Weigh In: Who Should The Rock Play In ‘Shazam’?

The Rock Captain Marvel may be charged with protecting mankind, but that’s nothing compared to being charged with finding the right actor to fill his heroic tights.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson told MTV News he was in discussions to play both Captain Marvel AND the villainous Black Adam in the upcoming superhero flick “Shazam,” and he’s calling on fans of the character to chime in with their picks.

“It’s up to the fans,” he told me repeatedly when I interviewed him this past Saturday.

So we’re opening up the floor to you. Do you think he’s right for either role, and if so, which one? It’s all yours to decide. But, remember, to borrow a turn of phrase from another superhero, “With great power comes great responsibility.”

I think he should play Black Adam. He looks more like Black Adam with the sharp eyebrows. Actor Brandon Molale should play Captain Marvel, he is a splitting image of the character.

I vote for Black Adam : acting a vilain could be a very good opportunity for The Rock and the character is more interesting too. I mean, his dimension is more intense.

Definitely play Adam. He seems much more like a villain, and yeah, like it was said before, Brandon Molale would be awesome for Marvel too.

Well, considering "The Rock" cannot act, it doesn't really matter. If he is signed on, it will definitely be a bad movie. The Rock is the king of movie flops.

BLACK ADAM ... Teth Adam ... however you say ... it spells THE ROCK. You can cast Captain Marvel with someone esle... but Dwayne Johnson is the only person to be the Black Adam character. I thought he looked like him even before they said they were making a movie. Perfect skin tone, perfect hair, perfect build, perfect voice, ... Can you smell what Khandaq is cooking?

Definitely, The Rock IS Black Adam. Just see Alex Ross' drawings!!!!

Dark haired, dark skinned (too much of a suntan) and could make a good villain.

Much more tricky as a character to play...

i've never been a huge fan of the Rock , but you'd have to be a fool not to see he is PERFECT for Black Adam....he's just not right for Capt. Marvel...but Black Adam....i just can't see anyone else in the role ...plus it's always more fun to be the bad guy

I think he should play both. It would be very interesting to see how he could play both sides of the coin; a naive, goody-two-shoes hero + a seasoned, wiser, bitter villain.

The rock needs to start playing more interesting characters, and playing them well. Black Adam would be a great opportunity for him to do that.

He should play Black Adam! You got to realize that Black Adam is much like Magneto in that he isn't Evil, he just has his own idea of justice. With Dwayne in this role you could def see a spin-off with just Black Adam.

My vote is for Black Adam. He looks more like Black Adam, and it would be great to see him as a villain again. They could save money and have him play both and use make-up and SFX to alter his physical appearance enough that he could play both, but i'd rather see him solely as Black Adam

These are both good parts but I thought The Rock would be perfect to play Namor The Submariner from Marvel Comics. He's got the look and the cockiness for the part.

Definitely Black Adam.Besides the chance to expand his types of roles. His style is very broad almost comical at times so either role will be great for him!I'd like to see him play a dark, evil character and with his physical body type anyone who plays against him will hard pressed to be seen.

BLACK ADAM!!!!! The Rock looks just like the comic character & he can easily pull it off. Plus it would be killer to hear him call Captain Marvel a "Jabroni". I'm an old-school fan of The Rock, from his original heel turn in 1997 and would like to see him play a major heel again. I can honestly say that I miss seeing him & "Stone Cold" Steve Austin wrestling, WWE just sucks without those guys.

Black Adam, provided the role is big enough. Since Black Adam is so complex and somewhat misunderstood and redeems himself somewhat it the later comics, it could be a very choice role to show off the Rock's acting skills and really have some fun with villainy. I could see him playing the Big Red Cheese too, but given the choice I would say Black Adam.
