With news last week that Jim Broadbent had signed on as Hogwarts Potions Master Horace Slughorn, one of Harry Potter-dom’s last, great roles was officially filled.
Fans aren’t crying any tears over the casting — although we wouldn’t have chosen him, we have to admit he’s spot on — but consider the plight of poor Simon Pegg, the man who would love to be in “Harry Potter”…if only they would let him.
“I haven’t done my stint yet. I feel like I’ve been left out of a massive club,” he sighed. “It’s like every actor in Britain worth their salt has played a wizard or a muggle.”
Give Pegg credit: he’s clearly well above O.W.L. in his knowledge of the wizarding world. So given his choice, which character would he want most to play?
“I always wanted to play Professor Lupin,” Pegg said, quickly adding, “which [of course] David Thewlis does brilliantly. [Unfortunately] I can’t think of a character now that I can play in the ensuing books.”
Oddly, Simon, we CAN. Should they wind up filming the epilogue from “Deathly Hallows” (and, Merlin’s beard, please don’t film the epilogue) why not Pegg as a 40-year-old Ron Weasley? Especially since that would make Nick Frost a 40-year-old Harry Potter.
Is there a way you could think of squeezing Pegg into the Harry Potter universe? If so, where? And can we finally start being honest about the epilogue yet? It’s terrible right? Sound off below.

I dont see why they shouldn’t film the epilogue, even if it was extroadinarily annoying for me… but Nick Frost is just pushing it people!!!

Oh, it’s ABSOLUTELY pushing it Onyeka. It’s just that that’s the type of incredulity the epilogue deserves.

Maybe with a little (ok, a lot) of make-up and costuming he can play Dumbledore’s brother in book seven.

Put him a fat suit and he can be Ted Tonks.

Interesting fact: In book 5, Harry receives a letter from Mafalda Hopkirk,a ministry worker who is never seen. In movie 5, this letter speaks, and Jessica Stevenson does the voice. And in part 7, Harry, Ron, and Hermione have to sneak into the Ministry of Magic disguised as employees. Ron and Harry choose two random workers, and Hermione chooses Mafalda. Since Jessica Stevenson might play the character in the flesh, they should get Simon and Nick Frost to play the other two guys. So we’d get Jessica, Simon, and Nick playing Hermione, Ron, and Harry in disguise.

Totally honest about the epilogue? I loved it. It’s perfect. And Simon Pegg as an older Ron Weasley? No thanks. They need to use the same actors–Dan, Rupert, and Emma. With makeup and CGI, of course they can make them look 19 years older, please! Oh, and Simon–you’re not the last actor in Britain NOT to be in an HP movie. There are plenty still who have not been asked. Get in line.

The epilogue was disappointing. Do people really see Hermonie and Ron together? Please!!!! She would be bored with him in a week. Harry would challenge her so much more. There are still several characters Simon could squeeze into, but, it probably won’t happen.

I think he could play Xenophilius “Xeno” Lovegood. He is a funny character and I think Simon could pull it off. We also has a big part in Deathly Hallows.

One of the older Weasley brothers

The epilogue was completely pointless and ridiculous to read and I hope it isn’t in the movie, but if it is, I would love to see Simon Pegg. It would make that chapter better if I could imagine Pegg in it.

He’s perfect to play one of the older Weasley brothers.. Or any member of the Weasley family for that matter.. Think about it - The Wonder Twins (F&G) had to get their humour from somewhere right? What better place then from the demi god that is Simon Pegg?
Bonus: All three of them have that mischievous glint in their eyes
