It will be five films in a row for the collaboration that is Wes Anderson and Bill Murray. I talked to Anderson about his upcoming animated flick based on the Roald Dahl story and he confirmed his voice cast. “George Clooney is going to be Mr. Fox. Bill Murray has a part. Jason [Schwartzman] is doing a voice. That’s our team,” he told me.
But don’t line up at the multiplex just yet…this one is still a long ways off. “It will take a couple years to do the animating,” said “The Darjeeling Limited” helmer, adding that they are about to record the voices. As for the animation, “It’s stop-motion. It’s like ‘Nightmare Before Christmas’ or those Christmas specials. These [characters] have fur, so it’s not like claymation.”
It sounds like Anderson will make this one quite unique (big surprise). “The settings will be very natural. We want to use real trees and real sand, but it’s all miniature,” he said.
Any other die-hard Wes Anderson fans out there? What do you think about the prospect of him taking on an animated flick? Sound off.

I remember seeing this project listed on IMDB years ago, long before the Darjeeling Limited even poped up. Glad to see this is finally going to get on the move.

As did most, I loved Hotel Chev… but found darjeeling requiring a second viewing before I decide whether I like it. Of course, amazing imagery.. phenominal soundtrack.. fantastic dialogue.. unbelievably rich characters.. but the story overall left a little to be desired after the first viewing (opening weekend). I’ll watch it again).
Anyway.. so I’m a little skeptical now about Mr Fox.

When i first heard about the production of this film thinking it was the next to come after Life Aquatic I was bonerifically excited due to the animation used is Life Aquatic i can say i have all faith in Wes to put together a great animated film using stop motion primarily as well as whatever other forms he is going to use.

Wes Anderson’s films have all in one way or another, for lack of a better term, “floored me”. Each is a masterpiece in its own sense. Rushmore and The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou are my current favourites, and when I heard the words ’stop- animation’, ‘Bill Murray’, ‘R. Dahl’, and ‘Wes Anderson’ all in the same sentence, I was overjoyed. Let’s hope he keeps up the good work [he’s 5-0 right now].
With any luck it’ll be easier to interpret than The Darjeeling Limited. I too had to watch it twice to decide whether or not I liked it. But in the end I warmed up to it [you gotta love Jason Schwartzman.

This is as awesome as Spike Jonze doing Where the Wild Things Are…but I think he’s had to re-cut or re-shoot the whole movie. I think it’s because the movie scared all the children during the test screenings…IT’S GOING TO BE AWESOME!
