Following on the heels of our just-published story on the quasi-reunion of Michael Cera and Jason Bateman in “Juno”, I wanted to put up some additional news on what might become an “Arrested Development” reunion for real.
“We would all love to get back together and maybe do something with the show in the future,” the former (and possibly future) Michael Bluth said during the interview, revealing that talks are still alive. “But I don’t know when — or how — that would happen.”
“Maybe it could be as a movie or something,” Bateman reasoned, saying that the emergence of “Superbad” star Cera — and improv comedies in general — have created a more welcoming environment for the dysfunctional clan. “We’ll see. We’ll let the adults figure it out.”
Since its cancellation in February 2006, “Development” has sold solidly on DVD. Stars like Will Arnett (”Blades of Glory”), Bateman (”The Kingdom”) and Tony Hale (”Because I Said So”) have graduated to movie careers, while Cera has shown the world what “AD” fans knew for years. “He’s so subtle and so skilled,” Bateman grinned. “He’s like a little marksmen.”
As such, the cast are still encouraged by ongoing industry attempts to bring “AD” back to life. But even if they end up on Showtime, HBO or a theater near you, Bateman doubts that series creator Mitchell Hurwitz and his team of writers would take advantage of their newfound freedoms. “We kind of liked being handcuffed a little bit,” he insisted.
“I know we had specific conversations about [continuing to bleep the bad language] in the event that the show went to Showtime,” Bateman said. “Would we eliminate the bleeps on the profanity? Across the board, everybody said, ‘No. You keep the bleeps in.’ It’s funnier. I don’t think we would go away from what it was, anymore than maybe some content here and there. But as far as the execution and the format, I think we’d probably stay pretty much the same.”
With any luck, “AD” fans will get some bleepin’ good news real soon.

Great! My heart jumps when any of the actors say that there still interested in continuing the series.
Surely Mitch can negotiate with Showtime or HBO to buy the series.

Please let there be an Arrested movie. I miss it so much.

“I’m afraid I blew my wad on what was supposed to be a dry run and now I’ve got a bit of a miss on my hands.”

give it up already, i’m so sick of hearing about this damn show, the ten people that watched it must really love this thing.
September 10th, 2007 at 10:16 am
Oh Mike…there are so many more than 10 people who watched & loved this show. It’s too bad you couldn’t see just how wonderful it was.
September 10th, 2007 at 1:16 pm
Ya Mike…there are dozens of us…DOZENS!!
September 10th, 2007 at 5:18 pm
This was one of the best comedies of all time. Maybe my favorite ever.
September 10th, 2007 at 5:56 pm
Hey Beatrice Blake!!! I remember your name from the FOX AD Boards. Hope this happens

Please sign www.arresteddevelopment2009.com - a petition for an Xmas special in two years. Let ‘the adults’ know the demand is there!
September 11th, 2007 at 2:33 pm
I love Arrested Development. Unfortunatly, I did not discover it until it was cancelled. Thanks to my DVD player and G4, I have been able to discover and fall in love with AD. I would love to see it come back!
September 12th, 2007 at 3:23 pm
I must say that I have goten dozens, litterally dozens of people to love the show by lending out my DVD’s. If you have them lend them out and get people into it. Holly it is okay that you are a late bloomer, we need more of them so that when the show comes back there is an even larger following. I would prefer to have the show back and not a movie. Sign the petition above but hopefuly we will get something sooner than 2009.
September 13th, 2007 at 2:21 am
Good work with the “dozens of us!” quote, couldn’t have said it better myself. I love this show, best comedy of all time hands down.
September 13th, 2007 at 1:24 pm
This show was one the best comedies ever! I am amazed and how wonderful it was. The casting for each of the roles. Stupid Fox Network!!! Mitch Hurwitz, if you are reading this, Please make a movie or TV movie special or direct to DVD special, whatever. We would scoop it up. With a vengence!!!!
September 13th, 2007 at 5:49 pm
I own all the DVDs and seriously watch all through the 3 seasons in succession over about a month. Then when I finish, I wait a few weeks and start them all over again. Each time I find new jokes that the writers so perfectly hid. People laugh when I tell them I think it’s the greatest comedy ever created because it was only aired for 3 seasons, but I can look them in the eye and tell them I’m totally serious. Please bring the show back. I don’t have HBO or Showtime, but would definitely pay for them if it meant seeing AD once a week. Please, I beg of you Mitch. Get the gang back together… for Old Bear
September 13th, 2007 at 6:48 pm
Oh dear lord, please bring the dysfunction! I desperately need more Bluth in my life.
When the show canceled i tried flinging my TV into the ocean as a dramatic gesture. This proved a more difficult dramatic gesture than i had intended; but mostly because it was really quite heavy.
September 14th, 2007 at 12:35 pm
I also didn’t find this show until it was cancelled, but I love it. Part of me is hoping that they bring back a series instead of doing a movie because I want it to drag on and keep going. I don’t just want to see 2 hours and that’s it - but I will take it if that is our only option.
LONG LIVE ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT!
September 18th, 2007 at 2:28 pm
i’ve been a fan since catching parts of season two on BBC(uk network).i then went out and bought it all up,and i watch the dvd’s (1 thru 3)once a month or so,like that guy earlier.
please, please, please bring back the show,mr.HBO or mr.Showtime,a movie simply wouldn’t be good enough, due to the amount of ‘in-jokes’ and recurring themes that the dvd owners will only know about…
please sign that petition, and loan out your dvds to friends, and also bring it up if someone you know mentions Superbad, and how great it was…the amount of times ive had to tell people about AD after superbad came out…..
come on hermano’s,we can do it!
September 19th, 2007 at 12:50 pm
Arrested Development is one show that if it came back, would be enough to make me get cable again. Every other show on tv right now isn’t worth watching(thus, why i currently have no tv).
September 27th, 2007 at 4:08 pm
I never knew of AD when it was on TV, i was so used to so many bad TV shows i didnt even know to look for this gem untill its debute on G4. I fell head over heels as the rest of my family soon did. The ending fealt abrupt and i never knew untill i owned and watched all 3 seasons that the final episode was where it was. I wept inside because it seemed there was soo much more potential and i knew i would never have the feeling i get when i watched a new episode. Push through with the film on your part and ill do mine out on the corner at ASU shouting out for it!
October 2nd, 2007 at 5:59 pm

AD is definitely the best comedy show ever… and God knows I love Seinfeld.
Please, bring us some more huge laughs and happiness, guys! This is YOUR job!
So we count on you!
October 28th, 2007 at 7:27 pm
I hope it comes back! This was such a solidly good show. I can watch it now, after having seen every single episode a couple dozen times, and it STILL makes me laugh. Good times. I’d love to see more from this cast.
November 17th, 2007 at 7:37 pm
I just finished the last episode of the last season, and this news is the only thing that keeps me from loosing my mind at the moment… BRING THEM BACK!
WE WANT MORE!
November 23rd, 2007 at 3:17 pm
I continue to watch every episode on DVD and must have seen them 30 times or more (literally!) and I still manage to find something I missed in previous viewings. Here in Canada it is plyed on the CBC at least 3 times a day.
PLEASE bring it back or at the very least to a theater.
November 26th, 2007 at 9:23 pm
Seriously this is the best comedy sitcom ever! I now watch it online at MSN. I really hope they bring it back even on theaters. Maybe the show just needs a few more advertisements so people will notice the show. When I’ve heard about this show, it was off-air already. But when I watched it on DVD I rented at Blockbuster for the first time, I just get hooked on this show. It was just so great! BEST SHOW EVER! And I’m keepin’ my fingers crossed for a future reunion of the Bluths.
November 27th, 2007 at 10:03 pm
I love this show. It would be so great if they brought it back. I would almost hope that they resumed the series because there would be even more than just one movie. I agree that it is the best show ever.
December 2nd, 2007 at 5:23 pm
I need more AD. G4 stopped showing it and cbc shows 1 episode twice a day on weekdays. The show was so well written and clever. Should be the most popular comedy show on the air. People just need to give it a chance, and the writers an hurwitz should give the people what they want and bring the show back! Make the movie at least.
December 5th, 2007 at 7:31 pm
Bring it BACK!!!!!!
December 9th, 2007 at 12:19 am
One of the funniest series I have seen and am just catching it now via DVD. Brilliant writing and acting. Would love to watch more: bring it back!

Night Man, sneaky and mean
Spider inside my dreams, “I think I love you”
You make me want to cry, you make me want to die
I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you Night Man
Every night you come into my room and pin me down
With your strong arms you pin me down
And I try to fight you
You come inside me
You fill me up
And I lay calmly
Night Man
It’s just two men sharing the night
It might seem wrong
But it’s just right
It’s just two men sharing each other
It’s just two men like loving brothers
One on top and one on bottom
One inside and one is out
One is screaming he’s so happy
The other is screaming a passionate shout
It’s the Night Man
The feeling so wrong and right man
The feeling so wrong and right man
I can’t fight you man when you come inside me
And pin me down with your strong hands
I become the Niiiiggggghhhhhhtttttt….the passionate, passionate Night Man
December 14th, 2007 at 1:53 pm
Bring this show back, in series form, in movie form, in any form as long as it’s back. Come On!
December 17th, 2007 at 5:26 am
No, Al, I want to spill booze all over my freaking $6,300 suit. Come on!!
December 21st, 2007 at 1:01 pm
Yeah, like I’m going to take a whiz through this $5,000 suit. Come on.
December 23rd, 2007 at 3:00 am
BRING IT EFFING BACK>……. AAAAAAAAAAAGH I LOVE IT.
December 29th, 2007 at 1:06 pm
I just finished whatching all three seasons and I think I’m going to cry! The show is incredibly addicting! I really hope they bring it back! Why did they take it away in the first place?? I LOVE WILL ARNETT!!
January 17th, 2008 at 4:18 am
After coming to the conclusion of the DVD’s I can honestly say
I’ve never been more disappointed that a TV show got canceled. There is no show that can even come close to the brilliance of Arrested Development. Dear God I need more.
January 21st, 2008 at 8:52 pm
there should be a site made for all of us that want the movie to be made so they know how many loyal fans are out there
February 13th, 2008 at 10:44 pm
Arrested Development was one of the finest pieces of television programming, ever. I can’t believe AD is gone and “Survivor” and “American Idol” continue. Don’t those @%*#%%#%$
