Guillermo del Toro is attached to direct a new take on "Beauty and the Beast," with Emma Watson set to star. It’s a long-rumored collaboration that I've been looking forward to greatly, as del Toro is one of the most visual directors of our time and will also likely be able to coax a very un-Hermione performance out of Watson.

The Hollywood Reporter has the news, adding that Andrew Davies will write the script. But the idea of Watson as Belle in "Beauty and the Beast" got us wondering what other "Harry Potter" stars would fit well in a movie inspired by a fairytale. Surprisingly, there are quite a few. Hollywood, feel free to pilfer our ideas.

Michael Bay is directing "Transformers 4," as MTV News exclusively reported on Monday (February 13). The next outing in the robots-in-disguise franchise won't make its way to theaters until the summer of 2014, however, leaving plenty of time for Bay to figure out the particulars of his developing reboot.

That also gives us plenty of time to speculate on the story for "Transformers 4." With that in mind, here are a few story ideas and casting suggestions for Bay and company to consider!

For many Americans, Benedict Cumberbatch is somewhat of an unknown quantity. Though he’s gathered accolades for his roles in English projects like "Sherlock" and "Tinker Tailor Solider Spy," he hasn’t had a big Stateside success just yet -- something that will change soon, as he’s set to star in a number of blockbusters within the year. Though his voice will only be used for "The Hobbit," Cumberbatch will have a prominent role as (perhaps) a villain in the untitled "Star Trek" sequel, due for release in 2013.

When we caught up with "Star Trek" star Chris Pine (Captain Kirk, if you forgot) at the premiere of "This Means War," he told us about his excitement for Cumberbatch to get his proper due.

Nine films are nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards this year, begging the question: who deserved a tenth spot on that list? Oscars 2012: 10 Spot answers that question, as the MTV Movies team highlights some of 2011's greatest films and argues why they deserved a nod as the tenth Best Picture nominee.

If there's a movie that made you laugh harder and more consistently in 2011 than "Bridesmaids," I'd certainly love to hear about it. For my money, no such film exists: the Kristen Wiig comedy was an instant classic with all the guffaws and gross-out jokes seen in the "Hangover" movies, but with considerably less bro-humor and a whole lot more brains.

Watching Michael Shannon play a potentially disturbed man in "Take Shelter" was one of the most harrowing movie-going experiences in 2011. In the film, he plays Curtis, a man who has apocalyptic visions and is unsure whether to take them seriously or not. Just to be safe, he begins to expand his family's tornado shelter, in order to protect his family.

The film's most frightening scene comes near the end of the film at a community fish fry, when a friend confronts Curtis about his strange behavior. Shannon erupts in fury in an unforgettable scene, made all the more real because the extras in the shot didn't know what was going to happen.

It's been years since "Maleficent" was first announced, but apparently Angelina Jolie is finally ready to settle down with the project. She has expressed interest in the "Sleeping Beauty" spin-off since its early days back in 2010, but the project never quite came together. Now, however, "Maleficent" is actually pretty close to going in front of the camera.

Back in January, it was announced that "Avatar" and "Alice in Wonderland" production designer Robert Stromberg will direct the project. Apparently that was all the forward momentum the film needed, because The Hollywood Reporter has learned that this will be Jolie's next project after she's done with "In the Land of Blood and Honey."

"I haven't acted in two years, and I haven't done anything else since this. The next thing I am looking at is a Disney movie," she said at a news conference at the Berlin International Film Festival.

Arguably the biggest news of the day was Lionsgate's announcement that the studio would be premiering the "Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2" trailer in front of "The Hunger Games" in theaters on March 23. Though this is definitely a match made in young-adult heaven, it's far from the first time trailers for highly anticipated films have premiered before similarly big new releases.

We've decided to go back and pick our five favorite examples of big trailer premieres from the past couple decades. The movies haven’t always matched the hype (we're looking at you, "Phantom Menace"), but they certainly gave us good reason to get excited.

Come with me back to a time long, long ago (1998) in a galaxy far, far away (where Brad Pitt was still playing romantic leads). "Meet Joe Black" was just hitting theaters, but fans weren't necessarily flocking to theaters opening night to catch Pitt playing the Death. Instead, many fans were anxiously awaiting the first trailer of George Lucas's highly anticipated "Star Wars" prequel, "The Phantom Menace." Considering the public's changed opinion on the movie as "The Phantom Menace" launches its 3-D rerelease today, it's hard to believe people were once so excited about the movie. But they were — seriously.

Holy Westeros, that's a lot of "Game of Thrones" goodness!

HBO has released 17 new stills ahead of the second season premiere of "Thrones," airing on April 1. In the new batch of photos, you'll get acquainted with newcomers Stannis Baratheon, Melisandre of Asshai, Davos Seaworth and more. You'll also see familiar faces like Jon Snow, Daenerys Targaryen and the Imp Tyrion Lannister.

This new weekly column takes a look at the week's releases and pairs them with a complimentary film to watch before, after or as a substitution.

"Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace in 3D" & "Serenity"
The connection between these two goes deeper than their deep space setting. Joss Whedon filled the big-screen continuation of his television space opera, "Firefly," with the fun and swagger of their original "Star Wars" trilogy, while creating a vision that was entirely his own. Sure, Mal burrows from Han, but that doesn't make Nathan Fillion an ounce less likable or cool. You could easily argue that "Firefly" and "Serenity" were more earnest continuations of the space opera/western combo-genre that Lucas established with "Star Wars" back in 1977. "Serenity" can stand on its own, but watching "Firefly" beforehand will increase your enjoyment exponentially. Also, 2D.
