Leonard Nimoy nearly wasn’t succeeded by a “Hero” but instead by “The Pianist” himself, Adrien Brody. We all heard those rumors months back that the Oscar-winner was up for the part of the most famous Vulcan this side of Sarek, and now the man has confirmed it.
“I did talk to J.J. [Abrams] about that,” he told me today. And shed a tear for Mr. Brody, because he sounds kind of bummed that he missed out. “That would have been cool. I told my parents. They got a kick out of it. ‘I may be Spock!’ Oh, well. Could have been cool.”
So did he do the famous live long and prosper salute for J.J. to try to get the part? “No. Didn’t do it. Maybe I should have. Would have had a better shot at the role,” he sighed. (Watch our full-color video of Brody talking about his “Star Trek” near-miss after the jump!)

Paramount again is messing up Trek.
So far they passed up Matt Damon, and Adrien Brody and Daniel Craig.

This is tragic, he would have made a great Spock…. Perhaps he can be another vulcan in a future movie or series?

Adrien Brody’s acting abilities are super-superb, a deeply and highly talented guy. I’ve seen him in The Jacket and Dummy,and The Village, and naturally, The Pianist. I feel that the people involved in the Star Trek film just can never find a finer actor than Adrien Brody and the 1000% the part should be his. Thanks very much.

I like Adrien Brody and he may have been good, but I think Zachary Quinto is perfect for Spock. I think J.J. made a great decision and it’ll be good.

With the poor showing of the last couple of projects, a big name may be the smarter route. Damon and Brody as Kirk and Spock! How cool could that be!!?
