came in as an officer but refused and enlisted with his brother. 3. Pat Tillman was critical of the war during his first deployment saying its “so ?*$$### illegal” Pat Tillman even had conversations with the Arizona Cardinals about coming back to the NFL for another contract offer. 4. Pat Tillman’s death WAS A COVER-UP!!! A three-star general in RETIREMENT was about to or already has lost a star affecting his pension because of it. It was very sad since there was a T.V. special for Pat Tillman while everyone thought he was a K.I.A. However, after frequent and tireless inquiries by his father…his death was caused by FRIENDLY FIRE. 5. Pat Tillman’s diary and body armor mysteriously went missing after his death. 6. He was with the 75th Ranger Regiment.
DO YOUR RESEARCH…..GOOGLE HIM You’ll see I was right about him.
You are TOTALLY WRONG about saying infantry soldiers should be recognized the most. What about the Blackhawk pilots who medevac you to recieve aid or drop you into postion to assault the enemy. What about the Kiowa Warrior, Chinook, Apache, C-130 and gunship variants, and C-5 Galaxy pilots. They all risk and have been shot at with RPG’s, Rockets, and SAM’s(surface-to-air missile) on a daily basis. What about medics who await casualties to come in whether they are dead or alive or medics riding in a convoy who may have to suppress fire or provide first aid during incoming fire!!! What about mortuary affairs soldiers who prepare the remains for burial. How about 92A’s, 92Y’s, and 89B’s. Parts, supplies, and ammo. Your infantry would be infants without them. How about 19K’s commonly known as tankers. There the ones you call when you need some extra firepower downrange. They risk a rollover in to a ditch or being trapped and burned alive inside the tank. There is stuff now that goes through even the new reactive armor they have now!!!
Finally and definitely not least my MOS…92F Petroleum Supply Specialist. I wish you’d do my job driving down the road with 5,000 gallons of fuel running the risk of getting hit with all types of enemy fire, IED’s, VBIED’s, and EFP’s. Or…how about working at a 120,000 gallon fuel farm and suddenly mortars start raining down on you. Everyone from your infantry to DOD civilians come crying to me for fuel all the time….even during after hours when I’m sleep!!!
In conclusion, ALL soldiers from ALL ranks and MOS’s risk who are put in harms way including Pat Tillman are heroes. They ALL deserve to be recognized including servicemembers in the navy, marines, airforce, and DOD cicivilians who provide vital suppport….not just your infantry soldiers!!!
Jose you mention that you got out BEFORE the Iraq war started. I served 2 tours in Baghdad alone. Bush lied about “success” in Iraq. The only “success” is this war being continuous. The defense contractors and oil companies owned by Bush and Cheney are profiting greatly from our deaths.
You say you’d serve over there for your comrades. Will you serve when your buddies get blown up one day and the rest get kidnapped the next day??? Would you deal with incompetent leadership with no combat experience??? Could you handle a commo blackout for days, weeks, even months while the top brass talk to their OWN loved ones!!! Be glad you didn’t serve a day in this Iraq War.
One story that isn’t told is the mentally damaged and physically handicapped soldiers who return and recieve little or no care at all while the terrorist held up at Guantanamo Bay recieve universal and better health care than EVERY American and servicemember in the armed forces.
Do you know about the $700,000,000 million dollar U.S. embassy being built in the “green zone” area in Baghdad??? Thats something Bush doesn’t mention at all. Something to think about Jose Obando…

I suppose you mean republican as (conservative) and am guessing you are a democrat (I could be wrong). Ever hear of “Internationalism”, do you know Obama wants to increase the military by 100,000?? Are you aware that Obama, who will probably be our next Pres., provided he’s not caught with a live boy, or dead woman in his bed, has Samantha Power as a foreign policy advisor. She’s a strident interventionist.
Imperialism is WRONG, wether it is implemented by republicans or democrats.
As for stop-loss, like the Marines say, U Signed the Mother F-cking Contract. I don’t think we should be in Iraq and I don’t belive we should be nation building in Afghanistan, did 2 tours there, but if Uncle Sam gives me orders, then I’ll go.

Two tours in Afghanistan….way too easy. Try Baghdad twice. A city thats part of the deadly “Sunny Triangle” of death. As far as the stop-loss google “honor the fallen”. I doubt you’ll hold on to that f-cking Marine mantra “U signed the mother f-cking contract!!!

I am so tired of hearing our own citizens blame current issues on the president pertaining to war. I hear people say to me all the time this and that about the president and how they just want our men home. Well I do to. But we all face a reality that with war or without war deployment will always always be a necesity. It doesn’t matter who is in office So instead of people saying that they are going to stand behind our troops by bashing their command and cheif why don’t you pay your respect by using that same energy you all have to complian and bash to maybe remember our men and women. I am not in support of the war in iraq but I can’t stop it. I am not a huge poltical activist and I tend to steer away from politics. But one thing I will say is that it is and forever will be the hardest job the world will ever face. So instead of judging I think we owe respect. You don’t have to like the party you don’t have to like the war but you can at least respect the man who is trying his best (even if you don’t think it is sufficent) and the men he is leading the respect the deserve. The military is a corportation in a big picture. And when you think about all corporations have their falls. All leaders make mistakes. The military is no difference. So as an army wife I’d like to take you into a look in my life and tell you that all this fighting between my own fellow citizens depresses me and makes me think that it isn’t the war that makes me miss my husband even more but the disrespectful torn apart country that my husband is out there fighting to defend. The sick thing is that media and politics is what is tearing this country apart. Every single president who has even been in office has been a victim of media explotation. Or bad advising. But instead of the American people supporting their president and their military when they are giving it their best we tear them down. We are not a united states we are a very very divided country and a civil war is about t break out amongst our own people. it is really sad. And I wish my family wasn’t fighting for this flag anymore because their life, their destiny, isn’t worth protecting a country who doesn’t even see the need.

Show respect to Bush….HA! HA! HA! You are blind as f-ck to EVERYTHING that has occured cause of that idiot in the white house. Haven’t you paid any attention to lies that were exposed for starting this war? Did the generals who turned down promotions and retired give you a clue? Did you know Bush tried to reduce danger/hazard pay soldiers recieve when they deploy? How about sending troops to battle with no armor? It wasn’t until a soldier stood up to Rumsfield that they got all the armor they needed. He doesn’t even care for veterans…especially handicapped ones. OPEN YOUR F-CKING EYES COURTNEY!!! Don’t be depressed that the country isn’t in harmony with Bush. Do research, listen to them, find out and understand why. Soldiers are also complaining. Americans are supporting their troops…thats a good thing. Tyrant Bush isn’t. You know that 515 billion dollar budget he proposed sucks money from NECCESSARY civilian programs to fund this FALSE war. Google “honor the fallen” read about those soldiers on that site. Go watch Farenheit 911. THE SOLDIERS NEED TO RETURN HOME NOW!!! Do researh and discover why everyone is blaming Bush for problems pertaining to this war. You’re a military spouse…I’m kind of surprised you’d say such things and be totally unaware of WHY PEOPLE HATE BUSH!!! I tell this Courtney…don’t believe everything they tell you at those FRG meetings!!! Seek the truth…

I have the utmost respect for the USMC and have had the privilege of fighting alongside them as an army infantryman in OIF 1, but that whole “suck it up, stop loss ain’t so bad, you signed the contract” attitude would probably change if Marines did 12-15 months in country versus 7 months. IF a Marine were stop-lossed or IRR recalled, your involuntary duration is FAR FAR shorter than a soldier’s. We’re all in the fight together, but think about it.

McGrunt, you’re definitely right. I am a Marine facing recall (another f-cking sh-tty situation). Trying to be extra hardcore and saying you’d gladly do it again is all $@#*~?~?. I for one hate this sh-t and cannot wait until this whole Iraq situation is cleared up. I feel for all of you. I personally have done two tours and am now trying to go to college. But its not fair to be able to get out, start a new life and then have to give it all up because of what they need. Makes me feel worse for my mom not having money so that I didn’t even have to join. And to think we all thought we were doing right thing….Probably had a better chance selling crack on the corner…

To all those being affected or will be affected by the stop-loss FIGHT IT!!!!!! I started fighting mine before it happened. I’m a free man now courtesy of God. I fought it by writing the SENATOR of my home state. In my case it was Bill Nelson. I’m now leaving to work for a truck company. Had I not did a congressional I would’ve been suffering a 15 month deployment in Afghanistan with my old unit. Its never too late to fight it regardless of what branch of service you are or even if you are deployed or not…DO A CONGRESSIONAL AND FIGHT THE STOP-LOSS!!!!! I just didn’t feel like doing deployment number 4!!! Besides why risk your life for over lies…..

I saw this movie Thursday night with my wife and we really liked it. There were only two other parties with us in the movie, a group of young guys and a group of young nannies (from Germany I think). So unfortunately I don’t think as many are seeing it as I would hope.
