Considering that the franchise comprises two of the top five highest-grossing movies of all-time, series co-star Geoffrey Rush thinks making another “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie would be a “a pre-ordained license to print money,” he joked.
Luckily enough for producers, then, the Oscar winner says he’s even got a story.
“[Finding the Fountain of Youth] would be a fun thing to do,” Rush declared, referencing the coda to “At World’s End,” where Jack Sparrow is seen with a map to the fabled spring. “[I could] drink the elixir and suddenly turn into Orlando Bloom. It’ll be a comedy!”
“And then I get the girl and the elixir wears off,” he continued, a large smile on his face. “There’s a story. Shoot that!”
But despite a willingness to get back on board (literally) as the devious Captain Barbossa, Rush nevertheless thinks a fourth “Pirates” is a long way off.
“I know there’s some website that says it’s confirmed, but no one’s phoned me yet officially. I think they’ll leave it for a while,” he said. “Jack Sparrow’s become such a popular character – he’s almost more popular at Disney now than Mickey Mouse for a certain generation. But I don’t think any of the creative team, would be interested if the ideas were dull or the script was mercenary or purely commercially driven.”

i think that it could be a good movie if it is not too wierd. i though that the 3rd movie was a little wierd. i heard they were not going to have kiera knightly and orlando bloom. is that true? if it is, then it is not going to be good.

I think further adventures of Captain Jack would be great. There are so many places to go with it and to think of no more of the good Captain is very sad.

First of all, imo Will and Liz are not that important so if they’re gone i can live with it.
In a story that goes over a good amount of time it’s only to be expected some people may move on, that’s life and it may be a fantasy story but..there ya go.
Secondly, there’s a whole load of Geoffrey Rush fans out there, me one of them and for us it will be fantastic to see more Barbossa.
The interaction between Jack and Barbossa is great and this story could make for such fun between them in the fourth movie.

If Orlando isnt in the film, i wont watch it. There are loads of Orlando fans out here that would be gutted if he wasnt in it. think it would be a long way off tho, as im sure they all need a break from the swashbuckling for a bit!! lol

I really think that they should keep the series going. They totally left it open for a fourth at the end of “At Worlds End”. Look how many James Bond movies there are?? And Batman?? I mean, if you have a great cast and fantastic writing, which they have, it will be a success. Johnny Depp would have to still be a part of it though, he is the icon for the movie itself. I agree that Orlando and Keira would have to be on board too. That team of 4 is the key to the movie: action, comedy, romance etc. I’m excited for the 4th!!

I think it’s a great idea. It’s okay if Orlnaod Bloom and Keira Knightly wern’t in it becuase they have better things to do. Bloom being the “new” Davy Jones and Knightly being a pirate mom. But they could bring in new characters. That would be alot of fun.

it would not b the same if orlando bloom was not in it! i would b so disappointed! i think they should just keep the entire cast cuz i h8 it when sum actors/actresses dont wanna b in the next movie so the director always hav 2 make up sum lame excuse bout wat happened 2 the characters. i luved the 3rd movie, cant wait 4 the 4th!

I probably wouldn’t go see the fourth because I think all the magic of the movie was destroyed when they kept making more sequels. I loved the first one. It had so much ingenuity and gave you a real sense of adventure and was believable (to a point). The last two had so many explosions and extending plot lines that I really felt disconnected from that sense of adventure I had once expirienced. However, if the writers followed a more Bruckheimer lead than Verbinski, and if the plot line is fresh and the characters are new and admirable, I might throw in my change. Make Captain Jack more believable like the first film, more daring instead of comic relief. Throw in Geoffery Rush, leave out the Bloom and Knightley and you might have yourself a movie worth watching! :~)

I love POTC, which is why I don’t want another sequel to ruin it. You shouldn’t stretch a good thing, like smearing too little butter over too much bread, it only gets dull that way.
The only thing I’d be okay with would be prequels to see what Sparrow did before the adventures in POTC. I heard they already wrote books about that, so they have their story there.

I’m torn between wanting to see another movie because there were openings to be one and letting the terrific trilogy stand as it is. But IF the fates decided to do another without Orlando and Keira for Johnny Depp to bounce off of - What’s the point. I won’t see it if they are not on board. Capt. Jack is the comedy. Will and Elizabeth are the heart.

i think an 4th pirates would be simply amazing,as the 1st three were just enetertaining in so many ways and i never got tired of watchin it,plus i think that if orlando and the other gal is not in it who cares the films werent really about them its more about jack sparrow and i think this fountain of youth might be great and posibbly i hope there will be an 5th film if the next one is any good.

I’ve become a huge fan of the franchise since it first came out, and I do hope they make a 4th installment. Like what Zero had said, the movie will still work even if Orlando Bloom and Naomie Harris aren’t there anymore (since their respective characters met their own ends on the last film). The story revolves around Jack Sparrow and his misadventures along the Caribbean. It’s not about the fangirls screaming “Orlando!” Though that’s a plus since I’m a fangirl myself. But I do think it will be interesting to have a Pirates 4 coming out next year.

4th one? A sequel? Is it real? If it is…then it’ll be good news for pirates fans like me, but if orlando is not included anymore, i can’t stand to watch the sequel without him. You must still have him in the movie because some people like to watch it because of him. Thus, pirates is so amazing!

HOW CAN ANYONE SAY BLOOM ISN’T NESSESARY! i mean, will went out to ave elebebeth in the 1st (sparrow just helped him) in the second will was searching for the chest to help jack (then wanting it for himself to save his father) and in the third he becomes the freaking captain of the freaking flying dutchman!! THAT MAJOR INVOLVMENT IN THE MOVIE!! it WOULD NOT be the same without will i mean, it wouldnt be the same with out jack either but a good movie has a bad boy main character(sparrow) and a sweet romatic smaller but just as impportant character HECK I LOVE THE PIRATES MOVIES BUT WITH OUT ORLIE THERE IS NO WAY I WOULD EVER THINK ABOUT WATCHING THE FOURTH!!

im a big pirates fan n i think that barbosa, sparrow, will, elizabeth, n jacks misfit crew should all return. the plot should base itself around the fountain of youth but first jack must get his ship back. upon doing this get the pearl bak from barbosa but looses the map to barbosa so now jack is regaining his crew and trying to find other means to getting to the fountain. I was not sure if calpyso was killed or just released from her body so if she was not killed have her ruin the plans by being a burden to the entire cast while they travel the seas… at this time i do not have any ideas on how to throw elizabeth in except sparrow lieng to ehr n telling her will can be returned to her with this fountain but she must use the compass to lead him there… n this is cruel but make somethin happen to the son kill him off or send him to jacks father to study as a pirate since his mom is the pirate king and his dad is the new davey jones…

Definatly there should be a four. Everyone should return and pick up on the search for the fountain of youth. Elizabeth and Will have to be in it - Jack and Barbossa do their usual one-up-manship over the ship and the map - Elizabeth is along because to be with Will on the Dutchman she has to be immortal as well - I like the idea above that Elizabeth’s son should stay with Jack’s dad - Throw in battles with Calypso who is still trying to punish them all for Davy Jones’ death and her imprisonment, Various other pirates also trying to find the fountain of youth, Another bad guy who wants immortality for purely evil reasons - and …. presto - I’ll be at opening night and buy the DVD!

There will be a 4th, only a fool would end the series now when Johnny is willing to continue, and Disney is no fool. But will they set it ten years from the last one?? For the son of Elizabeth and Will to be involved they would have to. Orlando says he will not be involved in any future Pirate projects so my guess is it will be Jack and Barbossa and the Fountain of Youth.
I would love to see them come up with a story that gets Will off the Flying Dutchman so he and Elizabeth can live happily ever after, but I’m thinking someone will have to convince Keira and Orlando to participate!
If there is a 4th, I’ll be there and if they premiere it at Disneyland, I’ll buy another ticket. These Pirates know how to have a good time!!

Look. Depp and Bush are awesome and can take the roles of the fourth movie by themselves. Nevertheless Bloom and Kiera are also important to make the fourth installment complete. But if need be the movie could be done without the two because the dutchmen could be lost and Kiera stays stuck on a island it is that simple. The dutchmen wasn’t even in the first so if you have to leave it out. Don’t abandon the pirates fans after these fantastic movies.

I Think a 4th one Could be the final one.
It Could just tie up everything.
Elizabeth and the kid could go to the fountain of youth and live forever, and sail on the flying dutchman with will, traveling back and fourth between the two worlds. Jack and his crew could Drink and do the same, going through tortuga. But their should be a new person that takes the place of someone like Lord Cutler Beckett, to try and stop them. and it be a Huge race between all the pirates to get to the Fountain first. and of Course Jack wins with all of his crew. and they have to show tortuga somewhere.
But the more you think about it. the harder it is to think of some kind of idea. but seeing Johnny Depp is awesome.

After looking for a hint or even an answer to the question of will there be a fourth sequel to the Pirates Legend, it is abundantly clear that every pirates fan, like myself, is hanging on the hope that there will be another. I for one am not ready to let go of the story at all. I thought that all 3 movies were amazing, and they did a wonderful job of building up in each movie so that every sequel was more thrilling than it’s predesessor. I am sure that there is no danger of the story falling flat at this point, but realistically with all the expectations that the crew and cast has built up with fans is in danger of putting the movie into a financially unrealistic category. But I hope that they can somehow overcome that obstical to continue adding to the story. And definately, it would be an enormous mistake to write out any of the main characters that fans have grown to love and identify with on such a personal level. I read a comment on a different site about will being written out due to a budget decision. But that would definately be a reason for me to walk away from support of any further sequels. And also a mention of Depp walking out due to boredom or something to that effect and I do not believe that to be true either because he is such an imperitive character in the story. Not to mention his role has got to be by far the funnest role to play, perhaps one of the most difficult but still the most enjoyable. Depp would be dissappointing perhaps millions of fans to abandon his role as Jack Sparrow. My 7 year old boy included, who adores Captain Sparrow. I for one hope that if any further sequels are made that somewhere in the story Will and Elizabeth have a more promising future together than a visit every ten years. But that is for the script writers to decide. They have done a superb job thus far, and I have faith that if they continued writing, would continue to leave us hanging on our seats for more. If they didn’t, there wouldn’t be the millions of Pirates fans that still continue to beg for more. They have indeed made “addicts” out of all of us! And we scream, we beg, we plead!! Bring us more! We are waiting.

think that they should wait 2 or 3 years before making it. Because they waited a little bit after they made the first one to make the second one and they did a good job.Plus they need to let the anticipation build up!! But the entire cast needs to be in it or else it just would not be the same at all!!

I would absolutely love to have a 4th movie! it would be amazing! Will and Elizabeth must be in it, though. I already thought of this really good plot - hahah. Well, what if they find the fountain of youth, and Will drinks it and THEN someone stabs the heart? He would still be living, right? And free to be with his “charming motorist” as Jack says? I really hope it ends that way - I just hated seeing Will and Elizabeth apart. I would hate it even more if they were not in it. They cannot take out any person whose name was on the cover in the past - besides Chow Yun-Fat/Sao Feng. He died, and was just a guest appearance. If Will or Elizabeth are not in a sequel - if there even will be one, don’t bother making it. I don’t want to watch it. By the way, I am an obsessed pirate-crazed fan :).

If there isn´t a 4th pirates movie, i will die. in this film, all the characters have to be in it. I would like that Davy Jones and Lorde Cutler Beckeet return from death by the help of Calipso. they will join to other pirates and make an entire navy looking for the fountain of youth. elizabeth will ask for help to jack sparrow so they can find Will Turner and the fountain of youth. it will be a hugde battle until someone finds the fountain - Barbossa (with the black pearl). but Will, Elizabeth and Jack will find the fountain too and Barbossa with it. then all the pirates arrive and there will be another batle coming to get the fountain. calipso will decides that the fountain will go to Will, Elizabeth, Sparrow and his crew, Barbossa and then to Will and Elizabet´s son. it will have a beautiful end but not a really end, because I and all the pirate´s fans want more pirate´s films. i hope that orlando and keira join to this film, because if it doesn´t hapen, i will not watch the film, never more. and trust me, i love pirate´s and i see the 3 films in one day. ín my holidays, i don´t miss it. and i don´t want that this great feeling ends, because orlando and keira don´t wanna make another film. i hope that the director finds a way to solutes this problem. I LOVE PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN!!!!!!!
