Weigh In: Who Should The Rock Play In ‘Shazam’?

The Rock Captain Marvel may be charged with protecting mankind, but that’s nothing compared to being charged with finding the right actor to fill his heroic tights.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson told MTV News he was in discussions to play both Captain Marvel AND the villainous Black Adam in the upcoming superhero flick “Shazam,” and he’s calling on fans of the character to chime in with their picks.

“It’s up to the fans,” he told me repeatedly when I interviewed him this past Saturday.

So we’re opening up the floor to you. Do you think he’s right for either role, and if so, which one? It’s all yours to decide. But, remember, to borrow a turn of phrase from another superhero, “With great power comes great responsibility.”

I like Dwayne's suggestion to have him play both roles by first portraying the original Capt. Marvel until the Wizard punishes him and makes him into Black Adam then have someone else play the Billy Batson Captain Marvel. The Rock definitely looks perfect to play the role of Black Adam and he already has the ability to play the villian as we all know from his Pro-wrestling days. I think this would be great casting.

Captain Marvel. I think one needs more acting chops to play a truly deliciously evil villain. I like the Rock, but I don't think his acting skills are there yet. Plus, he is so darn likable --- more a Captain Marvel type

BOTH!!! Especially after "The Game Plan." It'll be like Jet Li's "The One." I think it would be good. If he does only Black Adam, then who plays Marvel??? If he does Marvel, then who does Adam??? It'll just be easier on everyone involved if he just does both!

I'd say he'd be better suited for Black Adam...not only because he has the right physique for Black Adam's black suit and to look right exemplifying his powers, but also because he has the face to match the dark tones of Black Adam's character.

Black Adam all the way for sure. He does look alot like the villian, i just can't see him play beloved superhero that we've all known for so many years. But if he does get that part to play the hero then he should do that part very well or if he doesn't than it may end his acting career. But he definitely has all the portrays of the villian and he can play villian roles very well, so i think he should play Black Adam.

But here's are 2 questions: if Rock plays Captain Marvel, who'll play Billy Batson? And who'll play Mary Marvel? Remember: in the comic books, and cartoon, they're brother, and sister!!!

Sometimes it is hard to admit but I just effing love the Rock's movie career. If I had to weigh in on a purely visual level i would say Black Adam, but as far as playing to the Rock's strength as an actor I would say Captain Marvel all the way. I wanna see the rock give the ol' cheesy million dollar superhero grin with the ridiculously chisled jaw line. I believe him as a good guy moreso is what i am trying to say I guess.... A starring role in a Superhero movie is pretty boss in any event.

The Rock - Shazam (Captain Marvel) more chances to do sequels if the first is successful. Furthermore he can play an older version of Billy Batson's father, who dies in the comic book series.

Obviously he can play either Captain Marvel or Black Adam, but personally based on his acting ability and appearance I think he is better suited to play Black Adam. I think if the script is done properly it can definatley be a challenge for him as an actor. But please dont get me wrong he would be great as Capt. Marvel too, but I would like to ssee him as the bad guy.

The Rock has the chops to play both characters without a doubt. Due to his size however, I'd prefer seeing him as Black Adam. No matter who plays Captain Marvel, if we look at The Rock playing Black Adam, we are going to worry about how well Cap is going to fare when going up against him. You don't want to watch a flick like this where the villain is a pushover. Make Black Adam Goliath and make Captain Marvel David.

I'd love to see The Rock play Black Adam. He's shown that he has the talent and range in films like The Rundown to bring the conflicted, frightening antihero known as Black Adam to life.
